OK - First of all, and I think most importantly, this clinic provides a much needed service. Unfortunately there are a lot more animals in need of homes than there are people who are willing to take them in. Not fixing animals creates a vicious cycle of more and more pets that end up on the streets, or in shelters, where they are often put to sleep. There are many people who simply can't afford to pay expensive fees to have pets fixed, and the problem just continues. We recently took in a cat that needed a home. This clinic helped us a great deal. They offer one of the best prices you'll find for spaying and vaccinating animals. They also offered other low cost services. I was able to have my cat's ears cleaned, and confirm that he had ear mites. I was able to treat the mites, once I got him home. Money is tight right now, and we were so happy that we could afford to do the right thing, and take proper care of this animal. He's healthy & happy and has a good home now, and will not be playing a role in adding to the unwanted cat population. Yes, the building is old. If cost is not an issue for you and you feel the need to go to a sparkling new building, this is probably not the place for you. I'm sure you can find many places that will fill that need for you. We were OK with the older building, and we were happy to work around the hours they are open. If they had a new building and were open more hours, they would have to charge people more. The end result would be that fewer people could have their animals fixed, and in the end - that would result in even more unwanted animals - on the streets, in shelters and being put to death. In my book the older building and the shorter hours are life saving. Bravo Bethalto Spay Clinic!!! Yes, they move a lot of people through, and the waiting room is a little cramped. But the way I see it, many people go home with animals who will NOT be producing more animals. That's a very good thing. My family is grateful for this service, and very happy this place is in business. Pros: Offers quality care at a price you can afford Cons: The office is old and you'll need to work around the hours.
