Southport Kennel Co

I signed up just to review this horrid place. This place has the most incompetent staff. The front desk staff is lazy and uneducated. The other people working seemed like I was interrupting them when they had to retrieve my pet for me. My friend boarded her pets there 2 years ago and the staff was friendly and helpful, not sure what happen from now to then. I had asked to speak to a manager about the condition of my pet and his soiled belongings and of course the manager wasn't there. I called 2 days later and still no manager. Left message for manager to return my call still waiting........ My pet was returned to me smelling of urine which tells me he was not let out and was laying in urine and so was his blanket. This place needs a lot of help and soon more

I cant say enough about the staff at Southport Kennel Co. My pet is not the most loving dog in the world. No other kennel would board him because he is mean, however I took a chance and called Soutport and they said they would board him. Dropping him off he showed himself and I just knew he was going to hurt someone. I had to put him in the kennel because he was so bad. I had to leave him for over a week, I was surprised when I went to pick him up and the young lady went back to get him and he was wagging his tail, licking and jumping on the girl like she was his owner. I asked how she was able to touch him and to my surprise she said he wasn't a mean dog he was just misunderstood. I was so happy I hugged the girl. I would tell everyone to use Southport Kennel Co. They truly love the pets that stay and took the time to work with my pet. No other kennel had done that. Thank You Southport Kennel. more

We've been boarding our cats and dog at Southport for years. They are friendly and always so welcoming to us when we come by to drop them off. We typically call ahead to schedule when we board, but it seems as if we can always get in if need be. They are great about making sure all of the animals who come through the door are up on their vaccinations.We have never had a problem and our animals are always cheerful when we pick them up. We boarded two dogs for a week, but the discount was applied to only one dog..............asked it to be split, which would not have affected total, but were denied. I WILL NEVER BOARD THERE AGAIN Pros: cost Cons: discount rate cannot be divided between 2 dogs more

We boarded our dog for 6 days and she came back sick. She had eye discharge, loose stool (can't use the other word because of the language filter), and was filthy. She has never ever been sick before. They told us it just started the day we picked her up. The vet that examined her told us it had been longer than that. They do not allow you to go back and see the kennel area and the so called internet video is not working (of course)...it sounds like a gimmick to me. Horrible place for your loved pet. This place is very clean and nice compared to other kennels I've been to. My dog and cat seemed to enjoy it very much as well. The staff were extremely caring. more

I have been taking my pets to Southport for about a year now, as well as all of my family and friends. Never have any of us had any problems. My pets love to go to Southport. The staff has always treated me and my pets like they have known us there whole life. I feel like some times my pets would rather stay with the staff then come home. LOL. My mom and dad are very old and the staff go's out of there way to help them with there 2 year old lab.I have 4 sisters and 1 brother and all of them board at Southport. They have never had a problem. If you want friendly, loving, people to care for your pet go to Southport Kennel. They have low price, and they are very clean. It never smells like a kennel. I give southport 5 stars. As for the Poor care review, My pets bed had gotten dirty while they where boarding due to alot of rain that week and Southport had the bed cleaned for us. Also the staff had went as far as to wash my pets, because they had dug a hole and played in the mud. They did it for Free! To me that says alot about a Kennel and the Staff. more

I signed up for this site just so that I could review Southport Kennels. I just picked my dog up from a four night stay, and I am very upset with the condition that he was returned to me in. He smelled of urine and his blanket was soaked in urine. As soon as we reached the grass outside, he had to urinate very badly. My dog is an adult and has not had an accident in years. In order for him to soak his bedding, he must have rarely/never been taken out. He also developed a sore in his ear and had loose stools twice since we?ve gotten home. He has been boarded before, and never had these problems on those occasions. Also, they returned a large portion of the food that I had left for him, meaning they either did not feed him or changed his food after I left instructions not to. He will never be staying there again. more
