Best

Love going to the depot...the bartenders are fantastic! Parking is easy and food is served until 12...can't really go wrong!

Worst

Decent atmosphere, great TV's, good food, but the staff negates it all. There was not a singe staff member who wanted to be there, much the less provide beverages or any semblenc...

Don't go here!! 5/4/2010

My boyfriend and I went here last night, sat at the bar which had only a few people there. We ordered our drinks and got them, 30 minutes later we still hadn't seen our waitress to order another round. Finally she took our food order. We got the food quickly and it was terrible. The fajitas we so gressy, came with two small shells, the chicken fingers were laid on top of the soggy fries and 45 minutes later, our waitress finally comes back and asked how it was. I said it wasn't good at all and all she said was thats too bad. We both only took a few bites too. I would have ordered another drink seeing our had been empty for over and hour and ketchup for our fries but everything was cold by then and she was on her phone. Pros: Lots of tvs and keno Cons: Bad service. more

Great lively place 6/3/2008

Everytime I come here it is never boring. Between all the tv's, the video games and whatever else is going on (i.e. karaoke or trivia) there is always lots of energy in the place! The service is good and the food and drink good too..... there is truly something for everyone on the menu! I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a casual, upbeat scene with plenty going on. Pros: Quality, value, service, parking, atmosphere........ Cons: Sometimes very busy for big games..... Recommend getting there early for any big sporting event! more

Thank You 4/14/2008

Came in on Saturday night for the first time after I heard I could go there to watch the Cotto v. Gomez boxing match. I was amazed at the amount of tv's. There had to be well over 50 of them throughout the restaurant, with every sport imaginable. I wasn't very interested in the Angels baseball game, but interesting they had it none the less. I had a warm welcome at the front door upon entrance, and the service was good. Not fine dining service but what you would expect from a Sports Bar. The vibrant young lady was very attentative despite the restaurant slowing down after the BC Hockey game. The menu was a tad overwhelming, with so many choices, but I had already eaten hours ago, so I opted for something to munch on with my buddy while we had a couple drinks. We got the loaded nachos which were great because they layered the cheese between the chips so you don't end up with plain tortilla chips after eating off the top. BRILLIANT!!!! Finally, a cook who knows what he is doing. The crowd was very mixed, but it is obviously the place to be if you are in any way a sports fan. I will be back for the next fight, this time with an empty stomach so be ready!!! Pros: Parking lot more

I like 4/14/2008

good food, good beer specials, friendly staff, watch virtually anything you want!! It is one of Boston's true sports bars! Pros: many tv's, parking in front, good menu and service Cons: packed during big games!!!!!!!! more

Combative Manager while you eat 4/7/2008

Worst experience that anyone could ever have. The manager is busy conducting business outside of restaraunt and keeping the fire door open while on his cell phone. Several people watching the game asked that the firedoor be closed. The so-called manager of this facility walks back in and starts shouting at patrons. Never to return, but allowing this underclassed citizen to hold a customer facing position is not deserved. many people emabarrassed by the bad behavior of superiority and consending mannerism of this person. Pros: lots of TV's Cons: Unprofessional, combative, shouting clown in Management position more

Sick TVs. Hot staff. 4/7/2008

If you want to see pretty much any sporting event and/or game that you can think of, this place is the spot. Dude, they even had a rowing race on the last time I was there. If the game you want isn't on the main sound you can always get your own speaker box to have at your table. Everyone in the place is rowdy and raucous and really get into the games. Being loud is not only accepted but a key part of the atmosphere. The best seat in the house is either at the bar where cute bartenders serve you or on an elevated platform right in the middle of the restaurant where there are TVs surrounding you. Food is great and Ive never seen so many good looking waitresses/bartenders in one place - great service!!! Definately check it out! Pros: Tons of tvs, any sporting event, good staff Cons: Little pricy more

Terrible service, rude staff 3/30/2008

This place is a sports bar, that is about all that is guaranteed. The service is terrible! Absolutely terrible service and I have been there several times. I don't expect 4 star service at a sports bar, but the bar staff is so consistently rude it is a distraction from watching the game. Food and drink is average. more

Thank you for nothing 3/26/2008

So, you go into your local bar after seeing a drink special on their street-side electronic billboard. $2.50 drafts! If you know the Sports Depot, it's been a long time since there have been cheap beers served for local folks. This particular special was for Miller High Life. First beer comes and goes. $1 tip. Not bad, I think - 40% tip. Call me an old schooler. But I still tip my bartenders 20% if they do a good job. Maybe a tad less if the drink served is an over priced -tini. Anyways, Miller High Life-tini #2 comes along. With tax, the drink comes to $2.65 or something like that. I tip the bartender 60 cents. Not a grand tip, no kidding. But over 20% - for a cheap drink. No one said the bartender detailed my car and got my kid his shirley temple with an extra cherry. He just poured a beer. High Life. Cheap. Drink special. Brought it over. I put the 60 cent tip down, figuring it added to the dollar tip from before. He takes it. He remarks: "Thanks - thanks for nothing." Thanks for nothing. Hmmm. I turn to the bartender and ask him what he just said (since the old waiter in me knows I reached the 20% + mark on my tip). He replies, "Nothing sir - thank you - no problem, sir, thank you." So here I am, a customer in a bar - pulled in by a good promotion - being chastised by a bartender with no sense of decorum or math. Thank you Sports Depot, my neighborhood Local. $5 or so tab for two High Lifes. (Where's the guy from the commercial?) Over 30% in tips to the fat bartender who walked 3 feet to the tap handle, only to chastise my less than generous tip. Where's the reasonableness? Where's the etiquette? I don't like leaving change for a tip - but, c'mon, this is the High Life and this is the bar's special and this is a $2.50 draft ... and the tip was over 30%. (Did he expect that I should make up for his management's drink special with a 2 dollar tip on a still-overpriced domestic beer?) Is this the high life? Pros: Many TVs - all sports - in the neighborhood Cons: Rude service, over priced food and drink (in general) more

