This place use to be great now its just waiting for a drive by! I wont be back! Country!! What a joke!!

Great dance floor 10/30/2009

Hate to see such nasty comments about the Stampede. I've been dancing there for years and have always enjoyed myself. I don't believe line dancing is just for guys who like guys or women who don't get asked to dance. That was a very rude comment by one ignorant person. For men or women who like to dance and don't necessarily have a dance partner we can get up and dance to the many different line dances and because we love to dance. That dosen't mean we don't like to couple dance when given the opportunity. The DJ's do play country and later in the evening play some hip hop. A little bit for everybody. All ages enjoy the Stampede... Pros: good dance instructors Cons: poor dance floor etiquette by some more

Not Country Anymore 5/20/2008

let's face it - in the Stampede parking lot you are more likely to see a drive by than a pick-up. emenem is not country, Soulja boi is not country. Stampede hasn't played country in years. Stamped has a circular dance floor for progressive dancing, but you can't progress around the dance floor because it is blocked by line dancers. for the uninformed line dancing is traditionally for girls who can't get guys and guys who like guys. Pros: could be a good room architectually Cons: plenty of cons - more than the supermax in florence on a wed night more

OMG!!!!! 5/16/2008

I was very upset to find out abnout the Latin night. I was very excited about going to the Stampede one night when we were met at the door. They told us that we may not want to go in there because it was hispanic night. Come on people! You are supposed to be a country bar! Grow a pair already! I will take my business down to Colorado springs to a little place called Mill Hill. At least they know they are supposed to be a country bar!!!!!! more

Latin night NOT good for buisness 5/9/2008

I was simply appalled at the fact they have turned a perfectly good saturday night into LATIN/HISPANIC night! Got to find somewhere else to go, its a long way to the grizzly rose, but i guess thats better than the STAMPEDE on a saturday night more

really bummed 5/5/2008

So husband and I tried to go dancing recently, ya know, night on the town with no kids and when we got there the parking lot was empty. We were given two VIP passes for Fridays and were told that Saturdays are now Hispanic Night?!?!?!? What is that?!?!?!? Saturdays used to be rocking there and we love it but not anymore! more

No Country Western at Stampede 5/2/2008

My birthday, thought it would be great to go to the Stampede for some country western. WRONG! It is Latin music only on Saturday nights. I asked if it was special for Cinco de Mayo and was told, no. Saturday nights are now for Latin/Mexican music. Very disappointed. Are there any true Country Western places left in Denver to go on Saturday nights? Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Not country western on Saturday nights more

Great atmosphere, great variety of music, diverse crowd 4/26/2008

Having lived in Colorado Springs for a decade and having to suffer years of "Cowboys" (now closed - long overdue), Stampede is what a Country & Western club SHOULD be. Having a restaurant upstairs is nice, but what it really does for Stampede is give it a 2-story ceiling - meaning it feels open, bright, and smoke free. Plus having an outdoor deck adds another option for those needing fresh air. The music selection is diverse, and unlike the aforementioned club in CS, which just loops the same songs night after week after month after year, the DJ at Stampede selects something different every song, every night (where else are you going to hear Suzie Boggus' "Eat at Joe's"??). The crowd is diverse, friendly, easy going. Personally, I prefer Stampede to Grizzly Rose, but the Rose has its pros and cons too. Wish we had a C&W club in Vegas (Gilley's got imploded, and Stoney's, though nice, is too far off the strip and none of the regulars from Gilley's followed over to Stoney's, plus Vegas is simply NOT a C&W club city). Pros: high ceiling makes for smoke free open atmosphere Cons: can be slow during the summer as Denver is an outdoor community, folks hiking, camping not going to clubs more

Get out of downtown 1/15/2008

I've only been to the Stampede on Wednesdays, but I don't think I've ever had a bad time. It actually gets a large crowd but since the place is huge, it's not claustrophobic like some bars in Denver. Plus, you don't have to pay for parking or spend 30 minutes looking for a meter, because the parking lot is enormous. I do recommend going to the bar upstairs because it's usually a little less busy. The music is varied, so even my friends who don't like country still have fun, and there are a lot of hot guys. more

Good times, but watch out for line-dancing snobs 9/17/2006

Stampede is a fun, inexpensive place to go, not to mention a great workout! A lot of the line dances (which I prefer to couples dances) are complex and exhausting, and really get your heart pumping. One word of caution, though- try to take advantage of the line-dancing lessons offered Wednesday nights before trying the dances out on the floor with everyone else. Some of the regulars there, particularly the women, are real snobs and will literally push you out of the way if they feel you're getting too close or turning the wrong way. It kind of turns what is supposed to be a fun bar experience into a competitive dance sport. I have actually gotten into several fights with people like this over line dances, but then again, what's a country bar without a barroom brawl? Pros: Cheap cover, free drinks for ladies on Wednesdays and Saturdays, informative lessons Cons: Uppity cowboys/cowgirls, not enough line dances, a regular aptly nicknamed Dirty Joe more

