Always wonderful (good wine and beer list now, too) 8/25/2008

I've been here a number of times and always left happy and feeling full. For summer they have been offering an amazing pappardelle with butter, lemon, and mint, plus a mandarin sorbet that is served frozen into the whole orange peel like a little fragrant, dimply bowl. The owner/manager/servers are more than friendly, they learn your name and remember random things about you like my penchant for popping lactaid pills before dessert. I always forgive their casual service habits like clearing one diner before the other is finished or auctioning off entrees because the food comes out so fresh and fast, and I am always delighted. Health nuts' caveat: request ""light on the olive oil"" because sometimes their passion for EVOO gets the best of them at this superb neighborhood trattoria. I'd pick Scalino over Applewood for date night 10 times out of 10. Pros: Fresh, Fast, Friendly more

Great Local Spot with Attentive Service 4/25/2008

My husband and I stopped in on a week night to satiate a pasta craving. The entire menu looked appetizing from pastas to entrees and there were simple, straight-forward specials listed on a chalkboard which the manager(?) showed us. I sampled one of the specials (taglerini with white truffle butter sauce) while my husband had the spinach and ricotta ravioli. We were both pleased with the portions (not ridiculously big or small) and flavors. The decor is cheery with yellow walls and wooden tables. The BYOB option is great to keep the bill from soaring and hopefully when the liquor license comes through it stays reasonable. Both men who were servicing the restaurant were extremely friendly. Judging from their interaction with a few of the patrons, it seems there are already some regulars established. Will definitely revist this spot. Pros: friendly staff, nothing over $20, good food more
