Best

THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY- YUMMY TO MY TUMMY! Pros: everything from service to food to price! Cons: nothing bad aboutthis place

Worst

First, the atmosphere and service were excellent. The steak was good. Everything else...not so much. The New England Lobster Bisque tasted like tomato soup. It had small piece...

More like O'Charleys since they own them now...... 3/22/2012

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, now it is just like O?Charleys. They have add several menu items and do them just OK instead of having the old items that made them. They only have smoked salmon on request and the quality is not there anymore. The steaks do not compare to Hal?s on old Ivy (#1), Bones (#2), New York Prime (#3), Mekendrick (#4), and even Little Alley?s Steaks in Roswell blows Stoney River out of the water for a great steak and/or seafood. They used to have the best steaks but they have changed unfortunately. My wife used to love their crab cake that was lump crab meat and now it is a cheap fried crab cake real healthy. I used to love the extensive wine list to accompany my steak or chop now the best wine on their list is Jordan cabernet. I am sad that the O?Charley?s chain has completely destroyed one of my favorite restaurants! more

Disappointed 7/19/2009

First, the atmosphere and service were excellent. The steak was good. Everything else...not so much. The New England Lobster Bisque tasted like tomato soup. It had small pieces of lobster, but there was no lobster taste. Lobster Bisque should taste like lobster not tomato soup. The PEI Mussels were just OK. Have had much better at Red Salt. The sauteed mushrooms tasted like they were cooked in liptons onion soup mix. The cake that they brought out for my birthday was stale and dried out. This was my first visit to Stoney River. It will be my last. When I go out for dinner, I expect to get something better than what I can make at home. Pros: Good Steak, Great Service Cons: Far over priced based on food. more

Best Rolls Ever! 3/19/2007

Had some great rolls at this restaurant. From what I can remember the service was fine. The atmosphere was fine. I wasn't really paying attention because my girlfriend and I came here with some family after she got ran into by some on Ga 400. So this dinner was occupied with different thoughts. The rolls were exceptional. My girlfriend had told me about the rolls a thousand times, but I didn't fully understand until I tried them 1st hand. They are little Krispy Kremes, as long as you put the cinnamon butter on top of them. The steak was fine. Not comparable to the steak I had a Chops, but still exceptional. They put a lot of seasoning on the steak, which kind of ruined it for me. What I am trying to say was that it was extra salty for no reason. The steak itself was tender and moist, so I don't understand why all the need for that seasoning, or what it felt like seasoning. I hate to complain about good food, but when comparing to my other experiences I am just trying to pick out a few things I noticed. The food was great and I recommend this restaurant to anyone, but it you want an EXCEPTIONAL steak and an AWESOME atmosphere go to Chops. This place deserves an 8 out of 10, and I hope you'll give it a try. more

Loved my steak. Loved my salad too! Service was great! Highly reccomend more

great steaks 12/9/2006

Finally a real steak house outside of 285. Great steaks and service. You might have to wait 30 minutes or so, but it is well worth the wait. Might be the best rib-eye in Atlanta. Pros: steaks and sides are very good Cons: a little wait, but that is okay more

THE family favorite 9/8/2006

The steaks are why we keep going back. Everyone we have taken there seems to really love the food. The wait staff and management are also top notch, helpful without being annoying. The only gripe we have ever had was with their mixed drinks, which was promptly corrected by the manager when he found out. Pros: Steaks are terrific Cons: Waits can be long more

What is going on?? 8/9/2006

I have always had great experiences with this Restaurant and recommended it to my daughter and son-in-law as a special occasion place (they have a limited budget). I was very sad to hear from them that the service was poor and their order was wrong when delivered to the table. They spent nearly two hundred dollars and got the wrong salad, and wrong potato served to them. In addition to this they were not treated ""special"" in any way even though the told the server that they were celebrating a special occasion. I was upset to discover the service at this location had fallen this low - hope it was just a bad night and not a pattern...They said the food was still good, just not the kind of service expected at those prices. Pros: Food was good Cons: Order was wrong and not corrected without conflict more

Stoney River Is the Best 3/14/2006

Like my husband says, ""you can never go wrong at Stoney River"" because the consistency is always the same. We dine here for special occassions and this is also the spot where we bring out of town guests. We always dine at the one in Duluth, Ga. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and the wait staff are professional. I love this place. more

