Solon Bicycle is a terrible place. The owner Dan, is extremely rude and shouldnt even be running this shop. Everything is extremely over priced and a very very tiny selection. Go ...

Solon Bicycle is AWESOME!!! Someone earlier clearly had some kind of vendetta -- posting multiple bad reviews with different names -- classy. NOT.\r \r Seriously, Solon Bicycle is great. We've purchased several bikes there (from a pink kid's bike to the most recent buy -- a wonderful Surley Cross-Check), had repairs done, and spent countless hours getting advice, purchasing counsel, and riding information from the staff. These guys know their stuff, are all experienced riders themselves, and have just the right amount of ""bike geek"" to inspire confidence. Pricing is very fair. They have a great selection -- gorgeous high-end bikes to several ""first bike"" choices. I'm currently drooling over a nice Salsa Vaya -- hope to make it mine before too long.\r \r We feel really good about supporting local businesses, but they still have to earn our shopping dollar. Solon Bicycle is EASY to support because they excel in all of the important areas -- great products, great bike repair, outstanding staff, fair pricing. Two major ""thumbs up"" for Solon Bicycle!!! more

Wow, I came on here to write a review about the help and care I received from everyone at Solon Bicycle, and couldnt help but notice the other reviews.....first off let me say, i went in there knowing next to nothing about bikes, but looking to buy a bike for my son. I have other friends who have children that race their bikes, and wanted to get my son into something similar. The care and respect I got there was beyond anything I could have imagined. The people were very helpful and respectful. I did shop around and ask many questions, ALL of my questions were answered honestly and respectfully. Never would I refer to them as a ""low-end"" shop, and their prices are comparable with most of the bikes shops in the area. Sites like these are used to help other shoppers in need of advice, not for competitors to use to slam others. You cant go wrong using Solon Bicycle for all your biking needs. more

This Place is TERRIBLE!! The owner is extremely rude to customers. Very low-end shop. Everything is terribly expensive and overpriced. I will never go back here again! I highly recommend finding another shop who can do the job right and at a decent price. more

Greedy sales person 4/20/2012

These are a bunch of greedy people. I took my daughter's bicycle with a flat tire. The guy pumped air and charged us $20. Yes, you heard it right, it was $20. If you don't believe my review, read another customer's review at www.yelpcom/biz/solon-bicycle-and-fitness-center-solon. This one was filtered, I don't know why. Bottom line: Stay away, there is another bicycle shop nearby with a nicer service more

Handful of things. 2/9/2012

It starts over a year ago. I work in a bicycle shop and we encourage branching out and checking out other shops from time to time. Always good to support the local shops as opposed to mailorder. I had a friend go into Solon Bicycle to pick up a pair of bmx cranks, nitrous thrusters. When he shows up where I work to install them, they gave him two different types of spindle hardware. He immediately called to ask to return them and they said he couldn't and that he had to call the manufacturer. An HOUR after he spent nearly $75 at this ""high end"" shop and the guy basically says over the phone.... you're out of luck. They had this particular box open and on display so they misplaced the hardware mindlessly and left us stranded. Luckily I myself work in a shop and know people in the bmx industry so I was quickly able to call eastern bikes (the manufacturer) and get it sorted out. They handled it professionally and sent out two sets of hardware FREE to make the situation better. Even then said if something didn't work out to call back and that they'd send out a new pair free of charge. No questions asked. I walked into the shop a few months ago to purchase a Selle Italia road bike seat from them, and the guy with the beard was super rude. In the past i've been in for misc parts in a rushed attempt to skip mailorder and have been treated poorly. As if i'm bothering them asking for parts. In fact, the only completely polite person in that enitre shop is the younger kid who always has a big bright smile upon his face. More recently a close close friend of mine needed to build a cassette wheel fast and simply needed 36 bmx spokes. Needed to build the wheel that day or the next (friday) due to going out on a riding related weekend trip. He calls solon because the shop he works at had been out of Black 184mm bmx spokes, (but had every other color under the sun at the shop he works at in cleveland) so he ignored the fact that people have warned him about their bad experiences with solon bicycle and called anyways. They they proceeded to tell him $32 dollars for 36 black spokes. That price is absolute absurd! He ended up picking up a bag of 50 on the way out of town elsewhere, a higher grade even.... for $19 dollars. When the heinous price was discussed via social media on a private forum (it's america, we have opinions) the owner Dan proceeded to e-mail my friend via public forum, and even in person a few days later to make threats about my friends opinion. A nearly 40 year old man yelling at another member of the bicycle industry over an opinion. My friend then pointed out several distributors, mailorders, and different options for the same (and better) product at ridiculously cheaper pricers. All while these companies still make their profit mind you. Needless to say my friend stood his ground and wasn't afraid of ""physical harm"" or anything. He was happy to simply shrug it off. I don't ride bmx myself but through seeing these things first hand and even seeing how the owner of this shop acts in public over one man's simple (but fully backed) opinion about prices.... I will never do business with this shop again. Thank you for your time. The guys at Fridrich's took care of me, and also spin cycle. Check them out! Cheers. more

Horrible shop, Super expensive 2/6/2012

To start off, their prices are outrageous. If you look online or at any other bike shop you will find what you are looking for much cheaper. They also charge alot for labor, which I wouldn't mind if they did anything right. I had a chain installed and not even 5 minutes after riding my bike, the back wheel moved forward because they didn't tighten it correctly. A friend of mine had them install a set of cranks and they were spaced wrong and rubbed on the frame of the bike. As far as I know, Solon Bicycle has not done anything about it. The employee's aren't very helpful or friendly, and neither is the owner, Dan. I will never go to this shop again, and I would advise you don't either. more
