Great staff! Great Patio! 10/10/2010

We had a night out here .. more like an entire evening out here a few nights ago. I don't know why I had not been to this place before. Great food, great service... and it was not slow. Atlanta is notorious for its poor service so when you find a decent place to hang at with out wanting to write a message on the receipt, it's a plus. I have to admit I am a sucker for some fried shrimp. Definitely we will return soon, hopefully before it gets too cold. more

Best patio in Atlanta 5/20/2010

SFU is my favorite place in Atlanta to get fresh seafood. It's reasonably priced. From April to October the rooftop deck is a great place for business dinners as well as a great place to take a date. The food can take a while but the wait staff is good at keeping a full beverage in front of you. Pros: great outdoor bar, great food, great crowd Cons: The wait can be long if you dont make a reservation more

disapponted since the move 1/18/2010

I have been eating at SFU for over 5 years, even before they move into the new building. I used to love it & ate there quite frequently, even bringing out of town guests there. I have been back a few times since the move into the new building. Today I went for lunch, with a date, & I found our waitress impatient. There was not a wait, there were tables available, so I am not sure what the rush was. She gave us very little time to peruse the drink menur, & barely gave us time to really examine food menu, which was slightly differen than in the pastt. We oredered drinks, which she delivered & then took the appetizer order. I wasn't ready to order my lunch entree & she seemed totally annoyed. I have worked in the service industry, there appeared to be no rush by looking it around. When she returned, I told her that we needed to slow the pace of everything, & she backed off a little after that. The calamari was the same great dish, as always. I ordered seared tuna for lunch, which used to come plated with wonderful slaw- they served it on a bed of spinach & other vegetables that seemed a soggy miss-matched mess with seared tuna crusted with black seasame seeds. I wouldn't have served them to anyone. Tuna quality was good & cooked properly, but in the current way that they plate & serve it, it was hardly worth $14.50. My companion ordered gumbo & a oyster poyboy. Gumbo was okay & the oysters on the poboy tasted as if they'd been deep fried earlier in the day, & weren't seasoned really well. Pros: great raw bar Cons: changes to some menu items not for the better more

Great Seafood in the A 7/26/2009

This place is a true hidden gem. The seafood is top-notch,with a wait staff to match. I ordered the gator bites for my appetizer, huge portion for 10.50 and served with a delicious dippin sauce. For lunch I ordered the calamari tacos with zucchini fries and my buddy got the crab cake po'boy, both were very tasty. The home-made chips instead of the typical fries were a nice touch. I'll defintly be back for more... Pros: attentive staff, comp vallet, delicious food more

Terrible customer service 6/26/2009

The manager at this place does not understand concept of customer service at all!!!!! I came there with some people after a friend of ours graduated. We were a larger group and called ahead to make sure that they can sit us all. They did not tell us that the whole group had to be there for us to be able to sit. We got there and 5 out of 9 of us were ready to sit down and order at least some drinks and appetizers. We were told that we can just sit and wait for the rest of our party to show up and the will not sit us. I asked to talk to a manager and she told me that this is the rule and if I don't like it I can just leave. I have never in my life have been spoken to so rudely by someone who I was going to pay for a service. So we just had to sit there and wait for the rest of the group to get in so we can sit down and eat the very mediocre food that they serve. Such an unpleasant experience that I have told many friends about it and refuse to go to any of their locations ever again!!! Cons: Bad management more

What a great place! 8/12/2008

Six Feet Under is just awesome. A great restaurant. Great place to get a drink. Great seafood and food. Creative menu selection. I love the atmosphere. It has the feel of a nice restaurant but still maintains the neighborhood hang out feel. Pros: Great food, great atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Steamer is Best Thing on Menu! 8/8/2008

Whenever I have been to Six Feet Under, we go with a group of people and split a steamer or two between all of us plus some appetizers. The steamer is basically low country boil fare with shrimp, mussels, clams, potatoes, spicy sausage and corn. Depending on the time of year this Westside location will have crawfish! Usually everyone can find something that they'll eat. Our favorite appetizers to get are fried oysters, hush puppies and one or two other things that seem interesting. The wait staff has never been that great, but then again, our group doesn't go there for the service. This is definitely not on the same level as other area pubs...it is more of a college twenty-something crowd. We go for the food, the goodtimes, and the beer. more

so chaotic 8/2/2008

Parking was a pain! For a weekday evening, it was somewhat crowded, but not crowded enough to have poor service. I sat down with 5 other people, and we had 3-4 different servers approach us. Not to mention, my salad was super salty, and refills on the drinks also came slow, then the check took about another a thousand years. The servers seemed nice, but their appearence for a Midtown restaurant was definitely for a rock show. Expect a wait for the roof top of course, it's always the high demand for 6 feet under. Pros: none that i found Cons: service, servers need to look on their show for business people who walk in... not a rock concert more

Good patio and good beer - if you're willing to wait 7/2/2008

I love to go to 6FU on Memorial Drive for a quiet beer. I've never liked the food, but the cozy atmosphere made up for that. Going to the Westside location was like a bad dream. The food was just as bad as ever, the service was unbelievably slow and valet parking....let's just say it's a total 180 from the other location - it has none of its charm. more

DANGEROUS PARKING ON STREET - USE VALET 4/20/2008

First time at this place - my window go broken into and my stuff was stolen. I was inside for 1 hour on a Sunday afternoon. I asked the manager if this is common and he said "" it happens several times a week."" DONT PARK ON THE STREET. Cons: Dangerous Area more

