The Best Vet in Bay Ridge 1/19/2011

I have to say that I have had the BEST experiences with St. Francis Animal Hospital. My cats have been cared for by them for nearly eight years now, and I won't go to anyone else. \r \r Dr. Battiato brought my elderly (now deceased) kitty back from the brink on three different occasions. And he has been honest with me to a fault. If he doesn't know something, he'll send you to a specialist. And I have ALWAYS admired his honesty. He doesn't play around. \r \r And his recommendations -- for both of my cats -- have always been spot-on. He even guided me through what I should anticipate when I adopted my present kitty, who was a very sick kitten when I brought him home. \r \r This cat is the love of my life, and I honestly don't think I would have adopted him if I didn't know that I had such a good vet who would take care of his special needs.\r \r And yes, they are expensive. But hello...this *IS* New York City, and prices are high for everything here. My cats are like my children, and more

They didn't know I am a nurse. 1/2/2011

The Doctor said something to me that was a little off, so I just left this is the second vet that I caught in a lie. I just now google anything I need to know, it is the same a a human same meds same treatment. more

Always report overbilling. 12/18/2010

They got me good telling us about the dog needed x-rays, blood work, stool and pneumonia. I rerported them for overbilling, found an honest vet who said the dog was fine. Please report to veterinaryabusenetwork.com. more

I can no longer afford them. 12/17/2010

The prices are insane and the bills just don't stop. They told me the dog was sick and had to stay over nite. I just took her home and looked everything up online and the dog was fine. How can a person afford a vet when you need one? Please look around and find a more affordable vet care. more

They ambush your wallet like it's life or death! 10/30/2010

Kitten symptoms:\r -Blood in stool (poop)\r -Diarhea\r -foul odor in stool\r -loss of appetite\r -sneezing\r -vomitted once\r \r My boyfriend and I took her to St. Francis Animal hospital. Total trip time was 20 minutes. My kitten managed to poop all over her carrier 5 minutes before we got there. They charged me $4 for cleaning the carrier, which I thought was reasonable. (they didn't tell me I was being charged) Then they stick a needle in her back and inject water, the lady was so freaking inexperienced that the needle FELL OUT! They had to stick it back in again wth...\r Then they give her all these medications without telling me how much anything is. They also gave me 3 cans of food which I thought was free. The pricing was INSANE!! The cost for barely taking a look at her was outrageous.\r Office visit $49\r Cleaning carrier $4\r Testing Stool $48\r Water injection $20\r Medication#1 $52\r Medication#2 $37\r Medication#3 $27\r 3 Cans of Cat food $8.25\r TOTAL : $245.25\r I asked more

St. Francis Animal Hospital will have my heart always 4/20/2010

With all my heart and soul I am going to share with all my thoughts. St. Francis Hospital has been there for me and assisted me for many years, first with my wonderful cocker spaniel Alliee, who I had to put to sleep after 17 wonderful years on March 6, 2007. My Maltese I named Bachi that I rescued in June of 2008. He was 7 years of age when I rescued him from the people who did not want him any more which to this day I will never understand. How can you give up your pet after 7 years! They just woke up one day and said, they did not want him anymore. Sad to say, Bachi was neglected. On 9/26/2010 I received the unfortunate news that Bachi had prostate cancer. I had to help fight this ugly disease for my Bachi since no one really cared enough for him to begin with. He and I would take drives to NJ every two weeks for his chemo treatments. We did this for 3 1/2 months, rain, snow and sunshine. It is unbelievable how he was such a trooper during this process. I really thought it would have worked I was determined to fight this cancer for Bachi and make it work. It was so sad and unfortunate that it didn't. So with the wonderful help from St . Franicis during this time we kept Bachi comfortable till the end. On March 12th, 3 years and 6 days to date, I had to make this heart wrenching decision again to put my Bachi to sleep. With Dr. Thompson by my side she gave me her strength I so needed as she did once before to help me through this very hard time. With the help always from Doctors, Brigande & Batatio, along with the support always with the help of their staff, who understood always what I was going through. They have been there for me in happy times and not so happy times. I know in my heart I will one day get another friend and I wouldn't have to think twice where I would bring my pet, it would be to St. Francis Animal Hospital. I hope no one has to make that decision I had too, but unfortunately we have to for our friends who we don't want to see suffer. I never put a price on my pets health EVER. I find it amazing that I would not think twice when it comes to my pets vet bill or how much the cost but for me, I would think twice I would spend spend $100.00 dollars on a pair of shoes or something I wanted to buy for that matter for myself. And the money I spend for my pet? It always finds its way to me. My pets are my children. Please remember, they have no one to speak on their behalf but for us. Thank you for taking the time to read my review today. I hope it helps you think about the love you have in your heart for your pet. What works for me I hope the same will work for you. Don't put a price on the best and remember, rudeness can go both ways.\r \r Take Care, Jeanette Marrone Pros: Excellent Doctors, reliable, caring, kind hearted. Cons: None! more

