My name is SFC Michael Hicks. I am from Ft. Snelling MN. I am not a tenant at Signal View but my son is and has been since August 2017. He's been a model tenant and managed to meet rent requirements on time. He recently had to move from one condo to another. The staff were very instrumental in relocating him into a different condo. Prior to the move the staff had been very professional with him. He began to have issues with staff after requesting his deposit for cleaning the condo after the move. The carpet was shampooed but has two years of wear. He was told most of the appliances were not cleaned and did not meet Signal View Standards, which appears to be routine when tenants requesting deposits. After being informed the appliances were not clean and did not meet their standards the staff was showed photos that indicated otherwise. Unlike other tenants who experience the same problem, my son posted some very, very strong reviews. His comments upset the staff and they have since considered returning his deposit and informed him their attorney would be contacting him in the future. Probably concerning the very strong comments posted. I spent 32 years in the U.S. Army and have pretty much traveled the globe. My son is a Military Brat and knows the importance of cleaning and maintaining houses, apartments condos whether they are Government Homes or Civilian. I am still unclear what the standards are for cleaning. He is not overly concerned about receiving his deposit, it's just the principle and attitude of staff there. I was a little personally annoyed when I sat in and witnessed a conversation between a Senior Staff official and my son concerning these issues, but never thought we would experience some of the staff attitudes.
My advice to current and future tenants is make sure you are aware of their maintenance and move out polices before leasing.
