Southside Terrace Apartments

Just graduated, and a little sad to be saying goodbye to Southside. My friends and I loved living there. Going to miss all the great friends i have made. If you are looking for a nice place to live where you can walk to campus this is it. They rent by the semester and the apartments have furniture. So if you aren't staying for the summer you don't have to pay for it. But you can reserve your apartment for the next semeseter. That makes it a really good deal. We liked the pool a lot--but the weather didn't cooperate too much this past year. We got new beds this year and they changed out our carpet, so they do a good job keeping the place up. Southside is a a really good deal, and a really good place to live. more

I haven't had any problems with my experience in Southside Apartments. All of you complaining about the heat and hot water, I have not had a problem since I've been here, no roaches. Also, if you told rob about problems such as roaches he would do something to get it fixed. He is outside doing work on the buildings every day of the week, when it snows he's out there shoveling everything. If you talk to him, he will help out with any problems you're having. And about the parties, guys, this is a college town/college apartments, you would be naive to believe there aren't any parties, figure it out people more

The management are liars just to get people to rent.They told me they would fix the broken stuff in my apartment. They haven't been here yet They put me in a disgusting run down apartment right next to partiers.The homeboys below me play rap music with loud base at all hours and have parties all the time.Management will not do anything.I have called the police several times and they are useless.There is very limited parking also and hot water, so beware. It's definatley a rip off, and I should have listened to the others that warned me. more

Southside Getto didn't have enough parking.There were loud parties any night of the weekThe smell of weed and other illegal substances filled the hallways.Most restidents looked like they needed a bath. The heat hardly ever worked and hot water ran out quickly.There are old run down and dirty.Nothing worked or got fixed.It was expensive for what you got there.I wouldn't recommend living there unless you've got nowhere else to live. more

Southside is conveniently located within a 10 to 15 minute walk of campus. Some appointments are relatively nice, it depends on the building you get put in. On the other hand my apartment is a complete hole in the wall. I have roaches, a lot of them and for whatever reason i have the most in my entire building. I have relentlessly cleaned since the beginning of the semester but once you have them they're impossible to get rid of. I am currently on winter break, before i left i caulked every crevice in the kitchen and patched anywhere they could get in and out of the wall, the manager rob bombed the apartment over break so hopefully the battle against the roaches will finally be victorious for me. If i knew of a better place to live i would happily move, unfortunately most of the houses with rooms for rent are also complete holes in the wall, with the exception of a few. Here are a few stories about southside terrace apartments regarding the state of the buildings: I awoke around 4:30 am(after a hard night of partying) to hear my neighbor below me screaming, and a strange noise of something hitting the floor right below my bathroom. I later found out that after he was finished using the bathroom he flushed and in his words ""the toilet exploded and shot a stream of water to the ceiling"" The bathrooms in my building are in a state of complete decay, the girl who lives next to me literally had someone punch a hole through her bathroom ceiling with their foot. she could actually see into their apartment from hers. Although Southside is fairly decrepit, there are parties every weekend. Sometimes two or three a night and on two or three nights a week. Unless called, the cops rarely come to the apartment complex. I can't say so much for the the dorms as i would see the cops three or four times a day; they roamed the halls freely and would often trick kids into opening the door and then bust them for weed or alcohol. Furthermore in my experience in the dorms i was lucky enough to come across a variety of drug dealers, one of which was happy to leave his used heroin needles in the bathroom. Worst place to live in because of very bad management. At first the people are very nice..and set up a room for you. When I arrived the room wasn't cleaned and was dirty. I had to call them again to clean it. They did a very bad job of cleaning my room and then left. The paint was peeling off and the room was in a bad condition. The manager Rob and his family are racial towards the indian people living in the complex. It not a good enviorment at all. Heating would go off and on during my semester..and complains would produce no results. The last straw was when I moved out they charged me my whole deposit . I checked with other people and found out that they do this with everyone. There was no damage in my room and they still charged me my whole deposit.( I only stayed in the room for 4 months) I went to court and got my money back..but Renters beware!! Cons: Read below more
