Looking out for places that were hiring, I completed an online application for Staples since they had a position opened for cashiers several months ago. I understand no employer is obligated to give special attention to anyone who applies, but the way I was brushed off felt quite rude. I talked to a manager there who contacted whoever was in the office, who, instead of seeing me face to face or even talking to me to say hello, said, "Due to the Questions & Answers Survey on my application, I could not be seen at this time." All of this was over the phone. I had NO criminal background, shady work history. Quite the opposite. My previous employers all had excellent reviews for me. I felt like I was simply a pest...for some reason. BUT HERE IS THE CATCH. I AM A STAPLES CUSTOMER. I have shopped at Staples for school supplies and for one of my writing hobbies. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere and merchandise that Staples has to offer until now. I have a staples card, get staples coupons, and as a customer I always expect good customer service. I will shop at another Staples.
