I came to skateland on Friday November 27th and before I came I called and asked do adults 18 and up have to pay if you are not skating and I spoke with Brittany who said no you don't. I get to the skating rink and my nephew who is 21 was taking my son skating, the lady proceeds to tell me that he has to pay BC he is a child. Now last time I checked 18 and over was considered to be an adult and the lady says that he has to skate. The manager comes to the window and acknowledges that Brittany gave me wrong information and that that's been their policy for 34 years. I'm sorry but if I'm speaking with an employee over the phone how would I know what policies are posted up in the facility.... I will never do business with these racist people again. All they care about is trying to get an extra dollar without following their own rules.....I would not suggest anyone ever go to this location and give them any business. I was very disappointed, for one, the rental skate wheels were dirty, and because of the stick scum on the wheels, it was very difficult for me to skate. Second, when I finally got a staff personnel (this person was on the floor skating) attention, I asked if I could swap the skates for another pair. The staff personnel said that all of the skates where like that, and she gave me a wet hand towel, and suggested that I clean the wheels myself. It took twenty minutes for me to clean the scum off the wheels. Because, I thought it was ridiculous to have to pay Skateland my money, and then have to clean their rental skates, I decided to talk to the cashier,, who appeared to be in charge, she also operated the food/drink concession, as well as the skate shop. I showed the cashier the wet hand towel with lots of scum on it, as well as my hands. I asked the cashier if I could get a refund of the skate rental, or the admission. The cashier made a phone call, and when she returned, she said her manager said that I could not get a refund. She said the cleaners did not clean the floor. The paying customers should not have to clean the rental skates. That is the employees (only three employees) responsibility at Skateland. Customers keep you in business. more

First off the staff there are very friendly and the prices are great. I also wanted to put out there that this place has changed alot over the years. I noticed that they have added black lights, led lights that are very pretty, they had strip lights that made it very cool when the lights went off. They also have a Big screen where they play music videos. That is awesome. I read the other reviews and I was shocked at what some people said. I also can understand about the no walking on the floor because when you are skating you are going faster then someone that would be walking and if someone runs into you it could really hurt you. I would suggest to go to skating lessons if you cannot skate well. I also wanted to add that their grilled cheeses are amazing. I would recommend this place to everyone. more

skateland north very popular in the greensboro area. It plays music that is family friendly yet, very popular among kids. It has great skate rental service, and food services. It is in a well lighted place, and there has never been any altercations among the customers that come. it IS dark only to serve the great lighting and cool disco balls that really give the place a fun and entertaining feeling. The kids love it too! The prices are decent and the hours are just long enough to keep kids from missing curfews. Come and you'll have a great time! more

skateland north is probably the cleanist rinks ive been to. i am a prevelant skater and have been to MANY rinks, and this one is probably the most safest and most organized one that ive been to. it is always fully staffed, with great customer service and serves everyone from children to adults, to beginners to more advance skaters. Your family and friends will have a great experience when they come! more

My son was recently invited to a birthday party at this skating rink. It was our first....and last visit there. The rink was dark and cluttered. I can't complain about the noise level -- that is par for skating rinks. I didn't think it had to be so dark. My son had never roller skated before -- and I was only allowed to be with him on the floor if I had skates on myself. That would make sense if my son would've moved more than 1 inch from the edge of the rink. Also would've made sense if I had any skill in roller skating. Unfortunately I don't. Thus it was a bad experience: wobbly Mom on skates trying to help inexperienced 4 year old son wobble on skates. I don't see why I couldn't have kept my sneakers on in order to be a more stable point for my son to hold on to while he edge around the rink's sides. I don't see us going back any time soon. more

I grew up skating at this rink, and nothing has changed in at least twenty years, all the way down to the carpet on the walls and the burned-out light bulbs. The ceiling seems to be caving in at one point, apparently from water damage. There is a section of the floor that was obviously replaced, but they never bothered to seal it, instead they have orange cones blocking it off. Skating is a great activity for families, but this place is a bit creepy. It is time to put some money in to refurbishing it! more
