Starter Building & Development

When you search shady contractor on Google, a picture of these guys comes up. We had several issues with our house ranging from poor workmanship on the outside to a failing driveway to leaving our lot looking like Hiroshima after the bomb went off. We bought a house in Bedford from them below what they were originally asking and they didn't want to put in a filtration system that would deliver us potable water, and the system that they did put in was as cheap as they could get away with and toxic. If you deal with these guys expect slap-dash, cheap work that will allow them to make as much money as they can on you and get out as quickly as possible. RUN DON'T WALK!!!!!!! more

I had aso many issues with my new home. It really was not the fault of starter Homes but, the office manager took care of me like I was Donald Trump! Pros: They fixed every issue free of charge! Cons: I had to wait 2 weeks for it to complete more

we have been very unhappy in the Sandwood crossing development because Innovative Realty mispresented the property tax base and our home is valued at $40,000 more than we paid. Plus the aesthetics of the development are shoddy at best - owner is very haughty - they covered all bases - none of the homes in our development have a decent lawn because they did not come through with honesty. I would definitely not recommend this complex and if the market was not so slow I would consider getting the heck out of here. Neither the owner (Pace) nor the realtor(innovative) deserve to be trusted - but every dog has its day. We just built a house at University Heights in Hooksett NH and we cannot get this builder to complete the punchlist nor do any warranty work. Also there is no telephone or cable in this development. Pros: Great price Cons: Good luck getthing them to fix anything more

Starter Homes is #1 in my book I highly recommend, you always want to choose the best when buying a home, Starter builders builds over one hundred houses a year and yea of course some people are going to complain about minor issues. Starter builders has the best prices in New England. Pros: best prices / fast service Cons: none more

I've been involved in purchasing 4 houses over the years, and this was the worst by far. I have had nothing but problems trying to get Starter (and Innovative Realty - owned at least in part by the same people) to live up to their promises. Besides the ""little"" things, like having to fight to get every repair actually done, they refused to do things such as repairs faulty floors, supply screened loam bed for the lawn (there were boulders over a foot wide in it! - I have pictures!) and supplying the amount of water the well was nominally supposed to produce. So far it has cost me over $10 thousand to repair what they didn't do. And yes, I spoke to a lawyer about it and was told that, in my state, you can't recover legal fees, so even if you win -- and he thought I probably would have -- it will probably cost more than the repairs. Bottom line - think twice before doing business with these guys. more

Purchased a condominium unit from Starter Homes and found them to be a very disorganized organization with poor customer service. The finish work in the unit was marginally acceptable. Our unit as well as other units in the development suffer from drainage issues and we are currently engaged in a dispute with Starter over misnumbering our unit several times, which has caused a significant inconvenience to us. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! more
