One of our favorite restaurants 11/24/2008

Sonoma Grill just has a great feel. It also has good food and our service there has always been very good. Sonoma is just one of those restaurants where it is very comfortable and you know you are going to have a good time. I know that isn't the most descriptive review, but it is a little hard to explain. The easiest way to put it is that it is a good restaurant across the board... good food, good service and great ambiance. Pros: We love the food and the wine list Cons: Service can get a little slow on busy nights but I guess that is normal for places more

Can't be beat 8/27/2008

A great and surprising find! Not only is the food wonderful but the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. I cannot wait to go back! more

Finest near airport 10/9/2007

This place is a real find in the middle of the national chains. The food is superb and effectly executed. The menu is quite varied but delivers highly on quality. The wine menu is very diverse and the service is knowledgable and unpretentious. About a 15 minute drive from the airport area but definately worth the trip. If it was located in a more urban setting it would undoubtably be more popular. Check it out. Pros: Food, service, wine Cons: Underappreciated more

Best seafood in ages. 5/25/2007

After reading an article about Copper River Salmon, my wife and I decided to find a restaurant that was offering it this weekend. After checking a few favorites in Dallas, I was without an option so my wife suggested our favorite local spot, Sonoma. I called earlier this week and was told that they had just confirmed that they would receive a new shipment on Thursday and Friday. Well, with all the hype of the very seasonal fish, we were hoping not to be let down, and we weren't. Unbelievable! Like usual, we didn't want to order the same thing so we could try each others. My wife went with her favorite, the Seabass stuffed with crabmeat, and I ordered the Copper River Salmon special. Knowing how good their Seabass is, I thought I might be nibbling on my wife's dish more than mine. Well, I was right! But, only because once she tried my Salmon, she wouldn't keep her fork away. After a wonderful dinner with great wines that our waiter recommended we decided to split a dessert over a neat Zinfandel Port that was also recommended. We wanted chocolate to go with the wine and this warmed chocolate torte was to die for! Our server was really good and the ambiance was wonderful, with an artist painting a unique canvas during our entire meal. We left there wondering why we haven't been more often, as this was probably our seventh or eight successful visit to Sonoma since we have lived in Flower Mound. We are so lucky have this escape so close, we plan to return soon. more

Table for Two in the Back 5/21/2007

My date and I decided to check out Sonoma Saturday evening. When we got there they had multiple tables open both inside and outside. The hostesses were very rude in sitting us in the very back corner next to the bathrooms away from everyone. We got up and asked to move to an outside table and where rudely told 'there where no tables for two available outside.' Apparently, on this evening they had a new policy to only sit 2 people at the 2 people tables. I had eaten at Sonoma?s before and never had this issue. My date and I proceeded to leave and go eat a Thai Tango across the way in Parker Square for a wonderful evening. more

Wonderful getaway 9/25/2006

We came in no rush and elected to wait in the bar for a table. But the two-piece band, joined by a third, was so good, we stayed and ate in the cozy bar. We wound up closing the place, and after hearing the story about how the owner's artwork was tailored to the window design, took a tour of the dining room. So nice we have to go back, even though it's not in our immediate vacinity. Great service, a wine flight, and great food--well worth the trip. C'est magnifique, I think they say! more

Great Atmosphere, Food and Service 5/26/2006

I am not sure who the previous review spoke to but when I called for a reservation I was given great information in a very friendly manner. When we arrived our table was ready and we were greeted warmly. The wine list was comprehensive and the manager provided excellent recommendations when he stopped by the table to greet us. The food was wonderful, especially my rib eye. We also went for Mothers Day brunch and it was quite delightful and affordable. I would highly recommend this restaurant and find it a great addition to the Flower Mound area. Pros: Wine List more

Bad Customer Service 5/12/2006

I made reservations to take my wife here for her birthday. We both were wanting to try the place out. Hours before our reservation time they call to inform us that they had someone buy out the restaurant for the evening and they were cancelling our reservations. No apology or anything they just asked if we would like ot make reservations for another evening. I told them I was very disappointed that they even took our reservation if they thought someone was going to buy the place out and like a trained parrot the girl simply asked me again if I would like to make reservations for another evening. I can't imagine that they would know how to provide a nice dining experience with such poor customer service skills. Pros: don't know Cons: poor customer service more

A Bad Flower Mound Experience 2/3/2006

I'm not sure which Sonoma Grill & Wine Bar the previous reviewers were writing about because my experience was entirely different. The first indication was when valet parking stated the contract with Sonoma was terminated and I had to pay $5. plus tip for parking. We arrived at 7:50 for an 8 p.m. reservation and were sent (not escorted) to the bar. The only cocktail waitress there was extremely rude. We were finally summoned for our table at 8:30. The menu had changed from their web site menu. My dates pork medallions were very tough as was my ribeye. If not for my date, the wine, decor and food server, the remaining experience was entirely unacceptable. Having dined at Bobs Steak & Chop House the week before, I admit I am spoiled. I will not return to this FM establishment. Reminded me of the 1962 farm community I remember. Pros: Location, Decor, Wine Cons: Food, Service, Crowded more

Great food and wine in Flower Mound 11/23/2005

Its nice to know that this restaurant continues to shine when others fail. They are consistently changing their wine selection and menu to compliment the seasons as well as the changing tastes of DFW Diners. The Daily Chef's Additions tempt you with their creativity and ingredients. Their bar is a great place to meet for drinks after a long day at work. They have numerous wine flights and half price appetisers during Happy Hour Monday through Friday. Their resident artist, Richard Nunez, has been a fixture in the restaurant since the beginning and the new General Manager, Victor Rojas, is very knowledgable and can assit you in making those all important wine decisions. Service was also top notch from Rachelle. Who would have thought you could get it all in Flower Mound, Texas? Pros: On-Line Reservations, Fresh Seafood, Fresh Steaks more

Fine Dinning in the Suburbs 11/9/2005

Alright...So who would have thought that you don't actually have to make the trek out to Dallas to enjoy an enticing meal, educated service, posh ambiance, and wine that dazzles the senses. At Sonoma I sampled Crab Cakes, Carneros Tenderloin Medallions, Asparagus with Béarnaise, and a sinful Chocolate Truffle Cake. Let's not forget the WINE!!! MONDAY'S TUESDAY""S AND WEDNESDAY""S: Half Price Wine Night. Every wine was featured at half off the regular listed price AND there was no corking fee to take my second bottle home (that we were unable to finish). To me this deal seems unbelievable! Sonoma is definitely a must for locals and even Dallas residents! Pros: Wine Selection/ Price, Cuisine, Atmosphere Cons: No Private Party Room, Closes Fairly Early more

Fantastic Food & Wine Selection 11/9/2005

This is a great hidden jewel that is worth the trip to Flower Mound. The food is wonderful and the specials are often out of the ordinary & worth trying. The wine flights offer a great variety and the wine list is extensive. Half Price Bottles on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday allow you to splurge. The artwork is done by one of the managers and is amazing. The General Manager Victor Rojas is very knowlegable and if he stops by your table you will definitely learn something and he might even offer you a sample of something new and different as we were offered a sample of port to accompany our dessert. I plan to return again soon. Pros: Great Atmosphere, Wine List, Food Quality more
