No longer bringing my children to Smithtown Pediatric Group 9/23/2011

Care directly related to the Dr. you see. Dr. Valmassoi is fabulous. Unfortunately for her patients she doesn't work full time. Had trouble getting a routine issue resolved for my child when Dr. Valmassoi's was out for a week.. Covering Dr. wouldn't see or speak to me directly and wouldn't pay enough attentional to detail to resolve and routine issue that would have taken her 15 minutes. more

Couldn't disagree more with Smithtownmom 12/19/2010

I couldn't disagree more with Smithtown Mom. My children have been going here for over 7 years and I couldn't be happier. Although there are a few doctors I will not see, for the most part, they are terrific! I have never had to wait for a visit, they are responsive after hours and I find the office quick and efficient. I have never had to wait long in the office, and I love that they have separate waiting rooms for well visits and sick Ivisits. I also like that there are no germy toys, just a large fish tank that captures the children's interest for the few minutes they are waiting. Dr. Martinez is the best, as is Dr. Valmassoi. Kind, caring, patient and the best bed side manner around. You are never rushed with them and they really make you comfortable. They remember the children and their interests and talk to the children, not to the parents, to find out what is wrong, which I love. They don't dismiss your concerns, or research, as some drs do. Dr. S Parles and Dr. Bernstein have been around a long time and are well respected; Dr. B has a gruffer demeanor but he is exceptional. I can't say enough good things about this practice. more

Outstanding practice 12/2/2009

We have been using Smithtown Pediatric for six years now. The staff in this office is professional and efficient. Sick and well children have separate waiting areas, and babies are seen early in the am. to avoid contact with ill children. I feel confidant that my children are well taken care of there. Pros: Outstanding care, pleasant experience for kids Cons: no cons! more

We love Dr. Steve 11/2/2009

I have been using this practice for 15 years, I was also a patient at this practice growing up.\r I have not one bad word to say, my children get sick in the middle of the night I get calls right back!!\r My youngest had severe issues at birth and it was a problem NEVER looked for in a thord born male, they saw him everyday until it was figured out.\r I never have to call for forms more than once, presciptions same day.\r As for sick visits we always get right in.\r I have never had an issue with this practice they are wonderful and we do recieve individual care despite how much the practice has grown.\r Two of my children have signifigant ,medical history and Dr. Steve is always on top of it and gives refferals to only the best, even if I have to travel.\r Smithtown Peds is the ONLY practice I would go to!!! Pros: constant attention to detail Cons: not many more

A pediatric wharehouse 11/11/2008

We went to this practice after recently moving to the area. It came recommended by a friend, and seemed initially to meet our family's needs. However, after a few sick visits, we learned that this practice is just too big and too busy to offer individual care. Prospective patients should know that this practice has some strange rules regarding sick visits, such as that, on many weekdays, they don't schedule sick visits before 11 a.m., even though the practice is open at 8:30 a.m. Apparently, healthy kids are the priority on those mornings, unless, I was told by an m.d. at the practice, your child is having trouble breathing. (Basically, has the type of medical problem you would take them to an e.r. for!) When I questioned that the person making that triage determination was a non medical professional (it's the receptionist), the m.d. had no response. The m.d. then said that treating my 5 year old's severe double ear infection earlier in the day wouldn't really have made a medical difference, except "" REGARDING THE DISCOMFORT LEVEL HE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING."" I guess pain management isn't a priority of this practice. This m.d. then attempted to console me with this statement, ""It's not as if your child is at risk for permanent hearing loss due to the delay."" Hey, thanks, doc! Needless to say, we won't be returning to this practice. Cons: doctors have no pediatric bedside manner; long waits for sick visits more
