30th Ave Grand Slam! 10/3/2011

I have been coming to saloon for about 10 years. Every time I walk out, I always feel my best. Since I have been coming here for years, I feel like like a have tried every stylist. To name a few, Julie, she is always super warm and helpful whenever I decide I need a change. She does excellent cuts and styles. I have also had my hair cut, style, and colored with Selvi. She too has always been honest and helpful with whatever new ideas I want to try. Her cuts lasts forever!! Florentina as well, is an amazing colorist! She is this adorable little woman, with a big a big personality. She always knows exactly what I want and makes me feel amazing. The rest of staff is welcoming and warm, to be honest there is nothing bad I can say, which is why I suggest them to all my friends and family. more

One of the BEST CUTS OF MY LIFE! 9/19/2011

Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! I have been in twice, so far, for hair cuts and they were both marvelous. I hadn't gotten a professional cut in a while because I had a baby and what seemed like 30% of my hair had fallen out. So basically, I had a mullet and I thought 'what could they do to help me?'. One of my girlfriends who is a very loyal customer assured me that with the right cut my hair style could look current and full. I'm so glad I gave it a try. I ended up with shoulder length hair which was way longer then I had expected and it still looked full. Honestly, I'm not sure how Frank kept so much length. It was definitely one of the best cuts of my life. more

Nikki the air head 6/29/2011

Well.... My last expierence was absoutly terribleee. I had Nikki cut my hair I HATED it i have curly hair and she cut a symetical shape i looked like E.T ! She was snobby and she leaned over and neatless to say she doesnt smell to good, i rather have my hair squirted with hot diahrea ! she went back to cut my hair i explained what i wanted and she continued to do what she wanted then she had to use the restroom she took a good 10 mins i was waiting like and idiot and NOT to mention she checked her phone 3 times !!!!! i left the place looking like a freak and being starred by the public eye. more

DO NOT GO! 3/15/2011

This salon should not be representing redken. They are less than amateurs cutting hair. I had an appointment with NIKKI and she cut my hair worse than a immigrated barber who just got his license. She had a NASTY attitude, didn't acknowledge questions I asked and decided to ignore me completely. Im a super friendly low maintenance guy just showed a picture of what I wanted and she confidently said she understand. Next thing I know my hair is all gone. I wish I could post pictures on this site so you all don't have to be depressed after having a bad experience. Word of Advice to the Salon: If you are inexperienced or do not know if you can do it than DONT. If you are having a bad day than STAY HOME. Customers aren't your test dummies more

Amazing Salon 3/14/2011

L.O.V.E - That is what Florentina showed me from the moment I walked into Saloon Salon. My hair was a disaster. Over processed and horribly damaged. Florentina made me feel at ease immediatley. This was my first time there and I had done extensive research before choosing saloon. They use the best products and have seasoned professionals handling your hair. Flo is a sweetheart and a true pro!!! My hair color is fantastic and no further damage was done. In fact my hair was in better condition after the color was done. (I LOVE HER) Next step was getting my haircut. Selvi took over. THE BEST HAIRCUT I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!! more

Redken Saloon Salon saved the day! 2/12/2011

The other day I walked in Redken's Saloon Salon looking for a bit of a change. I've been there a hand full of times to get a minor haircut or bang trim, and they've always been wonderful, but on this day I wanted a little something more, but wasn't sure what. The minute I walked into Redken, I was warmly greeted by a woman named Florentina (Flo). I wasn't sure what I wanted, but somehow she did everything I could have hoped for and more to my hair. I didn't know how to verbalize the change that I wanted but she nailed it. Not only was she a fantastic colorist, but she was so kind and entertaining! I will without a doubt be coming back to Flo for all of my coloring needs, and I highly recommend you do the same. Especially if you're a brunette like I am and need a bit of ""fun"" added to your appearance! Thanks again Flo! I'll be telling my friends about you! more

Flo -the best colorist 1/21/2011

I wanted to change my hair color and a friend recommended me to go to Saloon and ask for Florentina (Flo). I have to say I had a great experience. She understood exactly what I wanted and suggested the best way to do that without damaging my hair. (I wanted to go lighter and to avoid a harming procedure for my hair she suggested subtle highlights). Flo is defintely an expert in colors and a pleasant and entertaining person. She made the coloring process smooth and pleasant. I will definitely go back and I highly recommend her exceptional service!!!! more

Great Hair Experience 12/13/2010

I got a GREAT new haircut!!!! Frank at Saloon Salon is a wonderful stylist. He was able to articulate what I was trying to get at by asking me specific questions about what I was looking for. He was fun to talk to and it was the first time I ever got a haircut that looked exactly like what I imagined in my head. more

