NEVER GIVE YOUR PERSONAL CHECK TO THIS PLACE, NEVER,,,,\r \r This place has been defrauding unsuspecting innocent people like us for years now. Simi valley workout uses old information and copy of your check to take money from people's bank accounts. I can personally attest of their wrongdoing as one of their many victims. \r \r Do not step inside the door of this place until you read more about their criminal practice. BE VERY AFRAID TO GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR CHECK!!!!\r more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/21/2012

I wish I had read some of the reviews prior to joining Simi Valley Workout. I signed up with the intention of having a personal trainer; however the trainer (who also happens to be the manager) always had an excuse as to why he couldn't be there (grandmother was sick, best friend was in a car accident, personal emergency). The final straw was when I was scheduled for an hour session, and the trainer had me on the treadmill for a 10 minute warm up, and then he asked me to do 10 minutes on the elliptical. During this time he disappeared leaving me to finish working out on my own. I inquired with other personnel and he was nowhere to be found in the gym. After I got home (70 minutes after the start time of my session), I received a phone call from him inquiring as to why I left. He then informed me he had to leave the gym for personal reasons (diarrhea?TMI) and he begged that I give him another opportunity. Now keep in mind, this was the 3rd time during my first 2 weeks where he was not able to train me during a scheduled session. I informed him that I was going to find another trainer who took his job seriously, I wanted a refund for the money I had previously paid for the sessions and I wanted to cancel my membership. He stated I would need to speak to the owner for a refund and cancellation. After many attempts over a period of 3 weeks at trying to contact the owner, I was finally successful at getting a refund and I was led to believe my membership would also be cancelled. To my surprise my membership had not been cancelled and they continue to bill me each month through a deduction in my checking account. I have gone to the gym during the time I had been informed that the owner would be there and each time he is not at the gym. I have been informed by personnel all about the owner?s medical issues and that he only comes in a few hours per day and nobody else but the owner can cancel a membership. I have left multiple messages with other personnel to have the owner contact me but I have yet to get a return call. So here I am many months later disputing the reoccurring charges with my bank in hopes that they can cancel any future payments. I think it is time to stop playing nice and contact the Better Business Bureau and file a claim in small claims court. more

ripped off 7/13/2011

Simi Valley Work Out has ripped me off for a year after cancelling my membership. The manager says he cancells your membership then doesn't. 3 months later and another 75 dollars later, he cant refund the money but offers you credit. With a promise to never bill again. Poof another 75 dollars gone. Then go in again. Oh yeah, now hes mean to you, tells you he cant access anything on the computer. Come back again later. They have no paper work to cancel membership. Email to manager is official he says. No response. Another 75 dollars gone. Day off pissed again. The manager claims he doesn't know what to do so he gives me the owners name and number, who is of course out of the office or on vacation everytime. So I cancel by email,(he told me it would officially stop the billing and cancel my membership which I did and saved on file) and guess what POOF another 75 dollars AGAIN!!!! It has been a charade. It has been going on for a year. They took 75 dollars from my account again, this time on a cancelled debit card with someone from their gym authorizing a disputed withdrawl. How they got away with it is beyond me. I now have to have the manager of my bank print out paperwork to find out who authorized the dispute from the gym and cancel my bank account just to get them to stop stealing money from my account. They have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau of Santa Barbara. Many complaints with them online (yelp, Yahoo, Google, City Search) taking money on cancelled accounts and not refunding money. They have a file with the police department from being called to their establishment by the manager, which I have been told by an officer to go down to the police department and ask for a printout of. A police officer of Simi Valley told me this happens all of the time with their establishment. Especially women. Shame on you, Simi Valley Workout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

DON'T JOIN THIS GYM! 5/17/2011

This is the WORST gym I have ever encountered in my life. They have the WORST customer service and are known for being rude and unavailable. IF you read this and still join be prepared to fight for the reoccurring monthly fees you will have deducted from your banking account even though you have canceled your account. The have an F BBB rating under the Santa Barbara BBB. Wow, was that a surprise? more