Delicious Food - Old Cabin Feel 12/14/2005

I recently stopped by here for a late dinner. Walking in the restaurant was instantly comfortable and cozy. It is mellow, comfortable, and the fireplace was very welcome on the chilly night. The food was superb, I had a horseradish crusted red snapper, and salmon appetizer. The snapper could have used more horseradish for my liking, but it was very good. For desert, the creme brule was a bit less than average, but not bad. The server was excellent though this night the kitchen was somewhat slow. Plan for a long, large meal. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

Excellent 12/3/2005

By far my favorite local steakhouse. Don't go during primetime unless you utilize call-ahead seating (do they still have it? - I never eat during these times). I once saw a flyer or something for the place that states 'if this is not the best steak you have ever eaten, let us know and we will take care of it' - believe me, they do. Service is always impeccable. The food seems to get better tasting every time I go. Save room for the almond-laced tophat for dessert. Pros: Service, Food Quality Cons: Crowded more

Great Food & Service, Seated like Sardines! 10/18/2005

We celebrated a friend's birthday last weekend at Stoney River. We had a group of six adults. Even though we had advance reservations, we were seated in a long booth. Not the ideal seating for our group. This seating would be extremely ackward in a business environment for entertaining. One of the men in our group was packed the booth next to the window had the cold air from the a/c vent blowing on him. The waiter was very knowledgeable & accomodating. Enjoyed the ""coffee marinated"" steak, one of the specialities of the restaurant. The shrimp cocktail gets two thumbs up! It was a nice touch to give us a nice sized dessert with a candle on top for our birthday boy. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Booth Seating more

Totally surprised!!! 9/5/2005

Picked this restaurant on advice from a friend, and waas pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices, great service, and superb steaks. Our server was very friendly and attentive, as well as the management on hand. It was our third anniversary and my wife really enjoyed the food as well as the ambience. I plan on returning real soon!!! Pros: Steak, Ambience, Service more

Great vibe 7/27/2005

Great steaks in a clubby 'not here' location. Very upscale feeling - more like Aspen than a busy corner in a Roswell stip mall! Very pretty staff - atmosphere is 1/3 steakhouse, 1/3 Aspen bar, 1/3 Gold Club... Pros: Great steak, beautiful facility, beautiful staff! Cons: sometimes snobby more

love their steak!!! 5/20/2005

all of the steak entree is wonderful, well seasoned. order the lamb chop appetizer, it's awsom. the service is always great every time I dine there. Pros: great steak, great service more

Perfect 1/20/2005

This place is amazing in every way. The food is unreal, the service is second to none and the atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. A great fit for many occassions. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

Best Restuarant in Atlanta! 6/28/2004

My husband and I celebrate every milestone, event, and special day at this fabulous restaurant. Definitely try the lobster bisque. If you like spicy, get the filet horseradish encrusted with a side of garlic mashed potatoes... yummy! You must save room for dessert - the almond laced tophat is out of this world. Worth every penny. Pros: Call ahead seating, Good value, perfect steak more

All Things Are Pasta-ble! 9/23/2003

This place was great. Much like Panos & Pauls, I had to get over myself about the Strip Center locale. That aside, the Shrimp Scampi was impeccable. Fresh shrimp, just the right amount of cappelini, mushrooms, tomatoes and not tooooo much spice. Wine was excellent and my companion's steak served as ordered! A feat in and of itself in today's restaurant scene! Even the huge lettuce wedge with bleu cheese dressing was quelle divine! Enjoy! Pros: perfect lighting, wine list , service Cons: in strip mall, host attitudinal, CROWDED! more

Mmmm 2/27/2003

This was without a doubt the best meal I have ever had. The service was unbelievable. Worth every penny. And it was such a romantic setting. I recommend this place for any occasion. You won't be dissappointed. Pros: Great service, Excellent food, Wonderful surrounds more

Carniverous Heaven!! 1/16/2003

I frequent this place whenever i can. I never miss taking out of town guests to this place so they can see what a really good steak is supposed to taste like. The food is wonderful...the steaks melt in your mouth, the bar is top notch and the wine list is excellent. If you are a big meat eater i recommend the bone in ribeye...it's the best you'll find anywhere and i kid u not. The wait staff is attentive, polite and well trained. You can't go wrong with this place. Pros: juicy steaks, great bar, excellent atmosphere Cons: just a bit pricey, long wait weekends more