Good food, GOOD SERVICE (dont listen to SOXGIRL33) 2/13/2008

The Depot is an awesome place to watch any game. The food is great, (potato skins are the best starter cheeseburgers are wonderful.) Thursday night trivia is fantastic with the Red Sox, Celtics, or BC playing in the background. The service is as good as any other busy sports bar in a college town. to be honest, its actually a step up. SoxGirl33 might of been mad because Jason Variteck struck out with the Bases loaded and her BF was hitting on one of the pretty and smart Boston College waitresses (get over yourself soxgirl33) I live on the North Shore and I come down with friends to hang out there. Food and drinks are very reasonable. Check it out!! more

Its a shame......... 9/16/2007

The Sports Depot has all the necessary pieces to make the best sports bar in Boston; they have the location, the TV's, the parking, the menu, the beverage selection, etc. However, they are majorly lacking in one of the most important aspects, the service! I have lived in the area for a few years now and every single time I have gone in there, it never fails. I am served by a miserable, frumpy waitress who is clearly unhappy to be at work. Having worked in the service industry myself for several years, I always leave giving them the benefit of the doubt saying that Im sure the service will be better next time. However, after my last visit to the Sports Depot I will never go back. I overheard a group of waitress talking bad about customers seated near by, and it left me with a very sour feeling. Not only are they slow, unpleasant, unfriendly, unaccomodating and whiney, they are completely rude!! In conclusion, if management at the Sports Depot ever reads this, GET SERVERS WHO WANT TO BE THERE! It makes a difference. This place could be a freaking gold mine if you step up the service and quality of your waitstaff! Pros: Lots of TV's, cheap menu with a large selection Cons: Miserable waitstaff, bad service more

Best Spot in Town to watch a game! 2/13/2007

Plasma TV's everywhere you look (even in the restrooms), great food, full bar, attentive service, lively crowd, 2 parking lots, what more could you ask for? By far the best sports bar in Boston!!!! more

Worst Service EVER 12/3/2006

Decent atmosphere, great TV's, good food, but the staff negates it all. There was not a singe staff member who wanted to be there, much the less provide beverages or any semblence of service. It is a shame to waste such a great venue on feeling uncomfortable as a patron. Possibly the bar staff has a better outlook on working at a sports bar. Pros: TVs Cons: Service more

The place to be 10/3/2006

If your around the Bean Town its the place to be. A sure hot spot. Theres a great atmopshere, great people, great food, and pretty much you get sports, sports, and more sports. Every sports game is on one of there numerous flat screen TV's, not sure about the Yankee games though. They will even give those dreaded Yankee fans a table. Stop by, you will definitally love your experience. I definitally recommend. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere more

Always Great! 10/3/2006

The Sports Depot offers reliable and consistently great service- not to mention delicious food. The wide variety on the menu is inviting to every member of my family, from weekday dinners to Saturday night drinks and appetizers. I would highly recommend The Sports Depot to Boston natives and tourists alike. Pros: Location, Menu, Service more

Great food, terrific service. 9/20/2006

We are going back for sure! Not only was the food outstanding, I was impressed with the gorgeous TVs (too many to count) and very pleased with the upscale restrooms (Thank you.) Although the restaurant was busy and we had no reservation, we still got what seemed to be the best seat in the house. Our meals were delicious and the service was friendly but not intrusive. Perfect! It might be our new favorite place! Pros: amount of food and value more

Best Sports Bar in Boston 12/24/2005

This place is hands down Amazing. Every game I've asked for they were able to put on a TV in front of me, and they even have a Wi-Fi connection so I can monitor my action. more

scohen63 11/28/2005

I hadn't been to The Sports Depot in years and was very pleanstly surprised when we got there. Not only is it still the best place to see a game but the food was better than I remembered. We had the seasame wings and the tips. The food was great and huge portions, we left stuffed. The biggest bonus was that my kids were entertained watching the trains, while we ate. Pros: Everything is new, 50 42" plasma TV's more

It's a sport bar! 8/3/2005

I went quite reluctantly to Sports Depot with a couple friends for the first time, a couple weeks ago. I am not much of a sports fan. I was pleasantly surprised with their menu selection for a sports restaurant/bar. I had the twice fried wings and a burger. The wings were so tasty and the burger was made exactly to my order, medium rare. Now, for the ambience, there was a flat screen TV every 5-10 steps apart. I understand that some people experienced sub par service; however, my friends and I sat at the bar and the bartender and manager were very attentive. It is a repeat for me. Pros: Service, Good parking, KENO! Cons: Cold more

    The Food
Befitting a prototypical sports bar, the Depot serves up almost every appetizer under the sun, from fried oysters to creamy spinach dip. Patrons looking to stay in game shape opt for fresh salads or broiled fish dishes, while those needing a bit more sustenance stick to lineman-approved steaks and heaping piles of marinated turkey tips. Fried cheesecake and chocolate pudding cake provide one last caloric burst.
