Very polite and professional 7/14/2011

All the employees of SDHI were polite and professional. The work crews arriving for the stages of the patio cover project were punctual with their appointment times. There was a slow start to the project originally with the pricing and the permit process. However, the team at SDHI handled this well and got the project done within my requests with electricity and capping that off as well as with cleaning up. I now have a great lattice shade cover (arbor) in the back yard. It looks great and is lifetime warranted. more

Absolutely fantastic work 6/28/2011

After my project was completed I received a survey to rate the services that were provided from San Diego Home Improvements. I really cant find a thing that went wrong with the job. Excellent customer service, clean and courteous crews working on my job and a beautiful result. I want to thank all the crew members and the manager for all the hard work that they put into my job, I have to admit I am not one of the easiest customers to handle, and am extremely happy with the end result.? more

A Job Well Done 6/28/2011

?These were the very nicest folks to work with ! They were extremely neat and came when they said they would and did a beautiful job with our home; including the clean-up afterwards. In speaking with the owner, he seemed like such a very nice man and it was easy to tell that he was old-fashioned in the very best ways...wanted to do the best possible work. He even sent a beautiful ""thank you"" note after the job was finished. Seems as though we should be the ones sending HIM a thank you note for the terrific work! I would heartily recommend them to anyone who wants their home to look it's best.? more

Best Contractor in San Diego County By Far 6/28/2011

?After doing my due diligence and research for a general contractor in San Diego, I decided to go with San Diego Home Improvements. I needed a stucco repair, trim painted, windows and a roof repair for my home and I am very happy I chose San Diego Home Improvements for this job. From the beginning the customer service and how they made me feel as a client was incredible. They took the time to explain my options and provided ideas like no other. These guys go the extra mile to exceed all my expectations. Not only did they do a great job, the total amount of the project was done for 10% less than what was originally quoted and in my experience, this is seldom seen in the construction industry. Call them if you want it done right!? more

Great Company From A Real Customer 6/28/2011

?I contracted San Diego Home improvements to do my roof, windows and some stucco repair. This is a great company. It has been a pleasure to work with such a professional group of people. From the owner all the way to the last worker, they were all so courteous to me and my family. As soon as my job was completed I had to post this review so the public can see it. I invite any of you to visit my house and see the perfect worked that was performed at my property. Thank you so much more

Honest, Reliable, Fast and Statisfied 6/27/2011

I interviewed 5 contractors for my roof but I was mosted impressed with San Diego Home Improvements. The price was reasonable and they even had an option for 1 year same as cash. Once the job was scheduled, the crew worked fast and made sure everything was clean before they left. They have a great craftmanship warranty as well. I would definitely recommend San Diego Home Improvements to my friends more

Extremely professional and high quality workmanship 6/23/2011

The crew that did my new roof was great and seemed to know there job, roof look good, the crew cleaned up well. They replaced some wood. I never felt out of the loop. I had to ask a couple of questions and got them answered. I knew there was some bad wood and I'm happy because they replaced it. I would recommend San Diego Home Improvements more

AWESOME JOB! 6/18/2011

San Diego Home Improvements, specifically Mr. Lougiakishas given me my home back. A late 1950's Post & Beam restored to it's original condition and it's beyond spectacular. Not only was the work done in a very timely manner, but everyone that came to my property treated me with respect. The guys never used foul language, smoked or drank on the job, and always, always, always, left my property in a very clean and neat order at the end of the day.I might also add that the service from the manager Jay and Williams is absolutly over the top. It was a rare occasion if I didn't talk to him at least 3 times a day. My project was never unattended and the work progressed on a steady and consistant basis. The cost was with in a few hundred dollars of what I was told it would be, and trust me, I feel I got the better end of the deal. Absolute value for what I recieved in craftsmanship.Anyone looking to have a restoration or remodle of their home that really cares about the finer details should absoluty contact San Diego Home Improvements more

Thank You Again and Again 6/18/2011

San Diego Home Improvenents does great work. They were always at the jobsite offering support and suggestions. They finished my job 3 years ago and anytime that something came up, i called them and either they came or one of their employees came the next day, even if it had nothing to do with the work that they performed. The attention to detail and the workmanship is EXCEPTIONAL. The old saying ""you pay for what you get"" well that statement holds true with San Diego Home Improvements..Respectful price, Exceptional Quality, and the Best Customer Service! more

Straight forward 6/18/2011

It is refreshing to know that there is a general contractor still out there that does what he says and follows through.I appreciate the experience that I have had with this company in all of my projects. I would definitely refer him to any friends, co-workers, or family when choosing a quality contractor.Good guys, master of high end jobs, easy to work with! more

Meeting deadlines 6/18/2011

When we re-located to Southern California from out of state, we first met with Jay to make preparations for remodeling a used home that we were planning to purchase; as our primary home. They had great ideas to help us attain our vision while staying within our budget and most importantly without compromising the quality of their work. The project was done before schedule and our move was a success. We would definitely hire them again more

