From our front door bell to our back door knob, we found everything we needed at your store. We were helped by a few different staff members from time to time and each one was very helpful but, our main contact person from start to finish was Vicke Peterson. Had it not been for Vike's help, we're confident that our journey through the long process would not have been anywhere as successful as it turned out. Vike showed great patience with us as we worked through many tuff decisions on what would work best for our needs. We couldn't be happier with all that we picked out. I brought an older homeowner whose home had burned and we were rebuilding. We needed EVERYTHING. Eric Billington was EXTREMELY patient and helpful with us. He made the entire experience much less hectic and exhausting that it could have ended up. :) more

We had been looking all over online and at other hardware stores for some handles to match some knobs we already had with no luck. Went into SDHCo and got Eric to find a great match without our knob to compare. Came back with the knob and Ed finalized the decision by matching color and confirming the best fit based on our criteria. Now we can finally open our drawers without hurting our fingers! more

The sales representative whp assisted me, Dori Harris, provided excellent assistance. Her professionalism, knowledge & efficiency are commendable. SD Hardware has an extremely nice showroom, a good selection, & makes a customer feel welcome. I find it extremely annoying when a sales repreentative makes you feel like he/she is doing you a favor & I never got that feeling there from anyone. My only concern is that I feel the prices are quite high. I would have purchased some additional items but the cost of what I purchased was so high that it cut into my budget much more so than I anticipated. Would I return for purchases in the future --- Yes. I don't mind paying somewhat higher prices for a good selection & high customer service which is certainly provided. But the flip side of that is that I am retired. So I need to monitor my spending, especially in today's economy. In the future I will do more comparative pricing. And I would sacrifice what SD Hardware provides to a customer if I could locate a comparable item at a more competitive price. Make no mistake though, SD Hardware is a quality retailer. RESPONSE FROM San Diego Hardware Company: While we appreciate, very much, the nice words from this reviewer, we would like to comment on what was said about our prices. The products in our showroom are "mid to high end" products. The "big box" stores tend to carry products in the "low to mid" price range so, of course, if you compare, for example, one of our special locksets to what you find in a "big box" store you are going to find that ours is more expensive. When compared with other retailers selling the same or similar products you will find that our prices are competitive or lower. Other reviewers on this site have testified to this fact. more

I found Rebecca's advice and assistance invalueable. She has a wonderful repore with people and really knows her stuff. On my last purchase I needed a utility knob to match my handles. I came in on a Wed. when Rebecca was off and was told there were no utility handle in my style of knob. Came back the the next day, Rebecca called the company and got one for me in 8 days. She originally helped me pick the knobs because I wanted handles and knobs and was stuck on a style that only had knobs. more
