Saladang Song is one of the worst tasting Thai restaurants that I have ever been to. Being Thai myself, I could say firsthand that Saladang Song is not authentic Thai food. The ...

this place is delish 7/17/2002

whoever gave this place a low rating is insane. the food here is the best thai in the entire l.a. area--and i've tried lots. i live in los feliz and drive to saladang all the time for my favorite dishes. don't miss: spicy eggplant, chicken with chili and cashews (they'll even do all white meat on request) and the bbq beef. yum. more

Don't listen to the critics. 7/1/2002

The other reviewers just don't give this place the justice Saladang deserves. It's the best Bistro Thai food I've ever had. The place is always busy but there is always a table ready for you. If you ever do have to wait, no worries, it won't be more that a 5 or 10 munite wait. Yeah the place has a warehouse feeling to it but that what makes this place so cool. It has a real open air feeling, trendy feel to it. I really like this place and would reccomend it to anyone. more

Eating Thai in jail courtyard 6/18/2002

As others have mentioned, the decor here is rather unusual. To me, lunch out on the patio feels like I'm eating in some bizarre, open-air, tropical island prison. But I mean that in a good way. Honestly. The food, by the way, is definitely several notches above average, but a few notches below sublime. more

Stick with Saladang 6/12/2002

I spent almost 10 minutes arguing with the waitress that the exotic seafood soup was what I wanted. And not that she couldn't understand my order, but that she was actually trying to talk me out of it! She insisted that it was very 'fishy' and that I wouldn't like it. Needless to say, I still ordered it and was only disappointed that she seemed to have interpreted my request for 'extra spicy' as 'extra mild'. All in all, not worth it. I'll stick with Saladang next door. more

Even better than Saladang 6/9/2002

Although Saladang is good, Saladang Song is better. Right next door to Saladang, Saladang Song offers a mor intersteing Thai menu. Some of the best and happiest servers around Pasadena. more

Not the best, but the best of Pasadena 6/4/2002

I would agree that Saladang has some wonderful offerings and some rather medicore ones. But I believe it to be the best of the Thai restaurants in Pasadena. Try their salad rolls and any of the spicy dishes. Stay away from any of the sweet drinks but always enjoy a Singha (or Thai Beer as they insist on calling it) with your dinner. more

Second Fiddle 5/19/2002

The quality of Saladang has been slipping lately, though its reputation and industrial decor still draw crowds. The stir-fried vegetables are still a standout, as is the sate, whole catfish, and green-curry eggplant. But patrons are better served at Saladang's sister restaurant across the street. more

Saladang Song 5/19/2002

Right next door to it's sister restaurant Saladang, but definitely a step ahead. The food is great and the ambience is Fantastic. I Highly recommend. more

Terrific Thai Seafood 5/19/2002

Saladang Song eclipses its older sister restaurant (across the street) with more imaginative entrees and a more attentive wait staff. The atmosphere is quieter. These are good choices: mustard greens and shi'itake mushrooms with shrimp or scallops, soft-shell crab with asparagus, and spicy poo-goong tom ga-ti (crab, shrimp, ginger, onion and chili in coconut milk). more
