I recently took my computer in after running out of options on fixing it. They offered to take a look at it for free. I brought it in and the manager hooked it up and ran a couple...

They jipped me. 8/13/2009

After my laptop died, I took it in to their store because of it's convenient location around the corner from my place. Big mistake. I put the obligatory deposit down (which was higher than I expected), they kept my computer for a month (even though they said it would only take two weeks), then finally gave it back only after I asked for it back. They told me I had a motherboard failure and that it would be best if I just bought a new computer, which they just happen to sell as well (poor quality and selection too I might add). I'm not that computer savvy, so I accepted defeat and bought a new computer (somewhere else). After a month with my new computer, I gave my ""broken"" one to my other friend for the spare parts. He called me up a day later and told me he fixed it just by re-seating a loose memory chip. The part that gets me the most is that they kept the pricey deposit that I gave them for the ""labor"" charges. Never again. Maybe they used to be good, but not anymore. Please don't get ripped off by these guys like I did. Cons: Yes they are. more

Offensive, disgusting, pushy, rude... 6/17/2009

This is how I would describe the owner of this establishment. Patronizing, insulting, degrading, the man speaks to you as if you're a child or an idiot, striving to boost sales. A lot of physical contact, getting close, heavy breathing are all tactics he exploits in an attempt to convey friendliness; the fact that he seemingly has never flossed makes this aspect of his methods absolutely revolting. If he's not spewing racial slurs, he's ranting about a wide variety of sexual and bodily functions. He is your proverbial used car salesman. When he isn't loudly arguing with his wife, he's finding some other way of attacking a number of your senses; including and not limited to your sense of smell. The service department is rude and pushy, not to mention unknowledgeable. Constantly insisting you further upgrade your system or insisting on premium services; declining such services and or upgrades results in a loss of priority for your business, delaying turnaround to two weeks or more. The hardware they sell is grossly overpriced. In many cases boosting prices up to 400% over MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price), employing scare tactics similar to that of shady car mechanics in order to sell said hardware. I would not suggest going to this place. You'd be better off taking your business to a corporate company such as Best Buy, where they at least have a standard of quality and service to abide by. Pros: There's an exit. Cons: Stu; the resident con. more

Worst Customer Service 4/10/2009

I wouldn't consider doing business here unless you have an affinity for car salesmen. When talking with Stu (the owner) be sure he is giving you all the details. Stu and I had worked out an agreement for a new computer system and later (the next day) he did not honor that agreement. When confronted with the situation he remained in his office and made his employee do the dirty work of reneging our deal. In doing a little research I also found the store to be overpriced. I would not recommend doing business with Sandia Computers. Pros: Salesman was very nice and polite Cons: ""Guru Stu"" is essentially a car salesman in sheeps clothing more

The best computer place in ABQ 10/1/2008

Sandia Computers is the best place in Albuquerque to get not only good computers, but the service required to make those computers good. The service I got for the three computers I have bought from them over time has been flawless. If you want a personal computer, that is practically built just for you, this is the place. Those other guys must have walked into the wrong store, cause there is absolutely nothing shady about this place. Great for family computers as well. Pros: Exellent service, Exellent Computers. Cons: Parking space is alittle small. more

FABULOUS SERVICE 9/17/2008

I just bought me first computer from Sandia, and the service I received was fantastic. They took the time to answer all of my questions, and even copied over my old files from my dead Dell computer at no charge. My boss is taking all of our companies computers to them for service, and we're even getting 6 new machines from them due to the great experience I had. Great Store, Great Products, Great Service. I wish more stores in Albuquerque had their knowledge and caring. Thanks Stu for all your help.\r Customer for Life. Pros: Really Patient more

He will take the extra step to make sure you are treated like he treats himself. That is something that is few and far between. I have talked with Stuart and I like the way he conducts his business. Pros: THUMBS DOWN Cons: THUMBS DOWN more

Terrific Computers 8/24/2008

I just bought my 5th custom built computer from Stu and the guys at Sandia. This one is for my son going off to college. In 10 years of doing business with them, I can only remember 1 problem with any of my computers, and it was a virus my wife downloaded. Which they fixed for me without losing any of the data on the drive. We use Dell's at the office, with nothing but problems and headaches. Sure wish they would go to Sandia from now on. Thanks, guys for always being there for me. Pros: great value Cons: n/a more

Great Customer Service 8/24/2008

I'm a single mom, and while shopping for a computer for my girls, no one would help me at any other store, but Sandia Computers. I felt they really cared, not just trying to make a sale. They even showed me how to give each of my daughters their own email accounts. Wonderful people, and I have recommended them to all my friends. Don't wast your time going anywhere else! Pros: really cares about the customer Cons: need a little more parking more

the best mom and pop computer shop 4/16/2008

I have no idea why someone said what they said in the other review. It probably was written by a competitor of Sandia Computers, jealous of their high volume of customers and their good reputation. In my experience Sandia is a place where the employees are always helpful, knowledgeable, and above all, honest. They know the best software to run and how to get the most out of it. Their new computers are not cheap, but they are high quality and can be configured however you like it. The service department is one of the largest in the state. They can tune up your computer better than anyone else, and in many cases for a lower price. Pros: personal attention, real people on the phone, knowledgeable Cons: limited selection of parts due to size, not many cheap computers more

Sandia Computers rubbed me wrong 2/3/2008