Neighborhood Bar on Steroids 3/3/2008

Yes, it's good. Yes, it's crowded. Yes, it's noisy. Yes, the wait staff passes for entertainment! Pros: Great Deck and lot's of room Cons: Forced Valet is too much! more

Freshest Seafood; Fantastic View; Friendly Folks; Large Variety of Food and Drinks; Yep, I'm HOOKED!! 1/23/2008

I am an out of towner and it is important when I come into Atlanta not to take chances on eating just anywhere. I have tried several and hands down, Six Feet Under is the best overall. Any pick off of their menu is just the freshest and always cooked just right with that Southern flare. I use to eat at the Grant Park location, which is a close neighborhood feel and neat being across from the famous Oakland Cemetery, didn't think they could beat what they had there, but they did - the Westside location is much bigger with a panoramic view from the big deck upstairs (they even have another bar up on the deck) - check it out when the city sky is full of fireworks, WOW!! Folks at Six Feet are very friendly and it shows that they care about you - the customer - they will make sure you have that Six Feet experience, whether it is your first visit or you are one of their regulars. They have free valet parking, no smoking until 10pm for families with children or people with allergies. They have thought of everything - even the prices are easy on the old pocketbook. If you haven't tried Six Feet Under it's time you gave yourself a treat!! You could say, they've got me and my friends HOOKED!! more

Great Seafood, Great Atmosphere 1/22/2008

I LOVE SIX FEET UNDER- Best View of the city. If you want really good seafood, Six Feet Under is the choice! more

Atlanta's Overpriced Version of Long John SIlvers 10/21/2007

My hair stylist recommended this place to me and said it had great food. Ended up there on a date with my boyfriend soon after. There is a view, but it's nothing to write home about. You can see a bit of downtown but the immediate view is on the sore side. And the food is about the same. I thought it was overpriced Long John Silvers. Also, don't get the raspberry margarita. They use a syrup to make it instead of a juice... I sent mine back because I wasn't about to pay $8 for something that was barely worth $2. I would not go back there. There are tons of places all over the city that have better food, drinks, and a view for the same price. Pros: Large space, hosting station was pleasant Cons: the food, the cocktails, the waiter, the outside lighting more

You won't beat this view anywhere in Atlanta 9/5/2007

The place is fantastic, and most people don't even know that it exists. It is a newly constructed building with a dining area and a huge bar downstairs (and an equally large beer selection). There are steps that lead up to a rooftop patio where there is another bar and another seating area. You will be shocked by the panoramic views of the downtown, midtown, and buckhead skylines. While I will be the first to admit that I am a tough critic, I felt that the food fell short of the atmosphere (they seemingly have the same menu at both locations). I went right after they opened and they appeared to be short staffed, however our server was very accommodating. I'm sure that they have worked out the kinks of opening a new restaurant by now. Although I live closer to the origional Six Feet Under, I will return if for nothing other than the view. Pros: view Cons: mediocre food more

Baked Grouper? 7/26/2007

Yes and it is awesome!! The food is great. The beer selection is really good as well. There are several rotating taps as well as a lot of local beers. The deck has one of the most spectacular views of Atlanta. I love the simplicity of the food and the place. Bravo. more

Great place for high-end pub food and well worth the wait for seating 7/11/2007

My wife and I heard about the new Six Feet Under on the west side of mid-town Atlanta and we decided to check it out. When we arrived we valet parked (free) because I didn't know the area and this was very convenient. When we walked in, we wanted to seat on the upstairs patio but there was a 30 minute wait. But here's the surprising part: Instead of giving us one of those clunky restaurant pagers, they had a very cool wait management system that I had never seen before and I had to ask about because it really helped keep us at the restaurant instead of going some place else. They used a system by Queuent that called us on our mobile phones when seating was available. So even though we had to wait a while for our pristine table, we didn't have to keep track of one of those damn restaurant pagers and we were able to stand outside and have a conversation. After about 25 minutes, we received a call letting us know that seating was available and given options to confirm, delay, or cancel - We selected confirm. Pros: Great location, great view, and a great way to handle waiting for tables Cons: We didn't have any. more

Southern Style Fish Camp Arrives On The Westside! Pass The Hush Puppies, Please! 4/25/2007

Yes, prayers do get answered. And no longer do we have to schelp over to Memorial Dr., but just buzz over to 11th.St/Northside Dr. in the close-by Westside. And yes, Six Feet Under-Westside, has arrived. No we are not overlooking Oakland Cemetary, where my relatives are resting, but this is the up and coming part of Midtown. We didn't even have to think about what to order. Fried, fried, and more fried. Starting with those crisp and crunchy, Fried Green Tomatoes w/ a tangy dipping sauce. The Georgia Catfish Platter here rules, with the white raisin laced coleslaw, and those Hush Puppies, from heaven. I had my ususal fried Combo Basket w/Cod, Shrimp, & Oysters. And served with a side of housemade Tartare Sauce. And those Hush Puppies. The Bloody Mary Bar is here on weekends, and the Cajun Mary is to die for. Very affordable. And did I say to pass those Hush Puppies again! Pros: Fresh, Affordable Southern Seafood! Hush Puppies! Weekend Bloody Mary Bar! Cons: Yes It's Fried, But That's The Only Way! Bravo! more
