I have been a loyal client of Salon Dacota for so long I can't remember the year. I do remember I started as a walk-in and was introduced to Chrissy and she has been my stylist of choice every since. She is conscientious about her job taking care to make my fine and thin hair look voluminous. Chrissy offers great suggestions to keep my style fresh and has eased me into color. I walked into Salon Dacota on a Thursday night (with no appointment mind you) to get my eyebrows waxed. I was in pretty desperate need of it because I was in a wedding that Saturday. I figured I would walk in and be told no one had time, but much to my dismay someone was available! Bobbi was the stylist who ended up helping me, and might I say my eyebrows have never looked better! Everyone was super friendly. In my past life, I was a hair stylist hopper - never quite satisfied with my haircut and/or feeling I was paying too much for the service I received. For the past six months, I've been getting my haircut by Chrissy at Salon Dacota, and I love the results! Chrissy is a true professional who takes pride in her work. She always takes the time to listen to my needs and makes suggestions regarding what works well for my hair type. I've been really pleased with my haircut, but it's also nice to receive compliments from others including complete strangers. As an added bonus, the decorating and atmosphere at Salon Dacota are very inviting and warm. I was new to the area and I needed to find a good place to get my hair cut and colored. A friend at work suggested that I call Salon Dacota and make an appointment with Bobbi. So I called, thinking that it would be a few weeks before I could get in, however I was able to get in the same week I called, which was great! When I got there I was greeted by a very friendly front desk staff who immediately notified Bobbi that I was there. Bobbi was right on time for my appointment, which does not happen at most salons. We had a consultation where he asked me questions about what I thinking, he listened and did not rush me as I was not exactly sure what I wanted. He then gave me some suggestions as to some different cuts he could do to make my hair very easy to manage and not take too much time to style daily. I took his advice and we got started. He kept conversation going the whole time and I felt like I had known him my entire life. He is a great guy and stylist. He gave me the best hair cut and color that I have ever had and now I often get compliments on my hair. I have never seen anyone cut or color hair better than Bobbi. His prices are in line with other salons and you get better service from Bobbi then any others. I would suggest making an appointment with him, you will not be disappointed. If you cannot get an appointment with Bobbi, all the stylist there are great. Extremely friendly atmosphere and you will feel comfortable at all times. I started going to Salon Dacota because the stylist at my previous salon moved further away. Convenience is important to me. Salon Dacota is very close to my home and work. I have been going to Trisha at Salon Dacota. She's great! She listens to what I want and she is very talented at what she does. She does highlights and lowlights and it comes out looking fantastic. After each of my past three visits, people now compliment me on my hair and hair color. Best of all, my hair style is low maintneance. You can not do any better than either of the two. Michael (the owner) of the salon takes great efforts to have a place to enjoy and fall in love with the experience. Bobby Stylz is pretty flawless. He is truly a Michael clone very soon if not already! He is tremendous on converstaion, knowledge and personality plus. You leave feeling like a Queen or King. His color expertise is outstanding. I recently had my hair low lighted, highlighted, cut and styled by Bobbi Stylez. Initially I had sticker shock over what I felt was a higher price than expected however after several days I realized the money was well spent. Since my last stylist moved to Florida, I have been bouncing around from place to place. 3 years later, I show up at Salon Dacota, with yet another bad haircut and bad home hair color, which I did to cover another stylist's highlighting mistake. I booked my appointment with Bobbi based on the reviews here. And he is as fabulous as they all say! First of all, it is a very trendy, yet comfortable salon. You wouldn't be out of place if you showed up in a suit after work, or if you rolled in in sweatpants. Everyone is very friendly. There is no pretentious vibe that you can get at some salons. Bobbi had me sit in the chair and talked to me for a very long time about my style and color before he even got out a cape. He gave me a ""dry cut"", which I had never heard of before. He completely straightened my hair to take out all the wave, and then cut it while it was totally dry. After watching him do it, I wonder why everyone doesn't do dry cuts on hairstyles that have alot of texturizing and layering. He also did an all over color for me that is an absolute perfect match to my natural hair color--no gray and