Sea Horse Ranch 10/14/2009

I have been to this ranch many times, and I can assure you that all the horses are young enough to be worked, they get the proper care and are groomed regularly; they may not look like show ponies, but that doesnt mean that they arent healthy. Some of the horses have swayed backs, and most are shod. I have been riding for more then 10 years, and I know that these horses are cared for and healthy. Yes, there might be the occasional nip on the trail, but they are horses, and it happens. In all the times I've ridden there noone has ever fallen off, and all of the guides are helpful and kind. There are different horses for the experienced riders than the green ones. If you want to have a beautifal ride on the trails and beach, this is the place to go. more

Scenic Horseback Riding 6/10/2009

My friends and I had an awesome time at Sea Horse Ranch. I made reservations for the early bird special for $45/person for a 2 hour trail/beach ride.\r \r We were given two guides: one in front and one in back... both guides spoke English perfectly, and the view was beautiful.\r \r A photographer also takes photos on the beach to capture the experience (since there are no cameras allowed while on horseback.) We opted for the CD for $40.\r \r Some of the horses were a bit unkempt - but they all did their job, and for $45, I can't complain. more

i didnt like this place at all 8/12/2007

i dont know who wrote that other review but obviously they are blind!\r ivebeen around horses all my life and i have never seen anyone take so lil care for animals i have only been to sea horse ranch once and imediately i got back in the car and turned around, the horses were mmostly to old to be working on trail rides and to tired i wonder how long ago they got the day off.And there feet were all to long!when was the last time they got shoes and there backs were mostly sway back.I wouldnt be surprised if every single one had saddle sores.\r and my freind who went on a trail ride there said that almost everyone she knows that have been there say that somthing happened that was unexpected and every time they would say you should expect it on horses.not all horses hate trail rides.they do a big favor for us lugging us around on their back all day the least we could do is take care of them.\r if youve ridde many times like this person said that she had she would know this i dont kno how old more

BAD BAD EXPERIENCE! 12/18/2006

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR ME! I made it clear starting out that I was a first time rider. I was told to pull left to go left, pull right to go right, pull back to stop. Great instructions! About 100 yards out or so horse became unruly, jerking around, jumped a little, stopped. The guide finally had to put a rope on him to get him to go because the horse would not respond to him either. Then the guides' horse started acting up. My son finally said let's just go back. We ended up paying $120 for about a 10 minute ride. We just got in the car and left which upset my son about the money we had paid. I explained to him we had signed the papers releasing them from all damages and giving up our money once we mounted so I had no grounds to ask for our money back. This was a real disappointment for me because I took my son to CA for a graduation gift and hoped he would be able to ride horses on the beach. Definitely an experience I won't forget, a very frightening one. I don't know if this is normal behavior for their horses. Maybe if the guide we paid extra for paid a little more attention rather than talking on his cellphone all the time things would have been different, I don't know. It did make me feel better that after we dismounted the guide starting yelling (in Spanish) pointing at his horse and my horse. This confirmed to me, in my head anyway, that there was indeed an issue with the horses' behavior. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING ALL THE PAPERWORK YOU SIGN AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, JUST DON'T SIGN IT. YOU ARE SIGNING AWAY A LOT. AND IT IS JUST NOT WORTH IT. I WOULD NOT PUT A CHILD ON THESE HORSES, AT LEAST NOT THE ONES WE WERE ON. Pros: One really nice guy worked there. Cons: Safety, Cost, Instruction more
