Outstanding Workmanship 12/17/2011

I happened upon this company review by chance and had to respond to the outlandish bad review. We discovered this company while attending a home-show and were very impressed with the products they had to offer as well as the savings in comparison to putting in real marble, granite or travertine tile. Their samples at the show were nothing shy of what we received in our home. In fact, the finished result in our home far surpassed our expectations and in our opinion turned out better than any sample that was shown to us. As far as their professionalism, I would say they are top notch. All employees, as well as the owner, were pleasant and easy to work. They made sure we were 100% satisfied with the color and workmanship. The process during installation can be a bit messy, but they took every precaution to keep the rest of our home clean. Plastic was laid down, paper was attached to walls and cupboards to be assured no product or coloring would end up where it didn't belong. We entertain quite frequently and have had nothing but compliments. I highly recommend this company and have since referred friends and relatives to them. A couple have taken me up on it and have been just as pleased as we are. So if you're looking for a cost effective way to renovate old counters and flooring, you won't go wrong choosing Stonescape Designs. more

Elegant Makeover 12/2/2011

My wife and I have a beautiful home, but long ago became tired of the standard white kitchen counter tiles, standard white floor tiles, and standard plain concrete deck around our in-ground pool. After talking with Stonescape Design people at a home show, we had them install custom-color countertops in our kitchen (which are as attractive as marble, but non-staining). The material is applied right over the old white tiles. It was a little messy for a short while, and we couldn't use the kitchen for a few days, but the result was incredible. Workers were efficient, punctual, and courteous. We liked it so much, and had so many compliments (even from strangers -- electricians, etc.), we had Stonescape back several months later to put a new custom flagstone look on the pool deck (no more ugly stock pink concrete). Recently, we had them replace standard tile in our family room, kitchen, and downstairs bath with an elegant, custom-color floor that duplicates the large, diagonal-set stone floors found in very high-end houses. They also totally re-did the fireplace, turning it from a stock, plain, white feature into a truly beautiful center of the family room, with a polished, custom-color stone and marble look that already has drawn compliments from everyone who's seen it. Putting in new flooring, re-doing kitchen counters, re-doing the pool deck and similar jobs always involve some inconvenience, and can get pretty messy -- but the mess is temporary, and the result -- at least in our case -- has been incredible. Our cul-de-sac has nice houses, but we're convinced that we now have the classiest kitchen, family room, and pool deck in the area. Now we're starting to look at upstairs bathrooms and other areas that we might want re-done. We're very, very satisfied. more

Look for another company 7/22/2011

To update fellow consumers, there was a judgment award to me in regard to the statement below. The judge did see Stonescape liable for reimbursement. I was looking for an elegant easy to clean floor, I put a down payment 4/30/11. Paying more that the others thinking I will have something no one else has. But June 29, 2011 Stonescape's workers started and consumer beware; this company does not use the current technology to sand and grind your interior floor. There are grinders and sanders with vacuums attached to avoid the massive mess. Stonescape made a huge unnecessary mess. The employees were not happy, over worked, and made many mistakes. My home had a garden hose taken inside to rinse out the grit from preparation and it damaged by walls, mud seals and kitchen cabinets. My interior dream floor has been a disaster. The final outcome was not as it was promised. I was told over and over that I would love it. There are high spots in traffic areas that are sharp to your bare feet, they will soon chip off and cause the floor to wear down quicker than necessary. And the saddest part is that Stonescape was in denial, they said their product turned out well and it was just as they wanted. I tired several times to discuss and each time I was put off or told I was being over sensitive. To prove I wasn't being oversensitive I enquired to other contractors and they all had the same say (high/low areas, runny areas, spotty areas, sealer shows roller markers, incomplete in all doorways, and there is more). My contract was for a tiled look with deco's and inlays. I didn't get a tile look or the decos and the inlays I did get-one was ruined by one of the employee's and some how one wasn't even ordered. But all along I was promised I will love it, these things are all normal and they don't care if they loose money, their goal is to make the customer happy. Well it is really ugly - there was only one person that said it looked good and that was and employee of Stonescape. So if you don't want to have your interior floor done twice, have several days of tears, and spend more than necessary I would avoid any interior work done by this company. more
