\r My wife and I recently decided it was time to move, maybe find something bigger. San Mateo Rentals was ready to help us with all of our needs. \r Their box prices are good, and they even had their phone number on the side of the boxes. Very handy for when we were ready to call them for the truck rental. Their customer service was awesome, and they were very fast. We were in and out, and moving our stuff in 10 mins or less. Good truck selections, anything from a 10ft to a 24ft moving truck. and much better mileage than Uhaul.\r I will definately be using San Mateo Rentals again when the summer comes, and we start our new yard renovation. They have all sorts of yard equipment; sod cutters, lawn mowers, and dethatching units.\r \r Good Prices and Great Service!\r more

Dear Mike S.\r San Mateo Rentals values the reviews we get on the web- however we find your posting is extremely misleading. On November 11 at 9:24 am you rented a piece of equipment (concrete drill). The next day you returned the drill at 3:39 p.m.- for a rental period of 1 day 6.3 hours- hardly a "few minutes late". ALL of our daily rentals come with a one hour grace period for FREE (travel time). After that period we do start to charge an hourly fee on all of our equipment. In your case, the hourly rate is $12, so after 5 additional hours you had reached another daily rate of $60. San Mateo Rentals takes our reviews seriously, and I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. We did want to address a few of your comments: for the truck you rented we do charge .75 per mile, we will tell you that on the phone, and we will tell you that when you arrive (last time we checked UHaul was .99 per mile). When a truck is returned we take every truck, every time, to our pump to make sure it is full- we never go by the needle. This strategy avoids anyone from ""covering the previous renter"". If the amount of fuel needed is up to a gallon- we do not charge the customer. If the amount needed is over a gallon we do charge-sorry. Not sure why your truck required 1.5 gallons, could have been the nozzle at the gas station, or distance from here that you filled up at. Lastly the moving blankets are not included, we do our best to keep them clean, and we are disapointed that yours were not. We would be happy to apply the $3 for the two pads the next time you come to see us.\r San Mateo Rentals more

Penny Pinching Rental Agency 11/13/2010

Great variety of equipment. Friendly faces at check-in. Now I know why. \r \r Penny pinching company. I was minutes late returning a rental and was told that it will cost me another day. Avoid these guys unless you want to give up your first born for a small rental. more

Charged .75 cents per mile. I put gas in the truck to return it, and even though the needle was well past full, I got charged for leaving it a gallon-plus short of being completely topped off. The truck was more ""full"" when I returned it than when I received it, and pretty much covered the previous renter. They did not include any blankets or such, and charged $1.50 for each old, greasy blanket I needed at the time. Pros: convenient location in San Mateo Cons: over-charging more
