Good ingredients, poorly cooked, worst service 10/7/2011

Mixed review on this place. I'm a huge NY pizza fan. Siciliano's has very thin crust, home made sauce... pizza with potential. The problem is inspiration and attitude. I eat there the other day to try their pie again. The ingrediants were great, but the pizza was scorched burnt. By this, I mean the cheese was so brown/black that it was actually crispy (cheese crispier than the crust! lol). The ironic part is, I specificall requested ""lightly cooked"" in fear of this happening. I complained and the waiter waid he can re-do it, but it would be at the back of the queue and take abotu 25 minutes since it was busy (lunch time). Then offered to discount the current burnt pizza instead, which for the sake of time, I accepted. At the end of the meal, the owner visited our tale. I thought that was a nice jesture. She asked how the food was, and I mentioned the pizza. She said next time, ask them to remake it. I explained that the waiter said it would have taken 25 minutes, and she replied, no, only 10 minutes because they would put it at the front of the queue. A little later, I got the check. No discount on the pizza. I asked the waiter, and he said the manager said no on the discount. THis whole experience, fromt he missinformed waiter that could not execute on what he promised, nor knew the re-cook process, to the bad management, to the cook who ignored my ""lightly cooked"" request and totally scorched the pizza... I was with 2 business people, and didn't want to make more of a scene than I already did, so did not pursue it. As I was walking out, the waiter got me and appologized for everything, and gave me a slice of cheese cake to go, and said his management didn't know he did that and he would probablky get in trouble, but he felt bad so wanted to do something. The bottom line is I've never seen such cheap, non-focused on customer service, management at any restaurant I can recall. Sometimes, a busy place can mess up food (like burn pizza), but to be that unwilling to make it right or honor what the waiter offered? Really pisses me off in principle... Not sure I want to go back to see if the burnt pizza was a one time mistake, or a regular thing...\r more

amazing italian close to home in a great atmosphere. 10/8/2008

My boyfriend brought me here a while ago after I had recently moved to the Garland area, knowing I absolutely adore authentic italian and was missing the amazing little italian restaurants back home on the east coast. I fell in love the first time and have been back several times since and brought visiting family here as well, and they've all loved it! We took his mom here as well with a large group for her birthday, and they were extremely attentive and accommodating - just as attentive as when its just me and him! Drinks are always full, rolls are always plentiful, and there is never a long wait for a table even on busy weekend nights. The building is beautiful, both the inside and the patio. The entire place has a great ambience. \r \r The food is amazingggggggg! The garlic rolls are incredible.. the fact that they are complimentary with your meal and neverending [even in your doggie bag!] is just icing on the cake. Its very hard to remember to save room for your meal with a plate of these on the table! Everything I've ever ordered here has been great, and the portions are always huge. I always have something to take home! The pasta is delicious and obviously made fresh, not dried. I especially love the alfredo sauce - its the perfect blend of creamy and cheesy, with lots of fresh parm reggiano. I've never had anything bad here and i've always had lots to take home for leftovers! Pros: Great atmosphere, great food, huge portions, amazing service and low prices. more

Siciliano's - A Taste of Italy: Moderately priced.... 10/7/2008

Moderately priced for choice Italian cuisine. I first met the owners 25+ years ago when they opened their first restaurant in Garland. We have eaten there on special occasions ever since. On our way there tonight for a 50th anniversary diner. jwpw more

Best Italian Food At A Good Price In Town !!! 10/6/2008

This is one of our favorite places to go. We frequently double date w/ close friends. We have been on the weekends (Both Friday and Saturday) and have always been seated promptly and received wonderful service. When they bag up you left over?s for you they always throw in extra garlic bread on request (which is anything but healthy, but well worth the taste.) All these bad remarks must be from people who are hard to please or an employee that just did not measure up to their service. This restaurant is family owned and ran plus has a homey feel when you walk in the door. There is never a complaint from my husband (who is a picky Italian food eater). more

save yourself the money 7/19/2008

I do not recommend this place to anyone in the area for several reasons the food is bland no flavor..I have been sick from eatting the stromboli there I was sick for about 2 days the service there is poor they treat their customers very poorly...I noticed this happen at one point in time that they have accused a regular customer for not paying after she had already paid for her meals.... Cons: lousy service, poor food more

