I recently went to (Sub)Standard Optical because of a groupon that was offered for their company. The groupon covered $180 good towards frames and lenses.
I will give them 1 star for trying to be friendly and for the eye exam going mostly well, but it was all down from there. The glasses they offer are cheaply made, and there are no prices marked on them. I wanted just a standard pair of eyeglasses, with standard lenses. I picked them out and ended up paying more than $400 out of pocket, after the groupon. Obviously that felt wrong, so I looked up the frames on google. The first 5 results on google that wanted to sell those frames were offering them at almost 1/3 of the price that Standard Optical charged. The sites sold them as a 'deal' and showed the retail price. S.O. was substantially higher than even suggested retail! Who do they think they're conning.
I called them back within 2 hours of ordering, and told them to stop my order. If they were ripping me off with frames, they were probably ripping me off with lenses as well. I told them I would be in to discuss the order later. -- The next day I went in, and they told me they couldn't give me a full refund because the order had been shipped out that morning. What ungodly bullcrap is that? -- I had to raise cain, and ruin the better part of a week (and my entire weekend), but eventually I got my refund.
I took my prescription and went elsewhere with my business. You should save yourself a trip, and simply pass this company over, regardless of what 'deal' they offer.
Side note: I found out they didn't measure the distance between my eyes. In all likelihood the overpriced, cheaply made glasses would probably ended up giving me a headache beyond what subStandard Optical already caused.
