Ahhhh! 2/26/2009

Spazzo is to be congratulated for their overall consistency! Always great! I have been there 3 times recently and this is my go to place when I want a good experience and good food. In the bar there is a fireplace surrounded by stools which has been the salve for this particular winter. The bartender is such a nice guy he feels like family. The pizza is imaginative and savory, the Mediterranean with white truffle oil is just delicious as are the artichoke appetizers with a mellow nutty taste they are topped with a little lightly sauteed prosciutto?.yum. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced with some more moderately priced choices of local wines and every day wines if that is what you are in the mood for.\r Spazzo is the best thing that has happened to Redmond Town Center in a long time! Go!\r Pros: Great food and service. more

All Around Fantastic Restaurant 12/28/2008

Great food. The calamari was excellent as was the chopped salad. We ordered a number of different entrees (lamb, pasta, etc.) and all of them were tasty and cooked well. The service was outstanding too - attentive and knoweldgeable wait staff who answered our questions about wine pairings and made great recommendations.\r \r I must admit I was nervous going to this restaurant because of some of the negative reviews but I could not have been more pleased (as was every member of our party of six). I highly recommend this restaurant and will absolutely be back again and again. Pros: Service, food, great for kids, festive ambience more

Best restaurant in Redmond town center! 11/21/2008

It may be the best restaurant in Redmond overall truthfully and sammamish. Anyways, you get the point. This is obviously my favorite restaurant, but all we go there for is happy hour. Their Sangria is as delicious as could be, best that I've ever had! Their pizza perrrrfecto, asiago cheese ""salute"" great, and their calamari to die for. Their service is usually always good and their manager always seem to be checking up on guest which is great. The only suggestion would be to add something different to the menu once in a while and keep the bread moist and fresh at all time. Minuscule compare to my love for Spazzo. All I have to say is Thank god Spazzo is BACK! more

I must have been to a different restaurant than those people rating it 1 or 2 star! 3/8/2008

My husband and I were looking for someplace nice for an early dinner on Saturday night. We wanted to try something new on the spur of the moment. I called about 5:30 and asked if we could be seated about 6 p.m. The girl who answered said there would be no problem if we came in.\r \r When we arrived, we were seated immediately by a very friendly young lady, and our waiter who was also very nice came by our table within about 1 minute. I ordered a glass of wine from their extensive wine list and my husband had a cocktail. We received our drinks right away and portion wise they were adequate (the wine) to generous (the cocktail). While waiting for our appetizer, I looked around at the decor & ambience which I found very nice, and the two-person booths were quite comfortable. I had to laugh about the review of the person who complained that it was in a mall... I guess the point is, if you don't want to eat in a mall restaurant, don't go to a restaurant in a mall.\r \r The antipasti platter was impressive and all the items were tasty. Our dinners were very good; I had the braised pork shoulder with potatoes and kale. The portion was huge (I had enough left over for lunch tomorrow), and delicious & well seasoned. Kind of like Italian carnitas. Simple food doesn't have to be complicated! \r \r Finally, we shared a dessert, bread pudding with cherries and caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream...which was wonderful. \r \r I would definitely go back. I thought the service was excellent, and the food was better than average to excellent. As I said, I must have been in a different restaurant than the people who complained about it. Pros: Food and service were very good to excellent Cons: You may not be able to get in...Redmond is so crowded nowdays. more

You can make better Italian at home so save your money. 3/7/2008

I just ate lunch here and the whole experience was bland and mediocre at best. Once we sat down, our waiter went over our menu with us with a lot of flair. Luckily he identified for us that their ""wood fire"" pizza was not like the pizza hut pizza we are used to. I'm grateful that my 19 year old waiter was able to educate me with regard to haute cuisine. I had their penne pasta that was supposed to be served with peas, chicken and prosciutto. None of my lunch companions could identify the mystery meat in my dish except that it was grey. The chicken was grisly, the sauce watery, and there weren't any peas........... \r \r I guess I can't understand how you can charge $18.00 for a plate of pasta and then leave out a majority of the ingredients. One of the gals at lunch made me laugh when she reminded me of how we were stuck in Minneapolis on a business trip and ended up having to eat at the Olive Garden next to our hotel. I have to say I preferred that meal to what I just consumed. Pros: Pretty, the bar was nice and they have a great wine selection, but so does Top Foods. Cons: Service, food, quality, overpriced more

Great eastside restaurant 1/29/2008

I have eaten at Spazzo a number of times, and I think it is one of the best restaurants and hangouts in Redmond. The wine selection is superb - they have some 50 wines available by the glass - and during happy hour they area available at 1/2 price. I think on Sundays they also have 1/2 price bottles of wine, which is a great deal.\r \r For the food, you can't go wrong with their pizzaz and pastas. I have tried their lamb and beef dishes as well, but I think that they do a better job with the traditional Italian meals. The meatballs are especially tasty, and my favorite item on the menu is the spaghetti and meatballs. If you go there for lunch you must have the Spazzo burger. You wouldn't think it from an Italian restaurant, but they make an amazing burger!\r \r One other thing to note is their weekend brunch - this is a great place to go in the morning, and their eggs benedict is amazing. \r \r Overall, Spazzo is a great spot to eat on the eastside. The atmosphere is good, the staff has always been polite and quick, the wine selection and Italian food is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. more

Oh so mediocre 1/22/2008

I had dinner here recently with several friends. The experience was just lacking overall. The place was packed on the Friday night we went but we had a reservation so we didn't have to wait for a table. The atmosphere ... ugh. Like being in a mall. Oh, wait. It is. The first bottle of wine we ordered was served too warm. The second bottle was fine. The menu was boring boring boring ... just the same old same old stuff served at most Italian places with ""upscale"" pretensions. I had risotto, my husband had lamb. My risotto was quite bland. The lamb was tasty if a mite overcooked. Oh, and the service was not great, especially considering the prices they charge. Servers brought the wrong salads and entrees to the wrong people at our table. We paid over $100 per couple for a simply average meal and wine. There are any number of places in Seattle that serve great Italian food at much better prices in a nicer atmosphere. If you are stuck on the eastside, I'd still suggest finding somewhere else to spend your hard-earned money. Pros: Plentiful parking Cons: Boring food and atmosphere more

Great Italian in Redmond! 1/5/2008

My wife and I where Christmas shopping in Redmond Town Center and discovered that Spazzo has reopened! We loved the location in Bellevue, then they disappeared. We walked into the new place and where really impressed with the look and feel of it. We did some wine and app?s in the bar and service in the lounge is top notch. According to the server, there are 60 different glasses of wine to choose from and all are ? off at happy hour! Our second visit was for dinner and the food was really amazing too! The Leg of lamb was awesome, my wife?s Bolognese was rich and outstanding. The good size wine list is primarily Italian and Washington wines, with some real focus on local producers. This is definitely the best thing going on in Redmond?great for happy hour and great for dinner with my wife or with friends. Parking is tough in the front lot, but the back parking garage makes it easy, and the place was packed on our last visit on Thursday, so I would call ahead for reservations. Pros: Friendly staff, know their wine...and the food! Cons: Parking can be tricky if it's your first time there more
