Salon Bella Mia

I had Jacque Timmins do my updo for my sorority's formal and it turned out AMAZING! Not only did my hair turn out better than I ever could have expected, but it also stayed put the entire night! I am a very picky person, but would say without hesitation that I would trust Jacque to style my hair for any event, even my wedding! I highly suggest this salon. 5 stars!!!!! more

I really shouldn't be writing this review at all, considering it will make appts with Robbert more difficult to come by. However, I cannot keep this a secret. I researched online for local salons. One was given poor reviews and I noticed several posters very upset about Robbert no longer being affiliated with it. Instead they found him elsewhere, and followed him like a herd of sheep. His clients seem to follow him wherever he goes. I figured, ""This guy MUST be good!"" And, boy, he proved me right. He IS FABULOUS! First, okay, I've been going to Great Clips for many years now because my income limits my ability to pamper myself in any way. Although I may have slightly low expectations given my current state of affairs regarding my hair, I have been to many salons in my lifetime and many hairstylists to boot. And I have to say, my hair has NEVER looked better. I decided to go with whatever he thought was best (given our discussion regarding my preferences in hair care), and I'm so glad I let him take the reign! He is a magician!! Robbert is friendly, conversational, and excellent with hair, style, and customer service. Upon walking in, I was greeted immediately by another team member there. I sat on the big comfortable sofa in the waiting area while Robbert finished up with his other client. When he came to me, he greeted me with a friendly handshake and smile. He consulted with me regarding my style and hair care preferences and made a perfect cut for me. I just can't say enough about this place! more

Love, Love Love this place. Was very pleased with our experience here. Bought 2 Groupons, one for hair color and haircut and one for pedicure and manicure. My friend and I wanted to go together but schedules conflicted so we at different times but we both thought the girls were really nice, served me wine while my hair color was on and my nails were perfect. Both girls who worked with me were named Melisa, I was very happy and will be a regular customer there. Thanks Groupon!! more

I bought the Groupon for this salon, thinking I would try it out. Unfortunately, I was completely unable to book an appointment! I called the salon during regular business hours on several occassions (even leaving a message) and was never able to reach anyone! What kind of salon doesn't answer their phone or call back? When I finally got through to someone, I was informed that they have been booked for ages, completely at capacity due to Groupon, even working overtime because they were unable to handle the volume of customers. I looked at Groupon again and saw that they sold 291 coupons with an expiration date of 6 months. What were they thinking??! That is something they should have considered before signing up. They also tried to blame me for waiting until the ""last minute,"" even though I'd been calling them for weeks- extremely rude and unprofessional. Waste of money- I will not be using my Groupon (which is now only worth face value). more

First I want to say, this is great little salon with a great group of people. I feel very comfortable here and love my hair and nails EVERYTIME. For those of you who have dreaded trying somewhere new, like I always have, I must say Im sure you will be happy here. Its not a big place but thats what I like. Jess does my nails and Melissa does my hair to perfection. They are both great at what they do. Never fill like they are rushing me out to get to next person. I look forward to my appointments, always feel beautiful walking out the door. Just thought you would want to know about this place! more

Salon Bella Mia is all about having a great overall experience without all the pretense of a typical city salon. Everyone (staff and clients) are friendly, happy and relaxed which is sooo refreshing. The free parking behind the salon is an added bonus. Robbert is SO fun and easy-going and always gives me a new fun and edgy look which is exactly what I want. I am 42 and always get compliments on my "youthful" appearance. Robbert is my magician! Words cannot express how pleased I am with this salon and how much I love Robbert! I've been seeing Robbert for a while now and up until recently, I've been insistant on the same look. Simple and classic- in other words- boring. Robbert has always given me what I wanted, but has told me I should be more daring with my hair. I never listened... Until now. I came into the salon last week and was a little down in the dumps. Robbert picked up on this immediately. He sat down and talked with me. I told him I needed to make some changes in my life because I was lonely and felt unattractive, but I had no idea where to begin or what to do. He said, ""Well, you are here, so let's begin."" Over the course of almost 2 hours, Robbert took me from brown, one-length hair to short, spikey bombshell blond!!! I still cannot believe it. He talked me into wearing make-up again and going shopping for a new outfit. I took his advice, left the salon and went shopping for make-up and new clothes. Later that night, I met friends for drinks. They were blown away and could not stop raving about my new look! I hadn't felt so good in years. But what made the night 100% perfect was getting- not one, but TWO phone numbers from a couple of very handsome gentlemen!! I am still in awe as are my girlfriends. To those of you contemplating this man, I tell you this, not only will you get a smart and talented hairdresser, but you will be with one of the most compassionate and motivating people that you will ever meet. Its been over a week and this feeling of renewal is breathtaking. more

Having showed up at Spa Uptown only to find the doors closed was frustrating and sad, but what is more sad was trying to find my Robbert! Luckily, a little internet research and lo and behold... He is at the Bella Mia Salon!!! As always, he was accommodating and worked his magic! This salon is very cute- a lot smaller than spa uptown- but size doesn't always matter when it comes to FREE PARKING!!!! Yes, it is true- FREE PARKING right behind the building!!! I also met Melissa (owner) and she was very kind and sweet. Robbert did an amazing job as always. My highlights look amazing and the cut... FLAWLESS! Robbert, I love you, but you must stay put! To the Bella Mia Salon... PLEASE KEEP HIM THERE! We love him and don't want to lose track of him again!!! more

The salon is quaint and very comfortable, Unlike some Shadyside salons I have been to I felt like I was just another client. I know all the girls that work there now from going several times, Melissa does my hair and I have had Jessice do my pedicures and have been very pleased everytime. (Chelsey did it once too and it was great also!) These girls all use to work together at another Shadyside salon and now have opened there own salon. The prices are pretty comparable to other salons around that area. I have to go to another place for my facials and skincare but I will stay going here for my hair because I know I will always be happy when I leave. I am getting married in the spring and will be bringing all my girls here for my big day, anyhow I recommend this place!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: quality service everytime Cons: No skincare more

We found this salon by seeing it while eating lunch across the street at Alexanders Italian Restrauant. We work at West Penn hospital so it is walking distance for us which is always a plus, there is a small parking lot behind the salon though. I have had my hair colored there several times with two different girls and have loved it everytime. They all worked together at Dean of Shadyside Salon and broke off on their own but from my experience there they all seem talented. I have also had a pedicure there and enjoyed it too. It is not big there, I wish they did massage there but as far as a hair salon I am very pleased. They also have snacks and wine out in the evenings which is a nice way to end a stressful day. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a new place to try. Saturdays seem a little crowed there so I try to evenings. The food acroos the street is good too!!!
