Would Never go here again 12/2/2011

We took our almost 1 yr old kitten in to be spayed. When I picked her up the next day when we could take her out of the carrier we noticed it was not our cat. I called up to the clinic and was told that it was not possible and that I must be mistaken. I then took the cat back to the clinic after printing out a picture of our kitten to prove it was not our cat. They never came right out and said it was switched, but they knew they were in the wrong. They said they called all the other people that had female cats the same color as ours and they all said they had their cats. We did not keep the cat because it was attacking and we could not have that with our children. 2 1/2 weeks later I receive a call from someone in Carlinville saying they have our kitten. Apparently they were trying for some time to get it back to us and the spay clinic would not give them our info. I will never take another animal to them. The receptionist was rude and the only thing they offered after the incident was a refund and the offer to spay or neuter our next animal. If you do choose to take your animal there check to make sure they give you the correct one back. more

Great prices & Service 10/7/2011

I came here after calling other area vets (including my own regular vet, who was the 2nd cheapest, but still much more expensive) to have my 2 dogs spayed. I read the other reviews before bringing them here, and was a little hesitant, but then thought, ""no one ever leaves good reviews, these are probably the handful of bad experiences they have had."" And let's face it, every vet's office is going to have a few bad experiences. The office staff was very friendly, and very patient with me (being a worried doggie momma), and one of my pups, who was shy about going into the office with them. In fact she was very sweet. My pups came out with no issues, other than one getting a minor infection from her licking her stitches the night I brought her home. But one quick call to the clinic, and they had me bring her right in, looked her over, gave her some meds, and some (iodine?) wipes and she was as good as new a few days latter. It's been almost a month to the day since my dogs have had their spays, and they are healed up nicely, and back to their old selves. I highly recommend this place, if you want to save some $, and just get your animals the care they deserve without the extra hefty price tag these other area vets seem to carry with them!! more

Good service and price 8/22/2011

After reading all the bad reviews, thought I would comment also. I had my female cat spayed here August 2011, and had no problems. Small Incision mark, healed well. Liked being able to pick up my cat the same day and no costly follow up visit.. Affordable prices. Good service to the general public who can't afford the high prices at the vets office. Places like the spay clinic help keep unwanted animal populations down. I am glad for the service the spay clinic provides. Thank you and keep up the good work:) more

After Reading Reviews 2/11/2011

I WAS going to take my dog to this Spay Clinic, but now I will NOT ! I love my dog, and there are more negative reviews than positive. There must be a reason. Thanks to the people who posted reviews. I am sorry to the person whose dog collapsed coming out of the building. :( So scary. more

I have had both my dogs fixed at the Spay Clinic 11/6/2010

I have read some poor reviews here and thought I should post mine. Usually only people who have bad experiences post reviews. I have had both my dogs spayed here and it has been absolutely perfect. The fee ($60) is less than half of what my vet charges and there is only a 1 week or less wait verses a 2 month wait at my everyday vet. The office has been clean and the girls have been professional EVERYTIME I have been there. I love the fact my dog doesn't have to spend the night. Every single vet on earth will have complications at some point and this organization has been around for 30 years so if they were doing a terrible job they would have been shut down a long time ago. I am not a big fan of the ""S"" tattoo but it is clearly stated on their wall and I do understand why they do it. Both of my dogs stitches looked great and healed perfect. They do only take cash for the procedure and I see a couple complaints. One thing you folks have to understand is that EVERYTIME you swipe your card there is a fee from the issuer (visa, mastercard, etc). At $60 for this surgery they cannot afford to pay these fees which can be anywhere from 2.5-3.5% everytime a card is used. I give them 5 stars and I promise I am in no way affiliated with is organization. more

bethalto spay clinic society 7/11/2010

the Bethalto Spay Clinic GIVES totally un-acceptable pet service. if you ask to TALK to the VET that did the procedure, the RUDE staff says ABSOLUTELY NOT!! these women that are so unfriendly talk to the customer like their a DOG!! this after paying IN CASH for 2 animal spays. why only CASH? no credit, debit cards, etc. is this getting money the easy way, and NOT reporting it on the business tax form. my animals came home with a lot of fleas on them. they had NO fleas when they went into the Bethalto Spay clinic.. this place piles at least 6-8 animals,NOT CRATED, in a cramped waiting room. the animals all are trying to fight with each other or could bite a customer. all in all, i'll go to my reg. Godfrey Vet, if there is a next time. Cons: untrained staff, unfriendly staff, dirty place, SHADY more

