Sanford Auto Salvage

I did a search on car-parts.com for an a/c compressor for a 2000 Kia Sportage and it showed that Sanford Auto Salvage had 4 or 5 available, so I called to find out what the price was. Of course they aren't going to list their prices because apparently the cost of the part varies depending on who you happen to be speaking to at that moment. I drove for 25 miles to pick up the part. I get there and the price went from $30 to $65 plus the core charge. \r \r I normally write down the name of the person I am speaking to when I get a quote. I failed to do that this time so I have no recourse to point out which of their employees this company has to thank for the discrepancy. However, they wasted my time and they have dishonest people on their payroll, so I will be sending out a group email to every single contact I have accumulated in the 10 years I have spent working in their industry to make sure that they do not succeed in wasting any of their time trying to do business with Sanford Auto Salvage. Thank you Sanford Auto Salvage for wasting my time, I hope that yours will be equally wasted. more

Most dishonest bunch ever. They do not do returns for non working parts, while I was there I saw other people returning bad parts also. Does not mark parts they know are bad therefore if you try to return they say it did not come from them. Do not want to honor store credit. Very rude and lacking costumer service. They are overly expensive. I was warned before I went, I went anyways and got burnt twice. more

RUN AWAY - these people are dishonest, conniving, greedy, no customer service, not willing to help you, won't work with you, only want your money and nothing else, NO RETURNS, they may (or maynot) give you a 20% restock even if you just walk out the door BEWARE. This is not a professional place like PEP Boys, or Discount Auto, or any of the main street places. It is a junk yard with a junk yard mentality. They are an old chinese couple from the old country and they have a different set of values then Americans are used to. The chinese are known for counterfeiting, dishonesty, slave labor.\r more

I needed a radio for a 97 Honda. I called Sanford Auto Salvage and they said they had one. When I arrived the next day they said they didn't have one. Finally a guy in the back yelled out and told the other guy what to look for. When they brought it out the back of the radio had a lot of rust. Even down into the vents where the electronics are. They wanted $75 + tax = $80.25 no cash refunds (exchange for other merchandise only), no guarantees on electronics, mechanical parts only!! (A newly refurbished radio is $125 elsewhere.) Another patron said, install it and try it before you pay. Good idea I thought. I mentioned about the rust to the guy behind the counter. He said, it was normal and that my radio would have it too. (I'm thinking no way.) So we left their radio on the counter and went out to the parking lot and pulled our radio out of our car. It was spotless. If anyone is going to be ripped off it WON'T be them!) Finally, after some heated exchanges, they walked into their back room and brought the radio back out!! When I plopped my clean radio on the counter suddenly their radio was no longer for sale! (my radio has a volume knob that works intermittently). My wife let them know how messed up they are and they laughed at us as we left. One of them said, "Go get your lawyer!" I'm sure they're well acquainted with lawyers. I've worked with dune buggies and VW's since I was 15. I've been to a lot of salvage yards. These guys give junk yards a bad name. If you can find the part you need anywhere else drive the extra miles! This is by far the shadiest, most unscrupulous place I've ever been in. more

I have been buying parts from Sanford auto salvage for years and have always been satisfied with there service.They usually offer a 90 day warranty on most of there used parts and if it fails they will replace it! more
