Editorial review from Citysearch 7/12/2013

Not the place to live if you don't like stupid rules. Since the manager of Sanbyrn Hall sent me a email, rebuking me for having used ""social media"" to critique this establishment I will set my record straight. The appearance of Sanbyrn Hall is quite acceptable. It is undergoing some renovations and upgrading.\r But, the Board of Directors for the HOA decided to vote a new HOA fee which is very difficult to accept. A 1 br unit must pay $136 a month. A 2 br $202 and a 3 br unit must pay $246. Now there are aprox 9 units for sale and I expect that it will become very difficult to rent anything at a reasonable rate due to the increase in fees. \r It sure as hell will deter anyone in their right mind from buying one that's for sure. more

Great place for the retired and serious students 10/13/2011

My parents lived here for over 10 years and liked it very much. They had good friendships with their neighbors. It is very quiet and safe. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I don't think they ever had a problem with the management. I can understand why some college students might be unhappy here, though. It is not a place for loud parties and activities in the middle of the night. That would be frowned upon by some residents. Based on my parents experiences, it was a great place for their retirement. more

Sanbyrn Hall is Well Managed! 9/20/2011

Sanbyrn Hall is a great place to live for those who want a peacefu, clean, well maintained, and quiet place to live. The management communicates well with everyone concerning what is going on and responds quickly to your needs and follows up well with you. Larry on maintenance is special, very caring and helpful to everyone. He is a hard worker who wants the place to kept up and looking nice.Everyone I have met here is very nice and helpful, but at the same time lets you be independent. We have livd here for a long time and have lived at many other places and we can tell you we rate this place not ""Five Stars"" but ""Six Stars""!!! The CCR's are real simple and easy to follow and like most places that have HOA's if you don't like the rules follow them or move as you do not get special treatment over everyone else who pays their fair share. We would not hesitate to move back here again IF we ever had to leave for a while due to a job transfer, etc. FIVE STARS FOR SANBYRN HALL!! more

THE OLD RULE IS TRUE .....DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER 8/11/2011

Grounds are kept nice but do you really want to pay the price which is following dumb rules. So PLEASE take a new homebuyers advice and stay away from Sanbyrn Hall Condos. You tell the manager Jean something that should be kept private and believe me that everyone will know of it within a week..... more

Excellent grounds, tempermental management 7/18/2011

If I were rating Sanbyrn Hall strictly on the surroundings I would give it 5 stars. The grounds are beautiful, the location is convenient, and the area feels safe. There is concern about management though. The place seems to be ruled over by one manager, and she can be unwelcoming to prospective buyers. There is a rule that no prospective buyer is allowed to see the bylaws unless they are in active negotiations with a seller. This means that once you make an offer, put up earnest money, and THEN are allowed to see the bylaws, you are forced to comply with them or sacrifice your earnest money. My disabled brother bought a condo here in May (he has epilepsy) and the management has done nothing but harass him about his service dog, trying to force him to get rid of her. They claim that even if a blind man were to move there he would not be allowed to keep his seeing eye dog if it exceeded the 25 lb limit. This is a direct violation of The Fair Housing Act and the American's with Disabilities Act, yet the manager claims that Sanbyrn bylaws ""supercede"" federal laws. In two months there has been no HOA meeting where homeowners were actually invited and had a voice. We plan to file a complaint with the Dept of Justice is they don't change the bylaws to accommodate the disabled. The busybody comments are true in my experience. People whom my brother has never met seem to know he is on disability income, which should be held in confidence by the manager, but obviously was not. The pool didn't open until June 10th, more than 2 weeks late. Believe the other review about management written by mo5204, because it has been totally my experience and it seems nothing has changed in the 31/2 years since it was written. more

Safe, Convienient, Beautiful Property 8/30/2008

I have lived in Sanbyrn Hall for the past 4 years. Contrary to the other reviews, I find Sanbyrn a very pleasant place to live. Yeah some of the condos and certain parts of community, ex. the workout room, may be outdated, but the majority of the exterior, ex. plants and flowers, are well maintained. The location is excellent considering is it convieniently located near grocery stores, pharmacies, the mall, etc. I consider the community to be very safe. About the busy bodied neighbors, that may be correct in certain buildings, but my honest opinion is if you do not wish for anyone to know your business, simply smile, wave, and go inside about your day. Thats the only way to stop the gossip. There are several older tenants in the community, but thats better than living in a college community w/ young teenagers throwing wild keg parties on their porches causing a ruckus w/ cops constantly on the premises. Like I said before, I consider Sanybyrn a very safe place to live. There is a monthly fee, but that includes the maintenance such as the upkeep of the beautiful olympic size swimming pool, pest control, plumbing issues, the lawn, and water. The ""lights out"" rule is new to me, considering I have never had a problem with noise, and when I have entertained guests at my several social events in condo I have never had any complaints. I would recommend Sanybryn for all ages. more

Very Late 1970's Interiors, Very VERY very Busybody neighbors 7/18/2007

I have lived at Sanbyrn Hall for the past 2 years in the C building.. OHH my god it was one thing after another. Plumbing problems are the most rutine encounter along with evasive neighborly questions about what/who was parking in the lot or did you have company over? Very Busy bodied neighbors with Idle time on their hands to just set around and talk about who is new to the building. Lights out by 7:30-8:00pm and rules to be followed no matter what or you will recieve harrassing phone calls from landlords or management!!! take my advice if you are young and in your 30's dont live here... Its not worth the hell....!!! Pros: Shady Parking lots that are dark at night... Cons: Busybodied NEIGHBORS, Weird Plumbing Problems, Way To many Cats!!!!!!!!!!!! more
