Wonderful Clinic 3/16/2012

We and our dog loved Skadron! The staff and doctors were very welcoming and hospitibal....they made us and the dog feel comfortable and went above and beyond to accomodate. They offered to clip the dog's toe nails at no extra charge. We also had a test run that cost way more that we expected...when we explained our concern they actually credited us for the extra costs. They were very informative and had good answers to al our questions. No complaints and we will definitely be going back. more

You Will Love Dr.Moore 1/8/2012

Dr. Moore at Skadron Animal Hospital is the best. I brought both my dogs to see her from the time they were pups until they were both old and sick and needed to be put down. She is always professional, compassionate and understanding. She went above and beyond the call of duty taking my calls almost daily while we adjusted my dog’s medication for Cushing’s disease. She cried with me when it was time to put him down. I later received a hand-written personal sympathy card from her along with a poem. She also made a donation in his name to an animal charity. She always made me feel as though my dogs were her favorites. I’m sure that she made all her clients feel this way and that is what makes her such a wonderful vet. When it is time to get another dog, I would not consider any other vet other than Dr. Moore. more

The best vets around! 12/20/2011

I love, love, love Skadron Animal Hospital. My animals see Dr. Moore, and she is the most loving and compassionate woman I have ever met. She treated my dogs while they were alive, and when I had to put each of them down she cried with me and gave me the biggest hugs. Then, she wrote me a handwritten note to express her sympathy and sent it in the mail. AND, they also made footprint molds of each of the dogs' paws, and made a donation to a local wildlife refuge in each of their names. I mean, how fantastic is that! When I recently rescued my new kitty, I couldn't wait to make an appointment with Dr. Moore! She is truly the best. It is worth the drive from anywhere in the Twin Cities to bring your pets to Skadron! more

Dr. Tom Skadron is a terrific vet and Super Dreamy!! 2/24/2009

My family has ben going to Skadron Animal Hospital since Dr. Tom's Dad - Dr. Stanley - was there. I will never forget the kindness and compassion with which his Dad treated my cat and me (who was a very scared little girl at the time!). All of that wonderful intelligence and compassion has CLEARLY been inherited by Dr. Tom - simply the best Vet there is, no doubt about it at all (and, on a personal note - Ladies, he's also GORGEOUS! My sister and I call him the original Dr. McDreamy!) Pros: Parking lot, convenient location, great staff, FANTASTIC vet more

Best medical experience and it was for my cat! 2/18/2009

First of all, have you ever seen a busier place? I have been going to the Skadron Animal Hospital for decades, but I recently came to reappreciate the value of a family atmosphere and a doctor who obviously cares and is equally capable. I have seen all the veterinarians at this hospital and they are all as intelligent and caring as any human doctor I have seen. I think, perhaps, even more so. I was in the waiting room the other day, sitting with a guy who had a dog who needed to have rope removed from his dogs intestinal tract and 2 other people who had dogs with bladder surgeries. Then 2 puppies came through the door. So happy. I think Dr. Tom Skadron is the Michael Jordan of this business. He is blessed with a combination of things that seem to come natural to him, like caring, caring, caring, lots of ability to explain, and knowledge to break it all down in a way that I can understand, charm, but it is all blended with an intense and obvious effort. Not like those guys the teams draft in the first round, have all the God given ability, but just lack the effort. He doesn't seem to ever take it for granted that he has such an amazing practice. I can tell on the faces of eceryone who walks in and out of there, that they feel that they are appreciated. I always do and I watch to see if it is just me, or if everyone seems to leave with the same look on their face and they do. This place and that doctor is just the best. Pros: greatest care, competance, effort more

Bring Your Hound to Skadron Animal Hospital 10/21/2008

I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with Skadron Animal Hospital. As an individual who has been in my customer service situations I would say they are very friendly and responsive to their clients. Recently, I needed vaccine records for my dog and they were quick to provide me with the information. Previously, my dog had contracted Lyme's disease and they were very kind in their care giving and they were responsive to all of my phone calls during the ordeal.\r \r Dr. Tom has quite a connection /appreciation for dogs and I feel my hound is in great hands with him. more