St Francis Animal Hospital 12/21/2009

ONE HAND ON YOUR HEARTSTRING, THE OTHER ON YOUR WALLET!! Rude staff and ONLY interested in running up your bill. Watch out, they will unnecessarily run every test they can think of in the name of "prevention". Be guided accordingly. Do yourself and your beloved pet a big favor and go to the Humane Society for superior care at a fraction of the cost. more

St Francis Animal Hospital - vets and staff are best in Brooklyn!!!!!! 10/24/2009

Dr. thompson, the other vets and staff are amazing wonderful people. They are not about the money. They do have to get paid for their services. Just as u would go to a personal physical there is a cost involved. You chose to have a pet and along with that comes the responisability and cost for that animals care. If u could not afford a pet or the care it needed then you should not have gotten one. My dog had a very serious back problem and they were very compassionate and explained all my options and the costs. They worked with my on the best options for my dog and I am very glad to say thanks to them my dog has made a full recovery and is his old self again more

the worstSt Francis Animal Hospital - Heather Thomson DVM is 10/18/2009

this place should be closed . beware ,totally overpriced, they have no care for anything alive. its all about the money. its a shame that they take the name of St fracise more

Uncompassionate. 6/3/2009

My dog was viciously attacked by another dog, she was in shock and bleeding profusely, I called St, Francis at 7;15p,m. and was told the doctor will see my dog but if the dog needs stitches she will have to send me elsewhere because she had to leave. I explained the severity of the attack. They insisted the doctor had to leave and that she would just check the dog then send her elsewhere. I will never, ever use St. Francis again. more

GROOMING 5/19/2009

DR. FRANK IS THE BEST AND SO IS HIS STAFF...THEGROOMER HURT MY DOG.... EVIDENTLY SHE FELL OFF THE TABLE TO THE FLOOR, AND I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT IT..THE NEXT DAY, HER NECK WAS SWOLLEN AND SHE HAD LUMPS ON HER HEAD N BACK...I WAS GIVEN PREDISONE N ANTIBIOTICS, WHICH DIDNT HELP. THEN SHE DEVELOPED A RASH, PROBABLY FROM TRAUMA THAT WENT TO HER LUNGS, AND SHE COULDN'T BREATHE....I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANY ONE ELSE..IF YOU DO USE THE GROOMER, MAKE SURE YOU GO DOWN STAIRS WITH HIM..I LOST A LOYAL FRIEND, SHE WAS 10 YEARS OLD AND VERY HEALTHY... Pros: GOOD DOCTORS Cons: BAD GROOMER more

Nasty Techs/Receptionist but Okay Doctors! 11/19/2008

I know many people who go here and the majority of the complaints are that the technicians are very rude and unprofessional (I have heard very foul language, explicit conversations, don't seem to want to help, standing around, not helpful, attitudes and sloppy appearance). I have called there a few times and was flabbergasted when I was greeted with an attitude or half ass answers. To get in contact with individual doctors are also a pain. The Doctor's seem okay but one never seems to smile, the other is very sarcastic and cold at times and the female doctor is AMAZING but very pushy and very over priced at times. I do not know if it is lack of training or not enough stringent rules, but it seems to me that most of the tech's. I have met there seem to not want to be helpful or are just plain nasty. I know a few people who have a lot of issues with certain receptionist because they have a chip on the shoulder, are nasty or are VERY unprofessional (I over heard a conversation of one of t more