no roots! They have a portable blower to process your color--they roll it to you. So the only time you have to get out of the chair is to go get your shampoo--which is actually a shampoo/massage. Let me just say, Bobbi is the King of the shampoo/massage. You can skip your chiropractor the week you get your hair cut. Although the parafin wax dip was good too! Anyway--Bobbi spent 2 1/2 hours on my cut and color. I don't think I've ever had anyone spend that much time on my hair. And it looks fabulous! I have been trying for 3 years to get a short, layered bob that looks trendy, not frumpy--and the cut I walked out is exactly what I wanted, and looks exactly like the picture I walked in with. I recently moved to the area and needed a new stylist. After reading the reviews on several salons, I decided to try Salon Dacota. I'm really particular about my hair (as most women are), but I don't want to break the bank. I was excited when my stylist seemed to listen to me, what I wanted for my hair, etc. And then she started.... doing what I didn't want. E.g. I said minimal highlights (5 or 6 foils) - I ended up with 12 or 13. I said I'd like to clean up my cut and keep as much length as possible.. - she took an inch or more off of my already relatively short hair. All the while she never asked me a thing about myself and proceeded to tell me about herself and chat with the other stylists. I have been to many of St. Louis' top salons and have never been as satisfied with my color as I was walking out of Salon Dacota. I am very particular about my hair as most women are. When I visited Salon Dakota to get a new cut and highlight my stylist (Trisha) spent a great deal of time going over just what I wanted to make sure I would be happy. They are also very accommodating there and friendly. Trish even spent extra time trying to find me the magazine I would like to read. When she finished with my hair, all I could think was WOW! I loved it! I got so many compliments on the cut and color and can't wait to go back again! So...just moving to the St. Louis area a year ago I had gone to MANY hair stylists in the area and every time I was disappointed! After one particularly awful haircut I decided enough was enough! So I went to Trish Harrold at Salon Dacota and she does awesome work!! I love my hair. She gave me a great all over color and the cut is amazing. This is the best my hair has a looked in a very long time. Every where I go I get comments on the color and the cut! Salon Dacota is a great place to go. I feel like they really care about how you feel and they want to make sure you are completely satisfied with the way your hair looks! I was searching for a new place to get my hair done because I was in kind of a rut so to speak. I got on citysearch and read reviews on Salon Dacota and said, ""What the hell""? Let me be the first to say that I am extremely pleased and will recommend them to all my friends for a few reasons. One, I was running late (Manchester is a nightmare) and they still welcomed me with open arms and never once did I feel rushed. Chrissy did my hair and she is absolutely fabulous. I told her several broad ideas of what I wanted showed her a few pictures and what she did was even better than what I had pictured myself. However the real proof in the pudding was that after I left the salon, I went to West County Mall, and literally the first person that I saw stopped me and told me how great my hair looked! Then before I left I was stopped two more times! Let me tell you I was on cloud nine and felt so hot all day and night! Salon Dacota is absolutely fierce! They have great service, trendy hairsytlists, and the environment is very relaxing.Trisha Harold is my personal favorite! She is great at highlights, cutting, and styling. I have extremely thick coarse hair and she works so well with it. The results are shiny, smooth, and frizz free hair. Every time she does my hair. I walk out so happy. They also have a great rewards system. Every time you refer someone to them, they give a credit that goes towards products or services. You can use it however you like. I first called the salon after randomly looking for a new place to get my hair done. I found Salon Dacota on here and read good reviews. I called and was excited about my appointment after talking to Jan on the phone. She was very helpful on my decision of what services I needed and even told me that I would recieve 25% off my first visit. I had no idea what stylist I wanted but she gave me options & I opted to choose Valla, whom she said does her hair as well. When I arrived, Jan was VERY friendly, made me GREAT coffee, brought me a magazine so I could choose the style and color I would like. She even hung up my jacket for me! I was given a form to fill out about my past styles, which made me feel that my stylist really cared about me and what I wanted. \r When Valla came to greet me, she walked up to me, shook my hand & then sat down next to me. I was so excited to have chosen her because she was so trendy & well manicured. I instantly felt comfortable with her and the salons vibe. Not only did she