Poor Customer Service 8/7/2011

I've been a customer of Stone City for more than 10 years, and up until my recent experience, I used to think they were a reputable business. The salesperson I had told me a job would be done on a certain day unless I got a call from her saying otherwise. It was an important deadline, and I stressed that I would even pay rush charges to insure it was met. I did not get a call, but to be certain, I called anyway for peace of mind. It went to voicemail, and I left her a message to call me back. No response. Up until the day of the deadline, I left a few messages, and none of my calls were returned. I was a little concerned, but given I was told everything would be fine if I hadn't heard anything, I chalked it up to them being too busy. They missed the deadline. She never called. I talked to the head of sales, who said she would look into it and call me back. It's been a week and a half, and still no call from her! I now have my stone, and it looks decent, but there are many other marble and stone companies in Chicago that will do a decent, if not exceptional job. For better customer service, and peace of mind, I'll be taking my next project elsewhere. more

Really Cool Showroom 3/29/2011

Definitely a really great showroom. They have so many different kitchen and bathroom set ups to look at and get ideas. The quality of stone, appliances, and cabinetry is top notch. The sales people are quite knowledgeable and really helped me get a good idea of how to go about renovating my kitchen. I am still a few months away from pulling the trigger, but I will most likely be getting Stone City to build my new kitchen. more

My Kitchen is Fantastic 8/11/2009

I walked into the huge Stone City showroom and it is just great. There are so many different displays that i started to get way too many ideas for my kitchen. I was brought back down to earth when I found that some of the nicer stone cost was beyond my price range. My salesperson Maria helped me find some thing I liked and was not too expensive. The whole experience was great. A girl came out to measure, who was very thorough. Afterwards I spoke with David who set my installation to fit my schedule. The installers were really nice guys who did a fantastic job. After the install I got a follow up call from both Maria and David. David gave me some tips on preserving my stone and even his cell number should I need to ask any more questions. I plan on doing my bathroom in a few months and Stone City is who I Plan on working with. Pros: Very Helpful Staff Cons: Some materials were a bit too pricey more

Poor Customer Service and results 6/25/2009

I ordered a counter top from Stone City who works with International Marble and Granite for order fullfillment. This was a test to see how they perform on a small job before I sent any clients their way or used then myself on larger projects. I am sorry to say, they failed terribly. They completely disregarded the spec sheets I attached with my order which resulted in the sink cuttouts being too large. Stone City and International Marble and Granite were unwilling to work with me to rectify the problem. I was not asking for a new countertop but instead with assistance in purchasing new larger sinks to accomodate the too large sink cut outs. The total outlay for this would have cost no more than $250, assuming they paid retail.\r \r Before the costly mistake with the countertop, I have to say the customer service was extreemly poor. I would call to speak to a sales rep and be sent to his voice mail. No one answering the phone would think to tell me he was out for the day or on vacation. Even so, they were very short staffed I think because the sales person was difficult to reach and I often had to speak to the installation department myself in order to get anything done in a timely manner.\r \r So if you use this company, you can not be sensitive to deadlines and must be open to the possiblity of mistakes that you will have to pay for.\r \r I am also not impressed with the quality of slab I received but did not formally complain, figuring what is done is done. There is no way the counter top is coming out as it would result in too much effort and expense. Pros: Large selection Cons: Unable to complete order without errors more
