Like another review I read, if I could give a lower rating I WOULD!! I came here to get a short asymmetrical cut and even chose a picture from one of the books for the hair stylist to follow. She kept reassuring me that she could cut it how I wanted it. When I came to the salon, my hair was mid back. The style I wanted was a few inches longer by the neck and the photo I chose was also, but when my stylist spun me around she had already cut my hair way too short and continued to ask me "Is this too short?" LORD WAS I ANGRY! WHO IN THE RIGHT MIND CUTS IT AND THEN PROCEEDS TO ASK IF IT'S TOO SHORT?!?!?! My stylist begun to tell me that she couldn't cut it the way I wanted. \r \r WHY DIDN'T SHE TELL ME BEFORE. \r \r Needless to say, by the time I decided to stop her my hair was already a disaster. The back was cut straight across right on my neck and the layers on top were so jagged and rough. I had a bowl cut when I walked out of there. \r \r Waste of time and money. I went to have color and highlights done today. The treatment I was given by the staff was superb. I have had my hair worked on in all kinds of salons before, high-class to low, and I have to say I have never had a stylist so willing to listen to what I want and take such precise care of my hair, which is very fine and is a difficult texture to lift and color. She did a great job and she was very skilled. Also I have to mention that I have never in my life seen a team of stylists having so much fun at work on a busy day before. I left in great spirits and with great hair and those are the two most important things a salon should give you. I will definitely be coming back. more

If there was a less than unsatisfactory rating, that's what they would get. I first visited the salon to make sure I would get what I wanted. My regular wonderful stylist had some health issues & I was leaving for Cancun. Stylist said she understood. Made an appointment, had to wait over 40 minutes but that's okay as I'd want my hair done correctly........WRONG. Before she started, I reminded her of my wishes, "Oh no problem". Before she applied the dye, I asked again & she said that this was the product that I would be happy with, NOT. I now have that dreaded "skunk look". Lucky for me, my regular stylist is back to work & I have an appointment with her next week to begin the fix of the f**k up of your stylist. I am livid. I will never go back. I will tell everyone & anyone about my experience. Why can't you just tell the truth to your clients? Afraid of losing business? Well this isn't going to bring you in new & returning clients. I HATE this place. I'll start from the front and work my way back. ok, so starting with the coked out girls in the front, they are rude. They act like they work at a high class salon. I doubt any of them have an education past a GED. They couldnt give you an educated answer to any question you ask. Dummies. Then moving on to the back staff. eekkk. How can anybody trust them doing their hair when theirs looks like total crap. BAD. Then last but not least is that crypt keeper(the owner) running around. What a weirdo more

Great hair and products from Sir Gauuan's 9/30/2010

I have been getting my hair styled at Sit Gauuan's for years. I have never had a bad experience in all the years I have been styled there. Every time I get my hair done I get many compliments. I have the best stylist who knows her color. Also the peek-a-boos were perfect when I had them put in. I have never had a problem. The foul mouth comments sound like they are coming from disgruntled ex-employees. Very foul mouthed with no class. I come down from Sacramento and love the work by Brandy.\r Great job. and I will see you soon. more

One of the worst hair salons 9/30/2010

Horrible place. Receptionists are unqualified as well as the "stylists". I wanted a fringe trim a few years back (simple right) and she cut my entire bangs off! Didnt acknowledge her mistake and i was forced to pay. Ever since then i refused to get my hair touched by any of these "stylists", but there are times when I have to go in to buy hair color (only if cosmo prof is closed) and i feel so unwelcomed by the trashy unwelcoming staff. I dont understand why this place remains open. more