ask me how I most liked my hair, but I felt that she was taking it to heart. We chose a color that I was not totally sure about but trusted her eye for it when she said it would look great for my skin tone. She then took me back to the most relaxing shampoo area that I have ever experienced and gave me what felt like a 10 minute shampoo followed by a free wax treatment for my hands (thats like $10 at nail places!). As she was doing my cut & style she explained each product and told me how to use them. I was shocked to find out that even at home I could almost duplicate the look! \r Now to the minus one..the whole time I was sitting in her chair..as a mother of 2 living in Ballwin I was greatly discerned to hear the man beside her complaining about Ballwin/West County and children. I moved to Saint Louis almost a year ago and felt bad about leaving my stylist in Illinois. I did some searching and came upon Salon Dacota and decided to give it a try due to the 25% discount on your first visit. I did not request a particular stylist for the first visit, and although I'm sure that all of the staff there is excellent, I'm hooked on Bobbi! The first visit I had some color issues to work out and decided to go with a color and a trim. Both services were wonderful. The second visit I discussed a pixie cut which I had wanted to do for years. Bobbi gave me the cut I have always wanted. Also, the color he used lasted over two months. I have never had so many compliments on my hair, even from strangers. The environment is very welcoming, calming, and relaxed. I make the drive from the city to Ballwin and I have never been disappointed. I highly recommend Salon Dacota, and if he has an opening...go with Bobbi! He truly takes the time to listen to what you want, and even if you're not sure, he presents a number of options to consider. Hello Ladies N Gents! First a little about me: I have frequented 4 to 5 different salons and demand only the best from my stylist. I have a lot of hair, and I mean a lot! It's thick, long, and has a lot of body. A normal cut for me lasts about an hour, and that?s without a blowdry! Now why would a girl want to change her stylist? Well, my stylist just didn't seem interested any more and she helped make up my mind by going on maternity leave. So, off I go in search for someone new. I previously used Salon Dakota and decided to give them another try. But first I made a phone call to probe and see if they had someone with experience cutting long hair. We bounced a couple names off and I decided with Derrick. I had been there before and love the quaint, but modern homey feel of the salon and didn't have to wait but five minutes to meet Derrick. He gave an immediate impression that we could be great friends, which is always a bonus when you?re sitting there for over an hour with this person! We discussed my hair qualities, and how it is usually cut and styled, and he proceeded to educate me as to why the previous cut and style was no longer working for me. This guy knows his stuff! We resumed my appointment with a wash and relaxing scalp massage. He explained each product as he applied it and how it benefited my hair and the environment, a plus since I'm a tree hugger! I then dipped my hands in peach paraffin wax, mmm. The cut: I felt so confident in his knowledge and experience, that I let him go with the flow and, let me tell you, it turned out fabulous!! I have not had my hair look so glamorous and chic in years! And compliments galore! I gave out four referrals in an hour! I moved to saint louis to further my career as a doctor in 2006. Being in a field where you are around many people in all walks of life, it is important to be professional and look your best. I heard about Salon Dacota from a lifetime friend, and although I value her opionion, I wanted to see for myself what the establishment was all about. \r My first visit was great! I absolutly loved the way my haircut looked, and being a woman we all know how important it is for a great hair style. The melodic music, the great photos on the wall, and the enthusaistic crew where very aesthetic. Not only did they cut my hair great , the environment of the establishment was very invigorating. I went to Salon Dacota after trying to find a new stylist and reading the reviews here. I would say the overall experience based on about four visits is just fair to average. While the front staff is extremely enthusiastic and friendly, the stylist I went to (based on reviews here) just didn't really seem to be interested in this type of work for the long haul. She started cutting my hair one visit, and I said that hadn't scheduled a hair cut this time."" She said ""I'm sure you DID"", left to check the computer, came back and said ""I guess it was the next customer."" Wow. Even if I had, you would think she would have first asked if I wanted the same cut as before! I also was never offered the complimentary parrafin hand wax after the first visit. Perhaps I just got a bad stylist, as I saw some great hair done on other clients. Mine just seemed disinterested, unenthusiastic and a bit unprofessional.
