Worst

Not that I have anything against making a buck but, this store is a over priced dump. They had a $10.00 bag sale last week and I couldn't fill the bag with anything worth the time...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/24/2012

Though it's not in the best part of town, the staff is very nice. The prices are reasonable, even good on clothing and furniture. This month (Nov 2012) SVDP in Flint is having a $5 bag sale and $1 per item clothes sale. I just stopped in yesterday and picked up 11 pairs of jeans for $9.00 ($5 bag + 4 additional pairs)! Most of the clothes I looked at were in good shape and clearly tagged. The aisles are still cramped, and the store could use some tidying up and organizing, but it is definitely worth your time to visit. It seems they have undergone some management changes (based on past reviews), but now seems like they are on the right track. more

Declining. Nasty - Where's the Board of Directors? 8/3/2009

The management seems delusional about what they think their stuff is worth. Example: a picture frame was marked $2 from a garage sale, but they wanted $7 and would not budge on the price. I used to find quality bargains, but now the stuff is junky and filthy. I have donated a lot of nice items over the years, but don't see them in the store anymore like I used to. I wonder who took them? I now go to Goodwill and Salvation Army, where my donations and buying at least help support persons with special needs. Pros: Friendly, Albeit Disappointed Fellow Customers Cons: Overpriced Junk, Mismanaged, Rude Staff more

A Dump! 11/18/2008

You used to be able to find really good bargains there until the new manager took over. Apparently she has connections with someone on the Board of Directors or something. \r the prices are so high, nothing sells anymore. The store is a fire trap. In the new management's ""brilliance"" she had a huge bag sale of toys, where all the bags were closed so when you bought them you ended up with broken filthy toys that could not be cleaned or used. \r Old broken stock is never cleaned out. The terrific Saturday sales are a thing of the past. It is a dump now! Pros: parking Cons: High prices. So disorganized you cannot sort through things. Navigation hazards. more

Not an average thrift store 10/20/2008

Not that I have anything against making a buck but, this store is a over priced dump. They had a $10.00 bag sale last week and I couldn't fill the bag with anything worth the time or effort. They have a new manager there who does not know how to sell an item properly. I have no clue as to why this person is employed there except to drive down business and scare away buyers. This is supposed to be a Christian charity operation but, as you will see it's a bad attempt at greed. Try Goodwill thrift stores down the road for better deals. Pros: Location, parking, 1/2 price days Cons: Poor management. more

A thrift shop I will not be shopping at again. 3/22/2008

I shopped at St. Vincent De Pauls for about 7 years every saturday morning. There were about 25-35 people who would stand in line waiting for the store to open on Saturday mornings. It kind of got to be a family of people who got to know each other. Since the Catholic Board of Directors appointed a new manage about Jan. 1, 2008, everything changed. There are no more good buys there, in my opinion, along with the opinions of the other regular people. There might be 5-6 of the people in the store on Saturdays, now, opposed to the number of people that would shop there on Saturdays. I've been told that most of them are going to rummage sales and estate sales. I used to spend approximately $130.00 a month there buying clothes and collectables. I've spent about $6.00 there in about the last 30 days. I think they are stockpiling the donations somewhere else, or selling things on the internet. The prices there are now out of this world. I really miss going there on Saturdays but I guess that's what happens when you bring in new management. I'll be glad when the rummage sales start. \r \r Thomas Richards\r \r Pros: There are no long lines anymore because the customers have dropped off so bad. Cons: I don't have to get out of be early anymore so I get a good place in line before they open. more