Best Vet Ever 8/18/2008

Dr. Tom and his staff are fantastic. We found Dr. Tom about 9 years ago and would never even consider another vet. A great way to describe him would be a walking Saint Francis of Assisi (the patron saint of animals). He has a genuine gift of making even the most neverous dog and owner more comfortable. My parents had a dog that had to have tranquilizers before he went to the vet; but after meeting Dr. Tom, he never needed one again.\r \r He also helped up with our Vizsla/Lab Cross who had cancer. We decided to go to him for a second opinion as we were just not satisfied with the service and support of our other vet. They basically gave up on us. Unfortunately the cancer did win eventually; but even before she passed Dr. Tom wanted to check her out and see if he had absolutely covered every single angle of her illness. I firmly believe that if it was not for Dr. Tom, Cinnamon would not have had the quality of life that she would have had if we had not decided to have him take a look at her.\r \r We now have another Vizsla age (who has Dr. Tom wrapped around her paw) and a Lab/Springer Cross 8 1/2. They have been patients of Dr. Tom since they were puppies. We have some kidney issues with our Lab/Springer that Dr. Tom found right away when she was young. Not only did he explain her condition in ways that we could understand; but he has always worked with us to keep her happy and healthy.\r \r No matter what, he always takes the time to meet and explain things to you and encourages you to ask questions. You may ask the same question or not understand something, and he will always take the time to make sure you are not confused. He also follows up on his patients, and will call you if you do not call him. He has even called us on his vacation to follow up with one of our animals. He cares and understands how important pets are to families and our society. We will never go anywhere else and we will always recommend him and his team to our friends and family. Pros: Takes awesome care of this patients and their owners. Cons: Sometimes hard to get into, and sometimes a little more pricey; but he will always work with on both. more

""Best in Show"" that is how to describe this Veterinarian 6/5/2008

We drive 180 miles round trip to bring our dog to see Dr. Tom Skadron. He is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up to date on the latest veterinary procedures, medications and trends. He has up to date digital technology in the office, something you do not see everywhere. We are confident and trust completely in Dr. Skadron's recommendations for our dog. He is truly a caring person....he calls or emails us personally to check on any medical progress with our beloved pet. While in his office, he closes out the rest of the world to focus on you and your concerns. He takes the time to explain things in detail. We attribute our dog's long and healthy life to care from Dr. Tom Skadron. You will find the staff at his office has the same care and concern...willing to do whatever to help. It proves to me, that he leads a team with a philosophy of \r love, respect and ""niceness"" you typically cannot find.\r \r We could have chosen any veterinarian...but I pick the vet who will come to the car to remove stitches, so our nervous 15 year old dog could be happy.\r \r more

Took us in when our other vet wouldn't 3/17/2008

My dog definately had an ear infection, which I wanted to get medicine for before we headed up to the cabin for the weekend, but our vet we had had for over 2 years (not to name names, but its on Grand Ave.) wouldn't take us in last minute, but Skadron took us in right away and they were great! We got the medicine we needed quickly and were on our way. more

This is the most exceptional medical office experience and relationship that I have encountered. 5/26/2007

It is an unusual experience to have a medical professional speak to you in a way that allows you to understand yet not feel belittled. I L-O-V-E Dr. Tom Skadron. Everyone else does too and his schedule shows it -- he is starting to be a little bit tough to get an appointment with due to demand but it is worth it. I have had the opportunity to see the other Dr.s there and they have all been excellent. I brought my new puppy in recently and was able to ask and have answered any question and concern that came to mind. The place is always swarming with people and their pets which is usually really fun. I love that the practice has computerized records -- no paper folders which seems to allow them to quickly review old lab work and files. Even the xrays that were taken of one of my dog's paw shows up on this little computer the Dr. carries around. This practice is also the only one in our area that is certified by the American Animal Hospital Association. I found that out by going to the AAHA web site to look for an accredited practice when I moved to St. Paul. My favorite part of bringing my pets there is the interaction of the Doctors and the pets and their families. At other practices I have been to, the doctor would spend very little time in the room and it is actually the nurse that does most of the interaction with us and our dogs. Skadron's seems to be the opposite. The Dr.s do the entire exam and have time to consider questions, concerns, and the well being of our pets. Really great combination of ultra modern equipment and old fashioned interpersonal , and doctor patient relations. I would take my kids there if they would hire a pediatrician! Really great. Pros: Excellent Old fashioned sevice and also very up to date. Caring. Cons: Dr. Skadron was not available on the morning that I wanted to see him recently, but I guess I can't expect him to be popular and available every time I need want him to be. more

saved my cat's life 3/20/2007

my cat had an intestinal tumor that 2 other vets could not figure out. He was near death and Dr. Skadron removed the mass surgically, along with that part of the intestinal tract and he has done great for over a year. He is geting fat again which is another story, but thank goodness for Dr. Skadron! Pros: Very professional, up to date, and friendly. Completely computerized, which is slick. Cons: Very busy practice, so have to wait occasionally for emergencies. Well worth it though. more
