A friend of mine, who had done a large remodel of her home, had recommended Sommer Construction to me for a small project that I needed done at my house several years ago. I was very happy with the work that Thomas (Sommer) did. He was professional, friendly, and efficient. So, when it came time to do my recent powder room remodel, I knew who I wanted for the job. Thomas and his team were courteous, friendly, very knowledgeable, and conscientious. They were respectful of my home (cleaned up everyday) and of my family's schedule (showed up when they told me they would). Thomas kept to the expected time-to-completion, which was important as house guests were arriving for a 2-week stay just a week after the job was finished. Thomas offered excellent suggestions, directed me to some good resources for fixtures, etc., and proved to be a terrific problem-solver. Most importantly, he took the time to look at the work being done-- throughout the process. This was of course very reassuring. I look forward to doing more home projects with Sommer Construction in the future. I have already recommended Thomas Sommer to several friends who are preparing to do projects at their homes. more

Thomas Sommer is conscientious and reliable. He managed and scheduled all the subcontractors on 2 of my remodels. Most of the subcontractors were very good, honest and reliable. I was not satisfied with the plumbing work and felt overcharged for it and for this reason did not give an â??excellentâ? score. It is my understanding that they use different plumbers now so probably the point is irrelevant. more

Sommer Construction was more than my sister Dianne & I could have ever asked for. Our father who passed away June 27th highly recommended Thomas & we are thrilled we followed his advice. She is in CT & we talk regularly. Everytime we talk, we are amazed at what we accomplished while she was here & had we not had Sommer Construction, it would never have happened. From our first conference to our final date, August 17th, we knew we were with the right people. The painting crew led by Santiago Reyes was absolutely extraordinary. His team was always there as was Santiago for every need. He was with us the entire last day & the punch list was completed with perfection. Ricky Calderon completed our plumbing needs with kindness & perfection plus he was with us our last day to see that all was completed. He was extremely kind & professional. Jose Hurtado & his co-workers were wonderful in fulfilling our desires for the yard. In spite of changes, Jose was always there to complete them. Santiago's brother & friend did a fabulous job with the tile floors & Martin also with the wooden floors. Martin & his co-worker leveled the the floors beautifully & constructed a lovely transition into the kitchen. Santiago's brother also did an excellent job with the fireplace. I want to also say that Carlos was wonderful to have around. His presence was comforting as he always worked quietly with perfection & a big smile. He was always there when needed. I must admit I cannot commend Santiago highly enough for his professionalism, expertise & kindness. His tasks were nasty beginning with removing all popcorn from the ceilings, painting high beams, nailing & painting floor moldings, completing a beautiful hand rail, plus touching up kitchen cabints with a stain he prepared. I'm sure there are important tasks I have forgotten but I do want to say I would highly recommend all who worked for us. Without Tom Sommer we could have never completed such a large project in the time we did. We are still amazed. He set up all workers at the right time & always was aware of what needed to be done & when. He worked around my sister & me being there which meant there were sleeping arrangements in constant transition which I'm sure was not easy for him or his people. He was totally up front with us regarding the first estimate & then with changes that came later like adding a fireplace, hand rail etc. He was very honest when an estimate regarding carpeting the stairs was incorrect & covered the mistake. He assisted us whenever we needed him especially with the flat screen & DVD player. He ran around for whatever we needed from fixing the dining room light to purchasing door knobs & other items. We became very close to him & enjoyed meeting his children & wife. Also Dianne had a wonderful time with Santiago Jr. at the park with her dog Bailey. It was quite a journey but one we could have never accomplished without Thomas. His workmen were just so great & Dianne & I still talk about them. We knew Thomas cared, wanted to make us happy & treated us as he would have treated our 96 year old father & this was so very special. We will remember them all & because of such exceptional planning & work, our home has a wonderful family who moved in on Sept. 19th. This could have never happened without Sommer Construction. I know I have forgotten some things but hope I have remembered the most important. more

Not usually one to write reviews, but in this case, I made an exception. WIthin the last year, Sommer Construction has done a complete kitchen and back yard remodel for my wife and I. As times are tough, I didn't want to have to spend money unnecessarily, but I also didn't want to have to compromise service or quality, either. I had seen some of the other projects that Sommer Construction had done, and after speaking with a few of their clients, I felt pretty confident in their ability not only to execute our vision, but to do it quickly, correctly, and in an economically competitive way. Long story short, they rock! The process couldn't have gone any smoother, and to somehow be able to complete our project in under 5 weeks is almost unheard of. We contracted Sommer Construction for a major remodel on our home. We added two extra rooms (including a sound prooofed media room) and totally updated our backyard incorporating an out door kitchen. Thomas and his team did an outstanding job. We would recommend them (and have) to anybody. more

Sommer Construction has done 2 remodels in my 1970's home and both have come out exactly as I expected. He has fantastic and well priced subcontractors, and a helpful staff to complete all the punch list items in a timely fashion. more

2 months before our wedding e had a flood in our home that did extensive damage. The wedding was to take place in our back yard and we had out of town guests coming to visit. We decided to use Sommer Construction because of their price and personal service. They did a complete home remodel for us and it was a great experience. They were on time, courteous, and they cleaned up after themselves. They went beyond our expectations. We also felt that we could trust Thomas, which was the most important thing for us. Not only does he do a great job but he is very trustworthy. During the remodel, Thomas always made the right decisions even when we were not around. We felt completely comfortable leaving our house in his hands. We are planning to do our backyard next and will most likely use Sommer Constructions again. more

When we were getting ready to build an addition to our house, I initially was confident that I was going to choose 1 of 2 builders who had been recommended by friends of mine. Then, I got a flier in the mail from Sommer Construction and decided to have them bid on the project as well. I was not expecting to choose Thomas over the other 2 builders but he was so proactive, upfront, and honest about what he thought it would cost, that we decided to go with him. My experience with Sommer Construction was great. Thomas was very solution-oriented. In any building job, there are always issues that come up -- that is the nature of the task -- and Thomas goes immediately from problem to potential solution. Also, he solves it the way I, the customer, need it solved instead of doing it the quick way for him. I had heard horror stories about builders adding cost for changes to a project but this did not happen to us with Sommer Construction. I really felt that we were well taken care of. We hired Sommer Construction a second time to do some stone work/landscaping in our yard. We got multiple bids for the project and, again, decided to go with Thomas because he was very proactive and his price was competitive. Another thing that was great about Thomas was that he met and even beat his own estimate for the scheduled time by which the jobs would be completed.
