Did the job right 3/31/2010

It's pretty terrifying - one moment, you're calmly doing your work, saving your documents, and everything is fine. THe next moment, the hard drive suddenly claims it's empty. What in the world!? It's like a kick in the stomach.\r \r After this happened, I ran to Office Max, which is where I bought the hard drive, but of course they couldn't help. They don't touch data loss, it's not their responsibility to handle. Next tried tech support, but it's the same thing. Contacted the manufacturer, still no cookie. I was pretty much out of options, so I started looking at data recovery companies, which I never really trusted. Rather reluctantly, I turned to Data Recovery Services-LA.\r \r But my experience turned out to be ok, after all. In fact, a few days after dropping off the hard drive at their office, I got a call that the recovery operation was complete. I found out they managed to recover all of the data onto a new, identical drive - and it's like nothing ever happened, except of course that my wallet was a bit lighter.\r \r I was rather impressed and very greatful, and I would recommend Data Recovery Services-LA to others if they need it.\r Pros: Quick service, superior notification system more

Saved my data in a timely fashion. 3/3/2010

Recently had a hard drive that contracted a malware virus. After a few attempts to fix the problem myself I started to look for professional help. Looked up Hard Drive Data Recovery LA on the internet and decided to give them a shot. They took my drive in and explained my recovery options. This company will let you know your options before you decide wether to proceed with the repair process. The sales rep helped me select the appropriate package and I gave them the green light to get the recovery done. I received updates on almost hourly bases and 2 days later I received an e-mail stating that my drive was finished. The virus was gone and all of my files affected by it were successfully recovered/repaired. This is a very proffesional service and that is why i am giving Har Drive Data Recovery LA five stars. I recently had my drive crash with a lot of memorable pictures i have saved up over the years. I called Hard Drive Data Recovery LA and spoke with a very helpful sales representative and had my drive sent in. i received updates daily with a complete oversight of my case in each e-mail. An honest business! 2/11/2010

I recently purchased an iPhone and transfered my music onto it from my music library. For some reason I deleted the music files from my hard drive and then a few days later my Iphone died. I located Data Recovery LA and talked to their very professional reps who advised me that it would be cheaper for me to get the files recovered on my iPhone rather than my hard drive. Talk about honesty, instead of trying to upsell me. I dropped the phone off at their location and received an e-mail update by the end of the same business day stating that my phone was alreqady in the process of being fixed. 2 days later i picked my phone up and all of my music was back! I would refer these guys to anyone! more

Great Service! 2/9/2010

My Apple computer crashed with a lot of pictures and music on it. I took it to the shop to diagnose and it turned out to be my hard drive. I found these guys on the internet and gave them a call. Great service and attitude right from the get go. I only needed family pictures and my music back and they were able to pull that for me no problem and at a great turnaround time. more

The best in town! 2/9/2010

My hard drive went dead with a lot of info that I was using for my work. Had to get it recovered quickly. Found CDS online, got a very reasonable price quote,and was promised it would take about 5 business days to get my hard drive back to me. I found that to be very appealing and went with them. The media was delivered to me in 5 days exact and all of the specified files and folders were retreived. Would recommend to anyone! Pros: Great turnaround time,reasonable price more

Data Recovery Company worth doing business with? 2/4/2010

I took my computer to California Data Services when my system got trashed last week. I tried to unzip an archive that turned out to be a Zip Bomb (look it up). It disabled Symantec and made my system unbootable, and all my data was gone. California Data Services was able to recover some of the data that hadn't been overwritten, which I appreciate very much. But they also gave me plenty of support afterward in getting everything back in order and securing my computer, which is why I'm leaving a review here. Normally, I wouldn't bother, but they sort of left an impression on me, and this is my way of saying "thanks". Choose California Data Services, they are truely a great company.? more

I am now delighted to write and commend you for the truly excellent and speedy service you provided in assisting me to recover all the data on my external hard disk drive, which had suddenly died on me. Not only is your data recovery service second to none, so is your customer service, which I really did appreciate at such a worrying time. World class service and support! 1/14/2010

I had a hard drive go bad and decided on California Data Services to try recover it. After a week of working with them, I can attest that their service was pretty good overall. They have my official stamp of approval, a very high honor.\r \r The end result is they recovered all of my data and had it stored on an identical, but working, drive. They did it in the course of a week. I had a pretty complicated problem, since my drive physically broke down, it's not like it was some software glitch. There was some part inside that literally broke off. I was actually a bit surprised that it was possible to fix at all. more

These guys provide 5 star service 9/11/2009

I was trying to clear up some space on my computer and deleted a bunch of files I had floating around that were taking up a bunch of space. I wasn't sure what they were for. But it turns out they were kind of important! Apparently they were required for my wife's accounting software to run. It was a big deal for us - we needed to restore those files ASAP.\r \r I know that deleting a file doesn't necessarily destroy the actual data, so I didn't lose hope yet. I tried some things first - there are programs out there that promise to restore deleted files. But nothing worked. So we decided to let California Data Services have a try. We explained the problem, and they got to work.\r \r They were able to fix the problem quite easily, it seems. They called the next day to say they found the deleted files and had them restored. The software started working as if nothing happened!\r more

Helped me out in critical situation! 9/4/2009

We had a power outage occur in the middle of a large transfer operation that resulted in a large loss of data. The data was not intact in neither the source nor the destination, both were corrupt. This would have been a disaster if the data were not recovered. However, we called California Data Services who helped us get the data back. We had somewhat of a special case since the transfer operation literally happened mid file. Thankfully however, the guys at California Data Services knew their stuff and helped us reattach the split archive and we now have it back! We recomend California Data Services, thank you! more

Outstanding service! 8/31/2009

We recently had an earthquake induced power outage that ended up corrupting all the data on our server. It was critical that we get it back because we recently updated the content and a lot of the code, all in all 2 weeks of work lost, and the server was down, too, so users could not access our site. What a complete disaster! We contacted California Data Services right away, told them it was an emergency, and they drove to us to pick up the server. 7 hours later, our precious work was recovered, the server was up and running, and it was business as usual again! If you've got a heart condition, don't look at the bill. 8/12/2009

The California Data Recovery Service's website says that expedited service costs $799. I had a $120 Western Digital 500GB external hard drive fail on me and I had to find someone to recover the data immediately, so I agreed to the $799 express service fee. Two days later, I am into California Data Recovery for nearly $6,000. The quotes for the recovery kept escalating until I got the final invoice, which was for more than $4,000. Unless you've got the combination to the vault in Fort Knox on your hard drive, I would recommend going somewhere else to get your data recovered. Personally, I wonder how many of the reviews on this and other websites were written by the people at CDRS. The same reviews are repeated everywhere and NONE of them mention cost at all. The bottom line is that I was totally unprepared for the final cost of this data recovery because I was never told it would be even close to this amount. In fact, I thought the original $799 fee covered everything but the new hard drive. Pros: Service was as promised and all data was recovered. Cons: Absolutely shocking price! more
