I have been here once with my husband for some grilled food. We enjoyed our selves and we plan on coming back. more

My mom was visiting from out of state and we decided to try Slate Grill. First of all, it was the best "nicer" (aka not Marietta Pizza Company or Gabriel's) meal I have had in the Whitlock area. We arrived to two very friendly and courteous hostesses and were seated immediately without a reservation on a Friday night. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and also prompt. We shared tapas including delicious scallops in a butter sauce, large and perfectly fried shrimp, and a mozarella and tomato salad that was simple Everything we tasted was wonderful! The wine list was just fine for us as well. I am really looking forward to returning to Slate Grill. Oh and the cornbread muffins and delicious warm biscuits are served with the most amazing blackberry butter. YUM! Pros: Good Tapas for tasting and sharing, friendly service Cons: None more

A few friends of mine decided to give this place a try since I live close by. We got to the restaurant and we were seated and had to wait forever just to get drinks. The food wasn't that great and the owner/manager did not even speak or come by our table to greet us, and he passed us a thousand times. It wasn't like they were busy or anything. As we were sitting there an insect that came crawling on the table. There was no apology and the waiter told us that it wasn't a insect. Just don't waste your money on this place.....I was very disappointed... more

My husband and I went to the Slate Grill for the first time on Valentine's day. We're foodies and go out to eat all the time, and we thought we'd try somewhere new. I'm also not a complainer - I've been a server before and I know how hard it is. With those disclaimers: we had a terrible experience. We were put at a table that was in the way of everything. Our waiter did not come by to greet us for 15-20 minutes after arriving, and by the time he finally brought us a water, the people who were seated after we arrived had already eaten their appetizer. We would have gotten up to leave, but it was late and we had already driven there, so we just decided to go with it. The food was pretty good but not worth the wait. I'd rather go pretty much anywhere else for tapas. Train your waitstaff. This place won't last. We won't return. more
