Southside Cafe

We are foodies and this place is heaven! There is nothing about Southside Cafe that we didn't like. The food is fantastic - lots of choices, excellent preparation, freshest ingredients, phenomenal presentation....all of it was delicious, balanced, exquisite. Very upscale food at a very moderate price. The setting is elegant but comfortable. The waitstaff are welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable about their food. The wine choices are numerous and run the gamut of prices. Be sure to call for reservations, definitely get directions so you don't drive by it, and make sure you get Joe as your waitperson. My family had a reunion in Asheville, and we had our second night's dinner here. The food was spectacular, far and away the best that we had on our trip (which included the "Market Place"). From talking to locals, I learned that this restaurant is not as flamboyant and novel as others, but for consistent, excellent food, it's the place to go. That's not to say that it's serving "comfort food," or anything like that -- my wife and I had excellent steaks, my mother pasta, and my sisters fish & pork tenderloin. All highly recommended. Whether for lunch or dinner, this little cozy but elegant restaurant should be on everyone's list of favorites. Our favorite for special occasions, small luncheon meetings, or just for no special reason but to enjoy good food. I take every business visitor to this restaurant and have had nothing but wows!