I went looking for a new look 9/7/2010

So it started about 3 weeks ago I was starting to hate my hair color and wanted to try and go back to my natural color as best as possible. I was nervous but so happy Nikki did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier. I went from damaged long curly black hair to short light brown with a little blond. It took two long periods of time but so worth every mintue and every penny. more

I went in on a whim, and Pat was assigned to me. She was fabulous. I got a cut and blowout- my hair is long. I let her know that I was getting my headshots done- and she made me look amazing! My cut was perfect, and the blowout looked great for days. Pros: she's great more

Jenn took me from black to blond! 11/28/2009

Jenn took my hair from black to blond over the period of a few months, while maintaining the integrity of my hair. Not only that but I always get compliments on my cut. I've been trying to grow my hair out long for years and she has managed to help me do it! She is a miracle worker! Love you Jenn!!! Pros: Amazing colorist, Amazing cuts more

Jennifer fixed my bleach blond nightmare! 11/25/2009

Another salon convinced me to add highlights to my already platinum bleach blonde hair. It was awful! I cried and then wore hats for weeks. My root area ranged from light orange to pumpkin orange, especially the back of my head and it just getting worst. Jennifer(who is a platinum blonde herself, by the way) took a lot of time and care to make my hair perfect! She worked slowly and meticulously bleaching a few hairs at a time and taking time to bleach the length of the orange (which varied). The result was better than anything I had hoped for. I think she is the best person I have found to go to for bleach blonde hair! Pros: Fixed a huge problem with my hair more

Golden Hands, Worth every penny 10/27/2009

I have been going to different salons around the city. It was hard finding the right place were i could really trust someone with my hair, until a friend recommended Saloon Salon in Astoria. The first time i walked in the place, it looked more like a city salon which was a good thing being im from Queens and didn't have to travel far to get a city feel and cut. I then was introduced to a top stylist named ""Selvi"" that my friend has been going to for a little over 8 months. Her consultation was so professional and she guided me threw all the details and made me feel very comfortable with all the ideas she had presented to me. When the hair was cut and finished it looked amazing! I was so happy with the results and the technic she used to make my hair look and feel great...I would definitely recommend the salon and the stylist Selvi to others...I found a new home for my hair Thank You so much!!! great place to get your hair done 10/25/2009

i wear my hair short and was tired of buzz cuts from the barber shops. I walked in and was fit in for a haircut by stylist named Frank. After a great wash and a rather quick haircut, Frank put some material in my hair and i loved the way it looked. Pros: good atmosphere more

Good haircut but a bit over priced 10/22/2009

Hi I do like Saloon Spa, but was going to another place in Astoria that was not as pricey and gave just as great cut as well. I do keep going to the saloon b/c the hair dresser I was using at the previous place I was going to left and I tried the Saloon and don't feel like finding someone new. And Selvi is great btw I have recommended her to others and they have loved her, It was someone else I meant to write down who I can't remember and I can't remove my comment under pros and cons! Pros: Good cut except for one sylist - Selvie Cons: price more

Singing Selvi's Praises 8/30/2009

I have been going to the Saloon for many years - was introduced to Selvi when my regular haircutter relocated. In my first appointment with Selvi, she very thoughtfully explained her background and her fees. In my third visit with her just recently, I decided to go from very long hair to chin length. Selvi was encouraging and enthusiastic. We discussed what I was looking for and Selvi went to work. As I sat there getting this drastic change, I was grateful that I was inroduced to Selvi - she is a compassionate, gentle professional I would whole-heartedly recommend to anyone. She takes her time and always offers to blow-dry my wavy, full-bodied hair straight with no suggestion that it will cost ""extra""! BTW, I love my new shorter hair and have gotten many compliments! Wonderful haircut from Selvi 8/24/2009

Selvi was fantastic. I have thick wavy hair that really loses body when it gets long. Selvi took the time to look at my hair, evaluate its condition and discuss a style with me. stylist to the stars (and now, me) 8/5/2009

I already was a fan of this salon for its colorist (fabulous Fiorentina). and when my long-time stylist moved back to Panama recently (boo-hoo--I heart Marcos!), it gave me an excuse to try Saloon for a haircut. I booked an appointment with salon owner Frank (why not go to the top?) and was not disappointed. I got a great cut and terrific service, as usual. And the price .. Marcos, love ya, but if you stay in Panama, it may break my heart but won't break the bank! Pros: friendly service, great results more
