Having lived in Colorado Springs for a decade and having to suffer years of "Cowboys" (now closed - long overdue), Stampede is what a Country & Western club SHOULD be.
Having a restaurant upstairs is nice, but what it really does for Stampede is give it a 2-story ceiling - meaning it feels open, bright, and smoke free. Plus having an outdoor deck adds another option for those needing fresh air.
The music selection is diverse, and unlike the aforementioned club in CS, which just loops the same songs night after week after month after year, the DJ at Stampede selects something different every song, every night (where else are you going to hear Suzie Boggus' "Eat at Joe's"??).
The crowd is diverse, friendly, easy going.
Personally, I prefer Stampede to Grizzly Rose, but the Rose has its pros and cons too.
Wish we had a C&W club in Vegas (Gilley's got imploded, and Stoney's, though nice, is too far off the strip and none of the regulars from Gilley's followed over to Stoney's, plus Vegas is simply NOT a C&W club city).
Pros: high ceiling makes for smoke free open atmosphere
Cons: can be slow during the summer as Denver is an outdoor community, folks hiking, camping not going to clubs
