Excellent food rivaling anything in the metro area & beyond! 5/2/2009

I have eaten at Sai Mai several times a month since it opened and it is the ONLY restaurant in Bothell that I frequent. The owners pride themselves on friendly, attentive and expeditious service. The food is fabulous. I have lived in and traveled to many different cities and eaten lots of Thai food in my life but nothing compares to Sai Mai. The dishes always contain the freshest of ingredients, prepared with great care and skill and are always delivered nice and hot. The usuals are on the menu.... pad thai and satay, for example.... but there are so many wonderful and healthy creative dishes like three plus one. And Mu makes the best cocktails! I am salivating just thinking about the cilantro mojito that he makes. You must go to Sai Mai. They are worth a trip to the East side if you don't live there and should be a regular haunt if, in fact, you do. I usually go to Belltown and Capitol Hill for good food but Sai Mai is the exception! Pros: Delicious, fresh and healthy ingredients perfectly prepared more

Great food, nice atmosphere, slower service 10/18/2008

My husband and I went here last Friday night for the first time. We were seated and given menus as soon as we walked in, but it was quite awhile before our drink order was taken and then longer before our food order was taken. We ordered the sweet potato fries to start off with and they were salted and served w/a sweet chilli sauce. They were tasty! For my entree I ordered the pad see-iew with vegetables, no meat/tofu by request It was hot upon receiving and tasted wonderful! My husband got the pad kee mao with chicken that he also really liked. We both left full. The decor was nice, candle-lit atmosphere, and they had even decorated for Halloween(good/bad). Looks much nicer than you'd think from the outside of the building! Pros: lunch specials, good thai food Cons: slower service more

This Bothell neighborhood restaurant is a gem! 8/21/2008

From the minute you walk in, you will notice something special about Sai Mai. This space which has been so thoughtfully created is overflowing with ambience, and it carries down to the most minute detail. This restaurant is such a delight each time I frequent it. The food is excellent, plated beautifully, and served in just the right amount. Every dish I have tasted has been excellent, and the chef is happy to tweak it for you if need be. The service is excellent providing just the right amount of attention. I must go there more frequently, they never disappoint. You need to go there today! Try it for lunch or dinner. Pros: Ambience, Food, Service, Value. The moment you walk in, you will be intrigued. Cons: Never mind the worn buildings behind this fine restaurant. more

Highly recommended! The best Thai food and superb service... 7/16/2008

Sai Mai is the best Thai restaurant for miles around! The food is fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We've tried many of their dishes and have enjoyed each one. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant has been fully remodeled since its days as the Ming Palace restaurant, and people will be amazed at the transformation. The decor is tastefully elegant, and yet it is a restaurant that is kid-friendly. The restaurant's exterior is non-descript and uninviting, but if you go inside and order any of their tasty dishes, you will have discovered a new favorite restaurant. It is by far the best Thai food in the area. Penn Thai is decent, but Sai Mai is clearly superb. more

Not your average ""thai place""... 7/8/2008

Five stars! I can't recommend this place enough. If you are looking for a place to eat dinner tonight, try Sai Mai. If you want a new, local place to bring friends and show off to your out-of-town guests, try Sai Mai. You can even say you found it, I won't tell.\r \r Not your average ""thai place"". The food is not only delicious, but beautifully and thoughtfully presented. In other words, it tastes as good as it looks. The service is fantastic, the drinks are excellent (mmm... Lychee Martini!)... Oh! and Happy Hour every day from 4 to 6 pm means $3 appetizers on the Happy Hour menu. My favorites are the crab salad on fried wontons and the chicken wings. I'm telling you, my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. Fortunately, I'm only a short drive away from this place, but I'd gladly drive much further for this.\r \r So what I'm really trying to say is, go eat at Sai Mai, you will not be disappointed. And who knows? You might just find a new favorite restaurant.\r more

Great Thai food in Bothell! 7/5/2008

My wife and I were hooked on our first visit and now we've been Sai Mai regulars (at least once a week) for almost eleven months. It's our go-to eatery in Bothell... simply outstanding. While we enjoy some favorites, we also like to branch out and try different entrees and appetizers. The staff is very friendly and attentive and every dish is presented with the same high level of quality. This establishment is fastidiously clean at all times and is well thought out and pleasant to see. These people clearly care about their food and atmosphere, and work hard to maintain very high standards for their guests. If you go to Sai Mai and try their dining experience, there's a very good chance you'll become a repeat customer too. A nice bonus: you receive good value for your dining dollar... the choices are many and the prices are reasonable. It's hard to imagine a better Thai restaurant in the greater Seattle area. more

Highly Recommended !! 6/23/2008

The food was absolutely outstanding. The service was very attentive and friendly.\r I have been Sai Mai twice for Dinner and it was wonderful both times.\r Don't be afraid to go Sai Mai because of the last Chinese place.\r I definitely recommend Sai Mai. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find such good Thai food out in the suburbs. more
