Silverton Skin Institute

Would not return to this office if it was the last dermatologist in my area. First the front desk ladies were very stuck up. Then the Physicians Assistant was cocky and basically blamed me for my doc not getting a culture earlier in the week before putting my on antibiotics. Then the male nurse that came in to get culture was also cocky and seemed irritated when I asked for a bandaid (had to remove it for doc to see my issue)... Overall horrible bedside manner. The only person who was nice and professional was Aaron a male at the check out station. more

I came in to have skin tags removed. I did not catch the name of the Dr. that I saw or the attending nurse.\r \r I was very disappointed in the care I received and felt they were very unprofessional. First of all, the Dr. I saw did not make it clear to me that they would not be able to remove all the skin tags. He left the room telling me he would get a nurse to remove them. I assumed this meant they would be able to freeze them off. A woman came in the room in street clothes. I did not see a badge although she may have had one under her fleece jacket or maybe I just missed it. It really put me off, not knowing who she even was. She should at least wear scrubs. I guess I was supposed to take her word for it that she even was a nurse. I also was not made aware by the Dr. that they would be cutting them off the skin tags with a knife. Most of them were very flat and could not be cut. The nurse got out the knife and I asked her how they were going to cut them off when the tags under my breasts since were almost flat to the surface. She looked bewildered and wasn’t sure how to do this either. She called the Dr. back in to ask him and he just said cut off what you can. How professional! This was not what I came in for. I wanted all of them frozen off. He said if they start irritating you, just make an apt again and we can freeze them. The reason I came in was because they were irritating me since I had a bad rash that I showed him when he examined me. He seemed to want to rush me out and didn’t really care if I was informed etc….\r \r Lastly, I was very disappointed in the way the nurse cut the tags off. She told me to feel around for them. She did not assist me in finding them at all. She just stood there and watched me. No help whatsoever. I was not offered a mirror and she didn’t seem to care in the least. She seemed like she just wanted to be done with it. As a result I still have several left on my neck that I missed. The ones under my breasts are still raw and irritated. \r \r I will be looking for another office to do the freezing since I got minimal, apathetic care at this office. \r \r more

Not sure who smart girl is talking about. But I have been a patient of Dr. Silverton's office for years. Comparing the wait time to anyone in Genesee county he is by far the most prompt doctor in the area. If he is running late the front staff tell you and ask if you want to reschedule but he has only ran late when there was an emergency or I went there on his surgery day. As for his office manager she is the sweetest, most compassionate person I have ever met. I do not have prescription coverage and she went out of her way to get me the medication I needed and has been so helpful with my medicare part D. She has never beem anything but professional and kind to me. I would recommend this office over any other office in Genesee County. If you prefer to see Dr. Silverton all you have to do is ask and they book me with him or send him into the room. Office is always clean and well maintained. The office manager is a complete bitch! My son was a patient there for several years we had to find a new doctor because we were treated like crap! I had a situation where I needed to talk to the doctor, she made it her mission to block me from even having a conversation with him! She was so determined to control & try to exercise her menial power that she had blatant disregard for my son's well being. (this was all over a refill on an antibiotic) When one of the office girls invited me to come in the back the office manager freaked out on the girl & she actually called the police on me! she told them I was asked to leave & was trespassing! this was so ridiculous I still can't believe it! I would not recommend this practice.The staff at any business where I am spending money (A LOT of it!) or a little of it, should help make my experience easy & pleasant- not make it their mission to make things difficult. My visit today to silverton skin institute was great! The STAFF WAS AUSOME, OFFICE WAS VERY CLEAN. Not sure where the other person was at but my experience was a good one. My appointment was 940 and I was walking out at 10am. Dr. Silverton came in my room looked at the area of concern told me I needed a biopsy, his girl came in numbed me, and she was ausome at this, didn't feel a thing, 5 minutes later dr came and and did biopsy and I was out the door. I'm new to the area and I wanted to have some of my moles checked so I researched Doctors in the area. Dr. Silvertons site came up and it looked good. I made my appt. I got to the office expecting it to be top notch... uh no. The waiting area was dirty, there were like 8 loud kids running around, it was really crowded, people were talking really loud.. I didn't feel like I was at the Doctors... I felt like I was at Social Serives or something... no offence. That was just the feel. So, I get called in and wait for the Doctor Silverton or the assistment to come in and tell me to get into a gown so they could check my skin.. in walks another Doctor..not the Doctor I came to see. I was kinda confused. On the website they don't say there are any other doctors but him. The doctor didn't check my whole body to see if my skin was ok in places I couldn't see... he just looked at one mole and said I was good and sent me on my way. Personaly, I won't go there again. It was dirty and I didn't feel they didn't check me in the way they should of. Pros: Dirty waiting area, too many people, too loud, too long of wait, not the doc I thought I was going to see Cons: Uh, they have candy in a jar when you leave and that's about it more