Very Efficient 6/18/2011

The sales rep was professional and not pushy, very educational which help us make our choice and working out the finances. The crew is easy to communicate with, polite, and keep areas around the home clean daily. Very good quality work. Very efficient. Management and field supervisor just great, very accessible by phone. Good with working out finances. I would recommend neighbors, friends, and family to San Diego Home Improvements more

SDHI Sucks 6/16/2011

This company is horrible......San Diego Home Improvement contractors would not show on the dates and times they promised they would. I consistently had to call the project manager to find out when someone would be here to start the job. When they finally did show, two days late, they demo'd the shower. In conversation with the contractor I found out he was a subcontractor for SDHI. When we originally negotiated the contract, we specifically asked if they hired subcontractors or do they have their own employees. The salesman, Rudy, guaranteed us they have their own staff because we didn’t want subcontractors.\r After removing the shower, the subcontractor, Michael, said he would be here the next morning, Thursday. The next morning no one showed. I called Michael he said he wouldn’t be able to come back until the next day, Friday. The next day Michael did not show but the project manager, William, did with his hand out asking for a 3rd check, which I reluctantly gave him. I expressed this concern with him and I asked if Michael was coming out to start work, he said ‘no’ he had to go out of town, but he promised me he would be here on Tuesday to start work. Tuesday came and no Michael. I called Michael, he said SDHI didn’t have a check for him to pick up my supplies. I asked what happened on Friday that he didn’t show up. He said the check wasn’t ready. It wasn’t that he went out of town, he told me he didn’t go out of town on Friday. I called William to find out why he didn’t have a check ready for the subcontractor when I gave him $2180.00 already. William said Michael never picked the check up and it’s been ready since Friday.\r Out of frustration, my Partner called the General Manager, Jay, on Tuesday, he was not in. She was given his cell phone number, which rang and eventually went to voice mail, so she called the main office back again asking to speak to someone else in charge. The operator transferred her to William. That’s when she told him she wanted to cancel the job because of the poor customer service we were receiving, and the lies. He consistently placed blame on Michael and accused me of lying about the account of the events. I told him I wanted a full refund because of their failures and inconsistencies. He said he would talk to someone and call her back… she is still waiting for that call. When I got home that night, I called to stop payment on the 3rd check we should never have given. \r The next day, Wednesday, William showed up on my door step trying to apologize and asked to keep my business. I told him I was very disappointed in the way he handled this job. The sales pitch gave us a sense of fairness and honesty, but that was not what we received. William immediately jumped out of apology mode and into the blame game again. At one point he made me feel like this was my fault in some way. I told him I was done with him and his company, and I wanted a full refund. He said he would start the paperwork for my refund and would give me a call later with an update. I didn’t receive that phone call, so my Partner called Jay again. He was not in the office so she called his cell, which he did not answer, so she left a vm.\r The next day, Thursday, I called William to ask about the status of my check. He said someone will be calling me shortly. By 1:30 I hadn’t received a phone call so I called the owner, Gary. I told Gary the difficulties I was having with his employees. He was apologetic and said he never had a problem out of these two guys and he would talk to his staff. Aside from that, he was not very much help.\r They charged me $500.00 for the demo, $50.00 for cancelling the windows, and $12.00 for the check cancellation fee I had to initiate since they didn't do the work they had promised. $582.00 dollars later, I now have to shop for another contractor, which is really going to be hard to overcome the trust factor. All courtesy of SDHI!\r more

Not if they were the last possible place to hire. 6/16/2011

They get one star because the system will not let me go lower. more

Customer service? Forget it. 6/13/2011

We hired SDHI for a small bathroom upgrade, based on recommendations and the experience conveyed by the salesperson. It was downhill from there. Postponements, unreturned calls, excuses that turned out to be false, and even after calling the office and faxing the owner, no one returned a call. The project manager didn't seem to manage anyone or anything. Thanks to the subcontractor, AllProTile--Mike and Juan--who were the only ones who showed professionalism AND returned calls, the job was finally completed. My recommendation: Avoid SDHI unless you want frustration. more

No need to look for another painter again 3/11/2011

I went with San Diego Home Improvements because of the good reviews. Tony came over based on our schedule and wrote up a bid within minutes. From the get go they were very professional. The price was very fair which allowed us to even add on some extra work we needed done. From the moment they arrived at 7:00 am until the final detail was done, they were on time, cleaned up, worked with us to make sure everything was perfect, and gave 110% to make sure we were happy. We had a tough time deciding on colors and they were very patient with us as we painted about 20 or so colors all over to make up our mind. I would definitely recommend San Diego Home Improvements. I will use this company for any painting needs we may have in the future. They are great people and very good at what they do. more
