We were so excited to try this restaurant. My son and wife were visiting from Texas and we planned to spend New Years Eve at Sinbad's where we could stay after dinner and watch the fireworks. We read the menu online and it all looked so promising. I should have stopped at that point and just left it to my imagination. Firstly when we booked we weren't told the menu for New Years was a ""set"" menu. Next we weren't told we had to eat our meal in 2 hours - no longer. As our reservations were for 8pm and the New Years fireworks were at midnight, we had to leave 2 hours before they began. Lastly was the food. It was terrible. It seemed everything had been pre done. The salad was dripping and soggy with vinegar. (no choice of dressing), I should have known this wouldn't be a great dining experience as the salads were served within 1 minute of us placing our order meaning they were all pre made and just sitting there to be taken out to the unsuspecting customers. The vegetables were way over cooked and were obviously not done to order. (I think they were a frozen medley from Safeway that had been microwaved) It seemed the only thing cooked to order was our meat and even that was quite tasteless. Last came dessert. My wife had the New york Style cheesecake which was still frozen in the middle so again certainly not made in house. I must add that at the beginning of the meal before we placed our order we asked to speak to the owner as we were disappointed about the set menu. He was called over and when we asked about it we were told ""The New Years Menu was posted on the web"". It certainly wasn't on the web menu we looked at when we selected this restaurant! He seemed very condescending and assured us we'd Love the food. Well we didn't and had it not been New Years Eve we'd have walked out but the odds of getting seated in another restaurant would have been zero. Then there's the decor. Its a step back in time - a Bad time. The booth we sat in ( should say sank in) was I'm certain original to when they built this place. Then there's the restrooms. The men's was filthy with dirt and paint chipping everywhere. But at least I didn't have to use the women's. My wife went in and came out quickly as someone had thrown up everywhere. No doubt someone else who eaten here. The only thing it had going for it is the Location. They'd be better off burning this place and putting in some floats for the Sea Lions. This dinner for 4 cost us over $400! They even added a 15% tip onto the bill giving us no choice about how we felt about the service (I'm sure that was thought out as I doubt many people would have left a tip at all due to the quality of the food!) I gave Sinbad's 1 Star because I couldn't give it a Zero. If I could give it a negative I would!