Love the change! 5/3/2006

My friends and I loving the new music and videos at the Stampede! We started going to the club last year and found it predictable and boring at times. Now they have music videos and large screen TVs where you can watch the Avalanche and Rockies as well as music videos and other events. We had a great time last Weds and plan on coming more often. more

Getting Better! 5/2/2006

I have been going to the Stampede for over 5 years now and I was amazed on the great improvements that they have made to the club in the past few months! My girlfriends and I were there on Wednesday for a birthday party. They have added huge video screens so that we could watch the Avalanche game when we were not dancing. They then started to play music videos after the game and have added a lot of new music to the songs that they play. It used to be the same songs every night but we heard more new songs on Saturday when we came back. All that I can say is that they have made one of my favorite clubs better with the improvements. Who needs live music with all of the music videos! Pros: Ladies night, Music, Friendly DJ Cons: Valet too pricey more

not the best bar 10/19/2005

I have been dancing for years. However the dance floor is the worst I have ever been on. I can't stand the fact that I go to a country bar to listen to country music not rap or hip hop. The people that go to this bar are fake and materailistic. Pros: food, drinks Cons: fake people, fake cowboys, fake bar more

Perfect Place to unwind after a long day! 9/9/2005

The Stampede is the perfect place to unwind after a long day. It offers free drinks to the ladies on Wednesdays (the only night I prefer to go) and its my place to just have fun with my girl friends. I enjoy the country song setting with just a touch of other types of music added. Its definately a place to go and dance with single men...most are willing to have a few shots and take to the dance floor. The service is fairly fast and very enjoyable. Its a must go at least once! Pros: the men!!!, the music, drinks & cover charge Cons: faster drink service more

Stampede Yee HA 6/23/2004

Business Trip in Aurora 3 Irish Men 1 Scotsman 1 Welsh Man and an american interpretator Went on the LADIES night (wed) and in all our world travels Stampede contained the largest quantity of beatuiful girls ever encountered a real compliment to the US of A. Would be the reason for coming back to Denver But we want more line dancing cowboys & girls Pros: Birds, Women, Lassies Cons: , Closes too early, Toilets more

If You Like Country.... 5/12/2004

Stampede is supposed to be a country bar right? I am a regular there, and let me offer this advice...if you like country...go early. At about 11:00 pm they start playing top 40. Yes, you can 3 step to " I Love The Way You Move" but do you want to? I hear complaints a lot that they don't play enough "techno" or "rap"...HELLO! It's a country bar! All in all however, it is a fun place to dance, watch people and drink. If you like rap and pop, go on Wednesday. If you like country, go on Saturday. Free drinks for ladies both of those nights. Pros: Inexpensive, Big Dance Floor more

too country-ish 4/24/2004

Too big, too crowded, too country. Stampede can be a fun place, but if you're meeting friends there make sure they tell you exactly where. Otherwise it's like looking for a needle in a haystack and that haystack is nothing but embarrasing-to-Denver cowboy hats and KYGO listeners. I do like the fact that they don't play all country music. Sucked that the Saturday night I was there it was 90% country and that 10% was overplayed 70s and 80s music. Drink prices are decent, but bring your patience because there's long lines at all bars. I had never seen a running track as a dance floor. Definitely different, but still not all that great to dance on. Not that I tried or anything. I won't be going back unless someone pays everything for me and they play some REAL music. Pros: good drinks, good staff Cons: , embarrasing, to Denver more

A Real C/W bar 5/17/2003

This is a all around good country and western bar. On Wednesday nights they play different kinds of music at 10pm and 11pm so that the folks that can't 2 step have something to do. The friday and saturday night crowd consist of the regulars. People who just want a good drink and a good dance partner for the night show up on these night. If you want to learn how to dance come early and the local dance instructors will show you how. If you keep going to the classes you can get pretty good. p.s. I found my fiancee in this bar so I sorta have a attachment to it. Pros: Good CW Music/Dancing, Great 1st date place Cons: Can be Crowded more

What else is there 4/24/2003

Out of all the bars and clubs and nightspots I have been to this one is the best. Cheap cover, great drinks, awesome food and the women......que bella! Wednesday nights have it all, great staff and awesome music selection. They realize the need for mixing it up for music and boy they aim to please. Some line dancing, some hip hop dancing, cha cha and more. Plus you can't beat a sexy woman in a cowboy hat. Have fun and be safe. Pros: Valet is cheap, HUGE parking, Outdoor views Cons: Sometimes long lines more

Attention Dancers 11/29/2002

If you know how to 2-step, cha, or west coast swing you will find a great crowd of dancers. If you are of the many who think they can dance- you will find many of those as well. On Wednesdays it's a young drunk crowd and it's hard to dance so arrivec early. Saturday nights are an older crowd and great dancing. It is best to get there early if you really want time on the dance floor. Pros: unpretentious, ladies drink free, music Cons: young on wed. nights, smokey more