Excellent Vet, not so friendly staff 10/3/2008

The staff here hardly ever smiled, like someone's done them something wrong. No service at all, don't think they can keep up with the competitive market, but their vets are the best! Very personable and friendly especially Dr. Thompson, she's very informative and watch out for your budget as well. more

Best vet 7/27/2008

Dr. Stephen Brigande is the best vet I've ever met. His compassion, knowledge, patience, and genuine love for animals makes him so special. The entire staff at St. Francis is top-notch. After each and every visit, they call the next day, to check in---even if we took our dog just for a check-up! We have a German Shepherd, and they easily accommodate a dog of his size, and Dr. Brigande takes his time with us, explains everything, and has made us (and our dog) feel very comfortable. Our cat sees Dr. Thompson, who is also great. After a horrible experience at another vet, I am lucky to have found Dr. Brigande and St. Francis, and truly consider them a Godsend. I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone. more

Amazing Vet, Wonderful Staff 6/24/2008

Dr. Thompson is hands down the best vet I've encountered. She is patient and informative and very thorough. The staff is great, they clearly love animals. \r This vet is not in my neighborhood and I take a car there, just because I know it's the best vet in Brooklyn. more

Words can not express... 12/26/2007

What is in my heart I don't have the words to express. I have been going to St. Francis for years. And yes as they are expensive but who puts a price on the unconditional love you get from your Friend and companion? St. Francis Animal Hospital is fare and treats their patients fairly and with love. My best friend, my loyal companion of 17 wonderful blessed years, my cocker spaniel Alliee was put to sleep last March 6, 2007. Doctor Thompson kept me strong through this very difficult time. With the love and support both Alliee and I received through the years remained till the end and I say they are still my friends at St.Francis Animal Hospital, and I would recommend them to everyone I know. Alliee enjoyed her visits there, what dog do you know likes to go to the vet!!!? They are that compassionate, so much so your pet would love them too.. more

Great Vets and Staff 11/2/2007

While the services are fairly expensive, the vets will work around your budget. They always let you know what is absolutely needed for your pet, and are very honest about it. I took my cat here just today to be neutered, and after explaining that I didn't want to spend more than $200, they axed several of their planned testing from their original estimate. My advice: Never neuter or spay an animal without purchasing a Muffins Connection certificate, it dramatically reduces the cost of the operation. I have taken three animals to this veterinary office: 2 cats and one dog, and I have always felt they have done a very thorough and straightforward check on all of them. I wouldn't go to another!! more

Overpriced 11/2/2007

I always take my cat to Animal Kind in Park Slope. He is old now and has had some health problems so he is on a special diet. I live close to 13th Avenue, so I called to see how much the case of c/d would be if purchased from them. they informed it woud be $42 for a case and that I would also need to have my cat checked out by their vet first. I get the same case for $32 from Animal Kind. So obviously it is just a mark up in price to generate more income for their office. My point is if anyone is looking for excellent care for the beloved pets and is not made of money definitely go to Animal Kind!! more

The Best Vet in the world! They are saints! 10/24/2007

Dr. Steven Brigande is truly one of the best doctors out there. Not only is he intelligent and professional but he is a genuine person with a heart of gold. He was able to diagnose our dog with Lupus and Lyme Disease when other vets had misdiagnosed our dog. With the proper diet and medications he gave us an extra 5 years with our beautiful dog. Dr. Brigande was always very thorough in explaining everything and never rushed our doctor visits, even when he had a full waiting room. He was always prompt in returning my numerous phone calls and gave us his undivided attention. He never did unnecessary work just for the sake of overcharging and was always very considerate and honest. \r Thank you doc. more

ok vets, not so friendly techs 7/14/2007

I have brought my dog there a couple time, last time was a couple months ago.\r This place was ok, I don't think it's the best vet I have been to though. The vets are good, I really don't have anything bad to say about them. They were nice and seemed informative. The only problem I had with the place is one of the Techs. She had an attitude and was not very personable. She acted like she could care less about being there. It really kind of ruined my experience there.\r You would think a vet tech would love animals (or at least act like it) and have a good attitude. \r Not impressed over all. more
