Shipley Do-Nuts

I love Simply Splendid! the donuts are excellent. They are not too sweet like Krispe Kremes, in fact I think those are deadly. Simply donuts have a different kind of chew to them. Dunkin is kind of dry to me. I do love Shipley's donuts. they have a nice flaky kind of sweetness to them, and great when they're fresh and hot. Being a native Texan, Shipley's will always be one of my favorites, but i think Simply is rising to the top of my list. Simply donuts do not melt in your mouth like Shipley's does. They have a different consistency. It has the perfect cheweyness. And whether fresh and hot or maybe half a day old, it still has that same great chew like fresh bread or a good chewey cookie. If you're looking for a donut that doesn't have a lot of air in it like Shipley's, go to Simply Splendid. more

Very good food. Treat international students well. Very global company. Great food. Good service. The resturant is positioned as a good quality, fast ordering time, and exelant customers service. I would recomend it to anyone no matter what you like to eat because they have all food, not just donuts. more

Simply Splendid Donuts and Ice Cream is truly the premier donut shop in Houston and will soon be throughout Texas! I can honestly say that I have never been to a donut shop that made me feel as if I were in Paris eating the best kolache and forgetting about all the stuff I have going on. When I walked in the smell of fresh baked bread greeted me at the door, then I further awed at the decor, style and layout, the overall feeling that you get while there is one of ?home sweet home.? As I sat there speaking to the owner, Danny Klam, I observed that he has a genuine relationship with his customers, almost as if he has known them his entire life. He and his family have created delicious donuts, kolaches, lunch items and many more great tasting items, they also have a positive rapport with their customers, but more importantly they recognize the needs of the community and provide non-profit organizations with their scrumptious products and monetary donations. This company deserves an award and a around of applause! I am really proud of you Danny Klam and of everything you have achieved, keep up the awesome job and that UH COUGAR Spirit?GO COOGS!!! Great variety of donuts to choose from along with great jalapeno kolaches! The breading on the kolaches is wonderfully soft and moist. We went there for breakfast because it is so close to the YMCA and real easy to get to. Service was great as well. The interior is very fun and trendy. We look forward to going back to try their lunch menu. Pros: Great food, nice place Cons: only one location more

This place is a one of a kind donut shop. It features free WIFI as well as computers to use for entertainment. There are also board games and plenty of comfortable areas to sit. The menu is pretty wide, accommodating for breakfast and lunch. The donuts are good, the kolaches are very tasty and the ice cream and shakes are delicious. The atmosphere is the best, with great customer service, that care and do a good job. The prices are reasonable and well worth it. Overall its a great place to take your family or hang out in the morning for a cup of coffee. Pros: Customer Service, Variety. Cons: Not open Sundays. :) more

Often; Simply Splendid Donuts & Ice Cream is catered for our advisors, and students at various events throughout the college. Simply's donuts are always wonderfully fresh, warm and delicious! Although, I have never stepped foot in the building I can honestly and openly say that the service is great as well! The donuts are never late, never cold nor are they nasty. Simply slpendid sells delicious fresh donuts everyday at very low prices. Whenever I go, the customer service is excellent and there is always enough seating, even if I'm in a group. For lunch, I always get the crossaint sandwiches with ham and cheese. The warm crossaint with the ham and cheese is literaly "simply splendid." The customers in there always range from families, to students studying and using the free apple computers on the wall. The decor is fresh and modern and very comfortable. I run a mid-sized office and the service and convenience of Simply Splendid is amazing. Every time I need a reliable but simple breakfast I can call. Every time I need a rush service I can call. These people bend over backwards to ensure that you're taken care of. Plus the food is great quality with an incredible selection as well. The price is pretty average, but speak with the owner if you're trying to setup a contract or huge order, he accommodated us on orders of 20 dozen before! Great Kolaches and donuts. I've been there as the donuts come from the kitchen and they simply MELT in your mouth! Don't let the name fool you. In addition to the donuts and ice cream there is a good variety of savory kolaches to go great coffee and the lunch specials provide a tasty meal for a good price. The staff and the owners are charming people and want the customer experience to be the best. I truly believe that if the late Marvin Zindler were to visit this establishment he would have given it one of his prized Blue Ribbon awards because it is sparkling clean. I live near downtown and when I heard about the place I drove out to the West side...it's worth the trip and I will continue to go as often as I can on the weekends. So go, try it...you'll like it. My kids and I love to stop in Simply Delicious for a donut treat or hand-dipped ice cream shake. Recently we enjoyed a great, quick cheap lunch and the four of us dined for $15! They offer mexican and chinese dishes for lunch. Also breakfast croissants and my fav iced cappuccino. Starbucks has nothing on this local little neighborhood restaurant. They also have board games and built in computers for anyone's use! The service is always friendly and fast and the value we get for the money is unbeatable. They can get busy right at lunch time so go early or call in to go. We're so glad to have them in the neighborhood! Pros: Quality food and treats for very little money! Better than Starbucks! I bought a kolache once and had me hooked!! The sausage, cheese and jalapeno kolaches are sooooo good! Way better than ALL the donut places I've ever been to. I love this place!!! more