Stay away if you value your pet... 3/25/2010

My sister took her dog there. When she picked him up from a simple neuter operation, he collapsed when he walked out the door. She ran back in and asked what happend and if they could help, exact quote from clinic, ""Just pull him. He' s being a baby, we see this all the time."" RED FLAG ONE. She rushed him to the nearest vet who said his temp was so low that he was in extreme hypothermia and should have been in a coma. The skin of his penis was sewn to his actual penis and swollen 200-300%. She had to transfer him to a larger vet because she had never seen anything like the condition he was in. After two surgerires, they realized that the clinic had sewn a lymph node, causing all of these life-threatening problems. They were appalled and got no response from the clinic when they tried to inform them of the problem. Had the botched surgery been the only issue, it could have been... less traumatic. However, the clinic didn't answer, wouldn't let my sister talk to the vet at the clinic when her dog collapsed, wouldn't let us talk to ANY vet or even give us the name of the vet that performed the surgery. They were unbelievably rude, even when we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. They should be shut down. Though you can argue they are doing a necessary service, at what cost? PLEASE DON'T TAKE ANY ANIMAL HERE AND REPORT ANY UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICES OR BEHAVIOR TO THE LOCAL POLICE, they are already on record AT LEAST once... Pros: It had a building Cons: Everything else more

Provides a much needed service 1/4/2010

OK - First of all, and I think most importantly, this clinic provides a much needed service. Unfortunately there are a lot more animals in need of homes than there are people who are willing to take them in. Not fixing animals creates a vicious cycle of more and more pets that end up on the streets, or in shelters, where they are often put to sleep. There are many people who simply can't afford to pay expensive fees to have pets fixed, and the problem just continues. We recently took in a cat that needed a home. This clinic helped us a great deal. They offer one of the best prices you'll find for spaying and vaccinating animals. They also offered other low cost services. I was able to have my cat's ears cleaned, and confirm that he had ear mites. I was able to treat the mites, once I got him home. Money is tight right now, and we were so happy that we could afford to do the right thing, and take proper care of this animal. He's healthy & happy and has a good home now, and will not be playing a role in adding to the unwanted cat population. Yes, the building is old. If cost is not an issue for you and you feel the need to go to a sparkling new building, this is probably not the place for you. I'm sure you can find many places that will fill that need for you. We were OK with the older building, and we were happy to work around the hours they are open. If they had a new building and were open more hours, they would have to charge people more. The end result would be that fewer people could have their animals fixed, and in the end - that would result in even more unwanted animals - on the streets, in shelters and being put to death. In my book the older building and the shorter hours are life saving. Bravo Bethalto Spay Clinic!!! Yes, they move a lot of people through, and the waiting room is a little cramped. But the way I see it, many people go home with animals who will NOT be producing more animals. That's a very good thing. My family is grateful for this service, and very happy this place is in business. Pros: Offers quality care at a price you can afford Cons: The office is old and you'll need to work around the hours. more

STAY AWAY!! It's a crap-hole. 12/3/2009

This place is SCARY. Cons: Numerous more

Stay Clear 10/22/2009

This is obviously a rinky-dink operation. The place is filthy and the business hours are an absolute joke. Tues, Wed 8-4. Thurs 8-3. That's it. 23 damn hours. PLUS the place shuts down for an hour for lunch! LOL This means everyone there is a part time employee. Do you really want a part time character caring for your pet? Of course not. Find somewhere else to take your pet. Pros: More options than this in or near town Cons: Read below more