The ppl that work here are so f*&#*ing rude. they really have no shame at all. i got my hair done here once and was so UNsatisfied with my hair. and they call themselves stylists. lmfao. this place is hella ghetto, but then again so are the employees. more

it sucks so bad.their always rude.i had some extensions put in and the extensions started coming off the next day.200 dollars gone to waste.i went to go get my hair done for prom and it was horrible,too much hair spray. it left my hair white.they cant even make a nice hair bump.as matter of fact it was jus flat.retarded people can do better hair styles.i had to go to claudias hair salon to fix what that fat b*@$! did.and they're rough with your hair.their rude and have no shame.I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS SOON.claudias is way better.. more

i couldn't believe it when i walked into this salon. it was my first time visiting this place, i went in for some products (i wouldn't get my hair done here, because well... have u seen the stylists that work there??!!!!!) anyway, i went in for products which was a mistake... the girls that work at the register are SOOOOOOO rude. i was in there a couple weeks ago and there was this skinny and chubby girl working, they were both so very rude, they wouldn't help me find the shampoo i needed, they were too busy running their mouths to eachother. when i finally left they didn't say a word to me... no thank you, no how are you.... NOTHING. I know i will never come here again. rude ass people work here.\r im good!\r nvr goin bak!!! more

omfg, seriously, this place f-in suxx a@#!!! the girls that work at the front counter are b*tches and the stylists have crappy attitudes as well. idk, but if u ask me, all the females that work there look like sluts. and what's up with that ugly dude with the pony tail and the cheap looking suits that does nothing but walk around, looking at all the young females. Nasty ass old man!! Anyway, bottom line, sir gauuan's is a crappy a#% place, the females are slutty looking, with their make up caked on. this is an un-cool place.. and i will never go there again. Okay...so I'm from Stockton, yes, now I live in WA...I don't get to go to SG for haircuts/color or anything else but I still love their products, I have my mom buy them for me and send them to me. For that I hope they never go out of business...I'll never find my moisture therapy (the minty one) anywhere else. If their staff has gone downhill that's very sad because they've always had the best!!! more

I think its a crappy place. It has gone down hill so much. We know Tommy real well but, that does not mean his business is doing good. You get there on time and they make you wait for hours and then you find out your girl did not come in. So you wait longer and finally someone shampoos you and starts to cut your and their next appointment walks in and they almost throw you out the with the most crappy hair cut ever. I will never go back again. more

this place is down right horrible. they had me waiting for an hour...yes... ONE HOUR. the girls up front are very rude.. they didn't even ask if i had an apt, when i walked in 2 of them girls were just standing there, yapping their mouth to eachother and gave me a dirty look. lmao. after me having to wait there an hour, i got up and just left.... and as i was leaving the girl up front decides to ask me if i needed any help. LMFAO! i just ignored her and left. trust me people, don't go here... its nothing but rude, immature girls, who don't know how to book apt's. and who just care about how they look. Oh and give you dirty looks if you look better than them. more

This place is really crappy. Do not go here, ppl!!!! Everyone is really, really rude... the stylists and the girls up front ..very rude and stuck up. I'll never get my hair done here again... I had an apt., they made me wait 30 minutes and ONE WEEK later the color they put in my hair WASHED OUT!!!!!! The stylist did a crappy job, but still made me pay for the crappy ass wrk she did. Not to mention, this old, creepy skinny guy kept trying to come near me while I was there (i heard he was the owner) ...he gave me the creeps. I will never go there ever again. There's 2 salons in the Lincoln Center that are really good, and Southern Exposure on the Pacific Ave is awesome as well. more

Was ignored for 40 minutes and left. 2/22/2010

I used to use Sir Gauuan's for years in the past (and friends with Tommy Gauuan) but moved away for a few years and just moved back again. I called on a Friday to schedule an appointment, I was given a Sunday time, then I get a call from the stylist on Sunday 2 hours before my appointment to tell me that I should have been scheduled for a "consultation" and not to hold my hopes up for actually getting my hair done that day. So I agreed to go at my scheduled time and checked-in at the front desk and sat down and waited. I was 10 minutes early and I left 40 minutes later after not being approached by my stylist... not even to tell me that she was running late and she did know I was there because another stylist went and told her I was sitting there for a while waiting for her. It is unfortunate that I walked out of there angry. Too bad they lost my business for good. Now hunting for a new place with better customer service. more

Sir Gauuan's Superhair Salons is AWESOME best in town!! 1/5/2010

My entire family goes here. We would not let anyone touch our hair! They do a great job and the Manager makes sure the people are taken care. There is only one Salon now. They do quality work and have quality products. more
