THIS IS THE BST BAR B QUE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, THIS PUTS ALL OTHER BAR B QUE ""JOINTS"" TO SHAME. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEYRE UP AGAINST. IVE TRIED IT ALL A SMOKIN OKIES AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. I TOOK MY FATHER THERE. MY DAD IS LIKE, ""ANTI-RESTAURANTS"" HE'S A PROFESSIONAL CHEF, HE'S OPENED SEVERAL RESTAURANTS AND THINKS ALL OTHER ONES ARE GARBAGE. WELL, I FINALLY GOT HIS BUTT IN THERE, AND I COULDNT GET HIM OUT!!! HE WOULDNT STOP RAVING ABOUT THE PLACE, HE TOLD ALL OF HIS FRIENDS ABOUT IT, I JUST CANT BELIEVE IT, THEN HE HAD TO GO TO THE OWNER AND GIVE HIS COMPLIMENTS, LIKE ANY GOOD COOK. OK NOW THE OWNER, FIRST OF ALL, SHE'S THE COOLEST MOST DOWN TO EARTH, TALENTED CHICK YOU'LL EVER MEET. AND MAN IS SHE TALENTED! YOU SHOULD HEAR HER TALK ABOUT FOOD, EACH THING SHE DESCRIBES, SHE DESCRIBES IT WITH SUCH A PASSION, YOU'D THINK SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT A FIRST BORN! THIS CHICK CAN DREAM UP ANYTHING AND MAKE IT SOOOO GOOD! SMOKIN OKIES ALSO DOES CATERING, THEY CATERED MY DADS BIRTHDAY WITH BEAUTIFUL FILET MINGON AND ALL SORTS OF AWESOME THINGS, IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I saw these guys on TV for BBQ. I drove by this morning, and noticed they were open for breakfast. Although I want to try their Barbeque (which I hear is awesome), I decided to pop in for breakfast. they have a $2.99 menu where I got a plate of Biscuits and Gravy. If their BBQ is anything like their breakfast, I may find myself living here!!! \r \r The food was great- all made from scratch.- and all for $2.99! The atmosphere is homey... not a lot of flash to the restaurant. I noticed quite a collecion of pigs- all decorations that customers have brought in. This place is a gem- Pros: THUMBS UP!!!!! more

Here's the deal....simply one of the best BBQ places there is. They use an old fashioned pit oven from back in the day (check it out in the front window (been there for years and years)). They have a rub and special sauce that is to die for and they wont break you when you get the bill. I love this place! Pros: Great BBQ at a great price. Cons: Not open when I want BBQ at 3AM! more

Wow. I saw these guys on TV doing a demonstration on Barbeque. On the show, they talked about slow barbequeing techniques, and showed a Pork shoulder they had cooked for 7 hours. It looked amazing, so I took a trip to the little joint. It was difficult to find, as they are not very visible from the street. This little hide-out is well worth the trip. The meats were amazing! Their sauce is complex and would pass as gourmet. The staff was friendly, making the entire experience fun. I highly recommend this place for everyone. Although it is small, the cozy atmosphere fits right in with barbeque. Wonderful! Pros: Meat, Sauce, Friendly staff Cons: none! more

I had only been to Bo's before and liked it, but I was fortunate to have someone order take out from Smokin Okie's and after eating the food there, Bo's is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Not only were the ribs tastier and more tender, but the sides and depth of the menu was so much more impressive than Bo's...not to mention the Peach Cobbler!! Top shelf in the East Bay for BBQ. more

I have never tasted this style of BBQ sauce anywhere. You can actually see and taste all the fresh ingredients and flavors. The flavors continue to please your palate through out your meal. Its not pureed like ketchup like you would find in most places. Very complex. I love the stuff! Why isnt this on the supermarket shelves? The world is missing out. WOW! Don't expect to leave this place unsatisfied. The gravy is made from scratch. (unlike many other places I have visited) They pour it over grilled biscuits, served with country potatoes and topped with 2 eggs over easy. Yummy! I have been here 4 times with friends and family. The food is great everytime. Big plus, they serve breakfast ALL day and night. Good thing they are expanding. Try it out. The food is delicious, the portions are plenty, and the food is delicious. You'll feel right at home, you'll make a friend, and you won't want to leave. Did I mention the food is delicious? Yes, the food is delicious. My only regret is not going more often. Find it, go there, and enjoy. more

Here's what 28 bucks got me tonight, the 26th of March 2006 4 links, no not whole sausages, 4 slices of one sausage. 2 ribs 2 pieces of turkey meat with sauce on it, turkey similar to sandwish slices 2 slices of brisket meat, equally pinner 5 bits of pulled port 2 small sides All this equals a total rip off, it wasn't even that good. Whomever is grading this place a 9.2 has never had good bbq. I have visited over 20 in the bay area and the list will grow, trying to find the best. This little joint is one of those ""holes"" that one should go in search of if trying to find true BBQ. The food was outstanding and all made from scratch. I've gone back several times, and have always had satisfying meals. One must bring a hefty appetite because they certainly don't cheap out on their portions. \r Their breakfast is superb- and they serve it al the time. There is a great variety in choices- from biscuits and gravy to the 2.99 menu. \r The Barbeque is downright cooked to perfection! Each of the meats are done over a wood-burning flame, and they certainly have done their homework. The sauce is the best I have ever had. I'm not big on side dishes usually- but these were great. The mac & cheese is homemade, the slaw is out of this world. \r I highly recommend anyone to try it! Pros: Really Good FOOD, Fast service, COBBLER! more

After a disappointing start to BBQ in the Bay Area due to the establishment across the road, I stumbled upon this place to find the best brisket in the area. Its has a wonderful flavor which is enhanced by the incredible sauce. I have now been to this establishment a few times and have never been disappointed. Excellent value for money. Now, if only they painted it up a bit. Its a hole in the wall so space is not its strong point, but so what. The food is out of this world. more

I read about this little hole-in-the-wall in a local paper. Given it's small size, I was expecting a small menu. Boy was I wrong. These guys really know how to BBQ- Tennessee style. Their sauce is amazing. Freshly made, and perfect flavors complementing their superior meat. I was so impressed with the meat quality that I asked the owners (both of whom were there) about their meat. All natural- free range- they don't cheap out, and it shows. The pulled pork was perfect- the brisket and pork ribs were amazing too. The three-meat platter was too much for my healthy appetite- and very economical. They convinced me to try the cole slaw- which I am generally not a huge fan of. I have to say, I will be eating cole slaw at this place every time I come in.
