Always a winner! 12/28/2003

Been going to the Slow Club for for dinner for quite some time and have always had a satisfying meal. Excellent environment, excellent food, excellent value. Would go again any time. Also, decided to try it out for brunch one Sunday a couple of months ago and had the same positive experience. Pros: food/cocktails, dark, parking more

Consistently good food 11/24/2003

I have been going to Slow Club for 5+ years and is one of my favorite restaurants for their fusion of California and comfort food. The staff is great and the owner/host (Erin) is very personable. Favorites: caesar salad, chicken breast and burger (be sure to wipe off the excessive mayo glop, though). The daily featured cocktail is a great touch and the bartender's know there stuff (i.e.: you won't get a poorly made drink). Don't show up on a friday or saturday night, after 8pm, and expect to be seated right away. Pros: service, food Cons: sometimes crowded more

Fast and Slow 11/5/2003

I used to go to Slow CLub when it first opened a lot. It had such a cool vibe, but moreso, awesome food. The vibe is somewhat still there, chic city urban feel away from the outside potrero hood. >But the food, what happened? VERY dissapointing. You can't change what comes with the meal? Might as well be at Lions! and the pairings and portions have become very generic. Please fix this !!! Pros: Ambiance, Bar, Vibe, Service, Easy Parking Cons: Cheapened menu, Sparse wine list more

Where are the good 'ol days... 9/22/2003

In the past, I have had the pleasure of dining at the irresistibly cozy Slow Club, not even minding the wait seeing as the food was always terrific and the portions justifying the price. However, last Saturday I was greatly disappointed. After raving about it to friends, I was unabashedly engulfed in their poor reviews...although the service was great, the food has taken a turn--for the worse! The portions are 1/3 of what they used to be for the same price...and the pairing of sauce & entree was terrible. I truly hope that this was an isolated incidient, if not I am sad that I will no longer patronize this once hidden gem. Pros: Easy Parking, Good Service, Nice Ambience Cons: Small Portions, Over-Priced, Food is Inconsistent more

Dinner April 23, 2003 4/25/2003

Arrived promptly at 6:30 were seated right away. Reviewing the menu, found several promising items. Drinks: Cosmo, cold and tart. Chardonney House: Murphy Goode. We picked a nice Morgan for dinner (kept cool at bar during meal) 1st Course: Him: Turkey vegatable soup, hot, flavorful with just a hint of spice. Good color, nice veggie mix. Her: Torta Rustica. A nice quiche like dish wrapped in pastry. Good flavor mix of artichoke, feta, chard and potato. Main course: Him: Pan roasted Mahi Mahi. Well done, moist. Caper aioli topped fish a little too much (large dollop). Legumes were tender. Her: Roasted Chicken breast. Crispy herb crust with moist meat. Well accompanied with apricot chutney. Best was potato gratin, smooth with carmelized onion. Excellent dishes. Dessert: Chocolate mousse cake with vanilla ice cream and rasberry sauce. Disappointingly dry. Needed ice cream to smooth out. Overall: A rating, will go back. Pros: Easy street parking, Nice flavors, Good menu selection Cons: Music too loud, Dry Mousse cake, Limited Wine list. more

great food 11/21/2002

i love this restaurant, their food is consistently good. my favorite is to eat at the bar, since you get great service from the bartenders. i reccommend their fries as a starter to share. one of the best things about this place is the easy parking. try it, you will be happy you did. Pros: great food, nice bartenders, easy parking Cons: busy more

Burger without the Guilt 11/8/2002

Try the Niman Ranch Guilt Free Burger. It has all the good stuff but without the grease. Also the fries are really good, like McD but you can actually taste the potatoe. more

great brunch and great special dinner 11/1/2002

this place is a great way to celebrate Friday nights without having to plan ahead. they don't take reservations which is nice -- the bar makes the best vodka gimlet in the city (real limes!!). the food is spectacular, the desserts are always incredible. Sunday brunch is also easy to get into, affordable, but feels very special. more

consistently good 10/31/2002

one of the best mid-range restaurants in the city! i've been here several times and i always end up getting the fresh pasta because it is soooooo good. they also serve the tastiest steak in the city! Pros: value, easy parking, nice ambience Cons: no reservations more

I love Slow Club 9/7/2002

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Menu changes frequently so you don't get bored and the chef turns out consistently good dishes. Prices are reasonable, atmoshphere is fun. Downsides - they don't take reservations (expect to wait) and they don't have nice wine glasses. But they do have a full bar. Pros: consistent good food Cons: no reservations more

Great hideout 8/5/2002

Slow Club is tucked away in an inconspicuous corner in potrero hill, and remains a pleasure for people who know it exists. Good ambiance, not crowded if you pick the right night, good food, and good music. What more could one want.... more

Standard in Excellence 7/1/2002

Slow Club should make other restaurants run and hide. While you they don't take reservations, the bar is happening enough that waiting becomes part of the experience (it helps that their bartenders actually know how to make cocktails - seems to not be a requirement in some places these days). Once you do get seated, you just can't go wrong with your order. Recently, I had a salmon that was simply outstanding, and my friends were extremely pleased with their other fish entrees. Slow Club really sets the standard for good food in a simple yet stylish atmosphere. I would recommend Slow Club for a casual, fun dinner with a group of 4-5 people, and their brunch is also still one of the best in the city. more
