Stargate Kennel

I have an Afghan Hound & an Italian Greyhound. Both are spoiled rotten! And both have a degree of separation anxiety because I'm at home with them 99.9 percent of the time, so when Mom leaves, they both worry themselves to the point of having upset stomachs. We had never kenneled them before & I was a nervous wreck! Stargate came highly recommended from my groomer of 16 yrs. I was going to kennel them in separate kennels, but across from each other so they could still see each other. The sweet ppl at Stargate said they would recommend putting them together. It was the best thing ever! They comforted each other, slept together, & even did their outside play times together! And, it saved me money! Stargate didn't have to make this recommendation. They did it for the betterment of MY DOGS. They could have just taken my $$ and put them in separate kennels, but they knew what would work out best for my 2 never before kenneled, nervous, spoiled rotten babies. They needed to be with each other! I also like that I can call there & ask about my dogs each & every day & get info on how they're doing. They have an inside AND outside play areas so if it's raining, there is always a place for your dogs to get exercise. If your dog needs to be groomed...they can do it there. I just feel that my dogs are getting care there. And..there is someone ON GROUNDS with them. Believe me, if I ever found a reason, I'd be the first to take my babies as far as it took to get the care they deserve...but as long as I feel that they are getting that care at Stargate Kennels, that's where they will go any time I need a kennel! And, I love coming back & seeing their pic's on the scrolling picture frame on the counter of all their play times! What a special touch! Thanks Stargate! more

As cranky as a cat as I have, I would not be surprised to hear, ""We will not take him, again."" However the staff at Stargate Kennel are remarkable and do not get discouraged with his moody temperament. The majority of the time they bring out the best in the my cat- they even get him to allow the staff to brush him, which he will not allow at home.. They play with him, and, make sure he is given the ultimate in personal attention. The fact that my cat is diabetic (that is why he has to be boarded) the personal attention is vital. Any questions about his health they are on the phone to his vet. Cheree and staff take better care of my cat than I do. I would recommend them to everyone more

Have been going to Stargate Kennel with my dogs for over ten years. They have gotten the finest care ever. The kennels are stopless, each dog given personal attention. My dogs get out of the truck and look forward to going in - Great piece of mind for me. Jan became one of my best friends and along with Eric, helped me train, care for, show and get the best from my GSD's. Now that Jan has left us - Eric and Cheree have continued in her footsteps and the kennel is THE BEST THERE IS FOR YOUR PETS!!! Pros: Great Care for your dog! Best obedience training in town more

I first used Stargate with our first oversized German Shepherd and trained with Jan (RIP Love her dearly). That shepherd became the BEST dog I ever had. I have taken other foster animals to Eric to test temperment and will always have faith in his abilities. He is willing to do whatever it takes to work with you and the animal. To the previous posted about fleas, get over it. Fleas can be found anywhere maybe you should pay the price to properly avoid flea infestation of your animals. I will always HIGHLY recommend Stargate. They have experience in training my animals and police dogs as well. Eric is now the main person and he is wonderful. From what I have read here, it is clear that you either love the place or hate it. Yes Jan is testie, however, once you get past this, she is the best for the job. She does not take any wishie-washie owner's stuff so once you learn the rules, she can't be beat. I have a problem dog and she knows how to handle him. Perhaps it is her personality that enables her to handle testie dogs. What-ever the case, I still love the place and I hope her cancer does not keep her from doing a great job. We board our three large dogs there. Great service, nice facility. Nothing negative to comment on, other than the quirky cost for a Sunday pickup. Knowing that, I just kick back on Sunday afternoon and enjoy a couple hours without the dogs. Regarding previous comments on the woman being cranky, it might be due to the fact that she was in the middle of a losing battle with cancer. I've used Stargate for about 20 years. They are very good to my animals, and personally, I don't particularly care if they kiss my butt, as long as they treat my animals well. I have two dogs and three cats that occassionally have to be boarded. My Russian Blue is so needy and whiney (as Blues are...) that one of the girls carries him on her shoulder as she feeds the other animals. My dogs love to go there and I've never felt like they were treated with anything but love. Pros: Thumbs up! Great place for my animals! more

I have been a client of Stargate Kennels for over 15 years. When I first kenneled there I was having to travel every week for over a year. The care that our dog got was exceptional and the dog LOVED going there because of Jan (the owner) and all the others working there. In all that time the dog never had one flea. She keeps the place spotless. We do not have children so our dogs (we have 2 now) are our ""kids"" and mean the absolute world to us and I can not express what comfort it has given us over the years to know that our dogs are so well taken care of when we had to travel. Our oldest dog died last year at 14 years old and Jan and the others were so sad about it, so I am really,really confused how anyone can say she doesn't care about the animals. All our dogs have also done training there and people always comment what well behaved dogs we have and I tell them it came from the training that they received from Jan at Stargate when they were puppies. I know that Jan has a gruf voice and maybe people take that as being rude but nothing is further from the trurth. She is strict about how people control their dogs when they are checking in because she does not want to have dogs getting in fights. One of our dogs does not like other dogs so I appreciate Jan making sure that people don't let there dogs just run around. The place is busy and she does get rushed when there are 11 people waiting around to pick up their dogs and maybe some people are thinking that she is rude when she is just trying her best to get everyone taken care of. This women is the biggest champion of dogs (really any animals) that I know. I know that in the past people have dropped off dogs to be boarded and have never picked them up and Jan has either adopted them or found them homes. This women really cares. Yes, the owner can be rude...but she is more straightforward, in my opinion. I have kenneled my dogs there before and will continue to do so. It is visibly displayed what the hours are, even on the business cards. My dogs have always been taken good care of when there. The owner cares about the pets that are placed in her care. Well I won't argue that the female owner is rude. She is however, very good with the animals. Her husband is very nice as are the other people I've delt with. I board our dog there because I know she is well cared for and gets attention. I've never had a problem with the kennel and it is always busy. more

Jan, the woman who owns this kennel, is extremely rude and unprofessional. For that reason only.....we will not be back. more
