Best

We visit our student daughter for Thanksgiving and this is a great place for dinner. Excellent quality and not over priced like so many places on Thanksgiving.

Worst

My brother wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday, and I picked Sidney's grill because it's near our house and it is rated as having the ""best salad"" on citysearch site...

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/27/2013

Maybe this place was good a year ago, but the place is terrible now. I recently went there and ordered their burger, medium well. It was the last thing that was brought out for a table of 8 people, along with a burger that was order medium rare. He bit into his burger and found it to be rare. I bit into mine and it looked more purple then raw tuna. I actually spit it out onto my plate. When I showed the waitstaff what I just ate, they quickly took it from me and ran away. They then came back to ask if I wanted to order something else. I told them that I really would like to have a properly cooked burger. By this point, the entire party had already finished. When I did get my burger, before even picking it up, I could smell that it has been over cooked and there was char all over it. The waiter asked if everything was okay and again I opened the burger to show the burnt meat.\r \r Cooks (and I am intentionally refusing to use the term chef here) should be forced to eat the food that is cooked improperly. They won't make that mistake again. Disgusting. more

An oasis of affordable elegance in the midst of Central Square. 1/20/2009

Sidney's Grille is an oasis of affordable elegance in the midst of Central Square. Located at MIT?s University Park in the upscale Le Meridien hotel, the restaurant features innovative new American cuisine. With its ultra-modern decor, high ceilings and beautiful bar with marble counter tops, Sidney's immediately makes diners feel pampered. And then there?s the delightful and well-presented dishes. Appetizers like the three-cod New England clam chowder and the seared sea scallops with lemon thyme sparkle. Favorite main courses include the mouth watering striped sea bass with sweet corn and leek ragout; the sesame crusted ahi tuna with gingered sweet potato; and Sidney?s strip steak with roasted garlic. A little off the beaten path, Sidney's Grille is truly a hidden gem that is one of the best kept secrets in Cambridge. more

MUST VISIT RESTAURANT. 3/24/2008

The restaurant definitely has its own charm in the town.We visited yesterday for easter and it was one of the most pleasant experiences we had. The server was attentive and made sure my table always stayed upto date. The Brunch was just superb, both the food and its presentation. Then finally while leaving the manager helped us locate a cab & also printed me directions to the neighbouring malls. The restaurant was well lit up and lively with some fun music. I feel its defintely worth making your way to Cambridge. We had a wonderful time !!! more

Food was just ok 12/27/2007

My brother wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday, and I picked Sidney's grill because it's near our house and it is rated as having the ""best salad"" on citysearch site. The dining room was very nice. On this thursday night, however, at 8:30 we were the only guest in the huge dining room. I am not sure if it is because they are not attracting many people or it is because this was the Christmas weekend. Pros: Ambience Cons: Food more

Great appetizers!!! 6/23/2007

Sidney's was recomended to me by a friend of mine. My husband and I had dinner on a Saturday night and were pleased to discover that the restaurant wasn't overcrowded or too loud. The room is stunning and modern - very high ceilings. The coctail list and wine list were interesting and had a good variety. We had the scallop and avocado appetizer which was AMAZING! The seabass and the ribeye were also excellent. We didn't have room for dessert - will have to come back again. Our server Wagner was extremely professional and gracious and didn't miss a thing. The meal was moderately priced and still a bargain. I highly recomend it!!! more

Great Service & Comfortable Atmosphere 2/26/2007

Good menu selection, reasonable priced meals. The bar area is very nice, without being too stuffy - certrainly one of the better restaurant bars around town. Everyone there is friendly and accomodating. It's a bit tough to find, but worth the effort. Pros: Good menu, nice bar Cons: A bit off the beaten path more

Clam Chowder to Die For! 2/24/2007

On a vacation trip to Boston, our party of 5 arrived on Friday night at 7:30 PM in February. The restaurant was not crowded, so it was disappointing that service was not faster. However, the food was very good, a little pricey, we spent on average $40.00 per person with before tip with no alcohol. The Sirloin was very good, as were the scallops (but only 4). The Salmon was very flavorful and the potion was a nice size. I was informed that the credit card processing machine is ""ancient"" and the cause for it taking 15 minutes to run our credit cards, so unfortunately we missed our cab. Surprising that the computers associated with this MIT hotel restaurant are not up to date. So, the food is good, but service when we went was not timely. Suggestion: Make sure you get the chowder. more

Delicious Dinner in Cambridge 1/28/2007

I had been to Sidney's for a business lunch and was interested in returning for a more relaxed dinner. We were pleasantly surprised. Had a cocktail at the bar and then were seated. My husband had a delicious steak and I had salmon. Attentive service.Another highlight was the chocolate dessert -- creative presentation. Pros: Location, Parking, Food, Service, Value more

Horrible, do not go here!!! 10/19/2006

My dining experience at Sidney's Grille was amongst the worst that I have had. My girlfriend and I had decided to try dining there before a movie at Kendall Square. Upon arriving, there was nobody at the hostess stand, and we waited several minutes before anyone showed up to take us to a table. Cons: Extremely slow and bad service more

Amazing hidden gem 8/5/2006

I just held a bridal shower in their semi-private room. It was amazing, although the coordinator of the event left something to be desired. There is plenty of street parking, as well as valet for only $7. Price for food is reasonable, the room in the back is perfect for about 30 guests if you're going to be having presents. If you need a cake, the chef there is AMAZING!! It sounds a bit costly, but it is unbelievable, there was sugar sculpture, it was beautiful. Really let them do whatever they want, we gave a theme of red and couldn't have imagined something this amazing. Pros: great food, reasonable price, great for parties Cons: no one knows it is there more

PowerLunch and PowerBrkfst packs a punch! 5/31/2005

Obviously a comfort zone for groups of co-workers... you can feel the vibe of deals going down during these meals. Service was respectful and prompt... food great! Not firsthand knowledge, but when martinis are being served at lunch, you know you're in a hot spot! Pros: ambience, food quality, location more

A++ Dinner at Sidney's 8/24/2004

We had heard that there was a new chef - Stephano Zimei at Sidney's Grille so we decided to check it out for dinner. We were i the mood for seafood although the steak was tempting. The clam chowder was fantastic, as were our salmon and lobster entrees. We left a little room for dessert and split the banana split. Decadent -- and with homemade icecream. After dinner we stopped to have a drink in the bar which was lively. The Tech-Tini was delicious -- and appropriatly named for the neighborhood. We can't wait to try out Brunch. Pros: Parking, Atmosphere, Food more

A Hidden Gem in Cambridge! 1/25/2003

Sidney's Chef Lambrechts has trained all over the world, and this is clearly evidenced by the subtle international flavors in even his most classic of American Cuisines. The entire menu at Sidney's is reasonably priced, the wine selection is ample, and the ambience is excellent. The only downside is that fewer people know about this wonderful restaurant. Located in the Hotel@MIT in Central Square, Cambridge. Pros: reasonably priced, eclectic menu, easy hotel parking $7 Cons: should be well-known more