Avoid Always 7/19/2008

This Establishment treats employees very poorly and may reflect into the service you receive from you waiter or waitress. The food is 'OK' at best but their lack of a sense of urgency and true interest in taking care of the customer leads me to provide this very poor review. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone for any reason. Pros: Parking is very easy and always simple. Cons: Service is Very poor more

Not good at all, and expensive... 5/14/2008

No one in our party of four could finish their meal, and it wasn't from lack of hunger. The food was greasy and bland. The rolls were nice, but from that point the meal went down hill. The prices were way too high for what you get. and we noticed the kid meals were very pricey as well.\r \r We would suggest that you try somewhere else for Italian food in Garland. Don't waste your money here. more

Great Place for a Private Party 4/5/2008

We had a party at Sciliano?s last month. The food and wine were excellent. The separate dinning room was the perfect environment for the gathering we wanted. The waiter listened and understood our plan. He did a great job.\r \r The food, service, atmosphere and price is great for lunch or dinner for two as well. Pros: Selection, Quality, Service, Generous servings. Cons: 9 pm is a very early closing time for a Mediterranean restaurant, No room for dessert. more

Worst experience ever 3/11/2008

The building was nice and the garlic knots were good and that was about it. We ordered the combination plate to share and it looked like they just slopped everything on and covered it with cheese - presentaion and taste were the worst I have EVER had and to think I paid for this meal - also ordered a pasta with chicken and shrimp - tasteless sauce, overcooked chicken and mushy pasta - took it home for the dogs - they turned up their noses as well. \r Needless to say I will not go back nor reccomend to anyone - too bad as I was looking forward to finding a nice neighborhood restaraunt.\r Pros: Building nice, ample parking Cons: food - taste and presentation more

changed recipes 7/30/2007

they seem to have changed their sauce recipe and also their house dressing recipe.shouldnt have messed with a good thing.not as good as it once was. Pros: n/a Cons: n/a more

Never met anyone who didn't love it! 6/25/2007

This has been my favorite place to eat since I was a teenager. I have been going here since they had a location in Plano and never stopped. Their garlic rolls are heaven, their house dressing is divine, and every entree they serve brings tears of joy to my eyes. The service is great - the people are down to earth and happy to cater to your every desire. The atmosphere is beautiful for the price; you will feel as though you are fine dining and treated as such. Pros: Endless garlic rolls that melt in your mouth. Cons: Location - far from anywhere special. more

Love the Lasagna, great place to take the Wife. 11/6/2006

I have patronized Taste of Italy since it was on Walnut & Shiloh Road in 1980s.\r The moved to the new location and it is beautiful. Fran and Paulo have great people working there and they are friendly, like family. The rolls are excellent and you never run out of them. If you would like a glass of wine that is also available. Dont miss this restaurant. Pros: Large parking Lot, Lots of room, seldom have to wait long. Cons: I can't say anything negative about this restaurant. more

Center of Attention 10/22/2005

We went to Siciliano's on a friend's recommendation. We are elated we did. Our server treated us like we are the only ones she was working with, though the crowds began. The food was excellent, the rolls were everything we heard about. I am glad i wasnt able to finish what I ordered, made fantastic left overs. I would give a 10++ and A ++ and beyond. Pros: customer service, atmosphere, quality of food Cons: n/a more

Authentico! 6/4/2005

Good to have fine Italian locally without having to fight crowded commercial areas. Food great, original location was so popular (and small) that this successful business threw the dice and built a very nice and large place that is working out very nicely. (The rolls are my wife's joy with each visit!) Pros: Atmosphere, Quality Food, Great Bread Cons: Not near Hwy. more

Magnifico! 9/22/2004

Siciliano's is wonderful! The food is tantalizing to the tastebuds! The service is wonderful, friendly atmospher... you feel almost like family! Pros: good parking, wonderful food, average prices more
