Phenomenal - Superb Food! 10/30/2004

Saha is not only the best Arabic restaurants I've ever been to - it's one of the best and most intimate restaurants in San Francisco. The food is wonderful! We had a group of 11 and everyone was satisfied - including the vegetarians and non-vegetarians both! We also had great service...the staff went the extra mile, and the chef/owner personally came out and joined us for a drink. Pros: Tasty Food, Personal Service, Intimate more

A true gem! 10/29/2004

Dining at Saha is like taking a trip to an exotic land. You feel like you are sitting in a royal palace while each course comes better than the next. The food will open your eyes and treat your palatte. The food is a perfect blend of middle eastern delights mixed with good ol' California Cuisine. We ate there with a group of 10 and shared all the plates and each person was bowled over by the quality and taste. Lamp Chops that melted off the bone, lamb tagine that was out of this world and we topped it all off with a bottle of port for an after dinner drink. It was truly a memorable night and we won't hesitate to go back there again and again. more

YOU MUST GO!! 10/28/2004

We originally went here for a friend's birthday party and got the royal treatment. The food is fresh, creative, and astounding to the palate. Wine list was verstile. Great value for prixe fix. Can't wait to try the brunch. Mohammed and his staff tkae great care of the patrons. The location is a bit odd, but cozy. This place will get my parties and recommendations! Pros: food, staff, prices more

At last!!!! 10/15/2004

I lived in France a few years back where I first discovered the wonders of Middle eastern cuisine, particularly Couscous; and I had never had better since, no matter how hard I tried. Even when price was no object, I couldn't find any place that equalled those exquisite flavors I found in France. Then along came Saha. Where other Arabic restaurants had come up short Saha shined! And I mean each and every time I eat there (it's become an irrisistible habit lately) Both the large & small plates are amazingly fresh and beautifully presented in a setting that is both simple and stylish. I dare ANY restaurant in SF to match Saha. And oh my GOD did I mention the Lamb Tangine?! It simply melts off the fork! FIVE STARS!!!!! Pros: AMBIENCE, VARIED MENU, DESSERT!!!! Cons: , NO LUNCH more

Food that feeds your soul. 10/8/2004

Eating at Saha, is a treat for the palate as well as the imagination. Chef Mohamed's bold and creative combinations of flavors and spices is something that must be experienced to be fully understood. He takes the knowledge of food and spices from his native Yemen and combines it with the wonderful fresh ingredients available in California and creates food that is nourishing for the soul. When you eat a dish like the couscous you are having the real deal of authentic and yet transcendent Middle Eastern cooking. He is a master of bringing new life to the traditional cuisine as well as experimenting and exploring completely new culinary territory. I highly recommend anything, especially the soups. more

I Will Return... 10/4/2004

Being a Chef from the Big Island of Hawaii, I visit the City several times a year, looking for new ""finds"" for the palet. Chef Mohamed has chrafted a unique and delicious culinary experiance for you. Presentation and color is excellent. Texture matched to flavor perfectly. Out of several entre's, my personal favorite is the Curry dish, with tofu and squash. The Ravioli w/ mango sauce deserves special mention. Oh, and you will probably be asking for more of the delicious Focaccia bread because you WILL NOT want to waste any of the sauce...I will return... more

Palette Pleasures 9/29/2004

I am delighted that this wonderful Yemenese-San Francisco Fusion restaurant has opened it's doors to us foodies! The amazing selection of spices used in the dishes and the sauces are delectable. Wine list is complementary to the food with a great slection of the best wines available. Dining at Saha is like making love to your senses. Honestly, folks. It's that good! Pros: Amazing Cuisine, Great Wines, Moderately Priced more

SAHA translates into TASTY 9/28/2004

AMZINGINGLY TASTEFUL!! The flavors are a treat and make you feel FAR FAR away from all the commercial/blend dining experiences we find ourselves in sometimes. I am thrilled to have made the decision to step inside the Carlton Hotel only to find the VERY VERY best morrocan cous cous I have ever tried outside of the country itself. Chef Mohammed does know how to add some spice and the waitress recommended a very tasteful and well matching full bodied red to go with my entree. Plenti of Hors d'hoeuvres make you want to eat ""tapas style"". I have been back several times and feel a great consistency, which makes me confident in inviting friends over, and prices dont make you think twice about staying in or going to Saha. Pros: TASTE, CONSISTENCY, PRICES more

GREATEST MEAL EVER! 9/26/2004

Wow! Chef Mohamed is my favorite chef! He is so creative in the kitchen and offers gourmet food at bargain prices. Those shitake mushroom ravioli in mango sauce have now become a staple in my life. But everything is fantastic! He takes chances with food and suceeds! It's also nice to see a few basic items on the menu for the less adventureous. But I have been there several times already and the place just opened! One night we had fun making an evening just of the small plates - from the three green things to the greatest hummes I ever ate! The main courses are also great wih his wonderful cous cous and seafood delights! But I keep dreaming of those wonderful ravioli with its perfect blend of sweet and spicy! And there's a prefix menu for $25 - too cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: great food, inexpensive, good atmosphere more

So good! 9/16/2004

I stayed at the Carlton Hotel and tried Saha simply out of convenience. I'm so glad I did. It was really great. The chef even stopped by to talk about how he had prepared the dishes we ordered. Try the Crab Island! I was completely full but couldn't stop eating. more

DELICIOUS 9/8/2004

the food was amazing, i dont think theres anything like it in the city. intimate dining at it's best. I highly recomend the curry. It's hard to find REALY good vegiterian food in the city without feeling like your in a barn or in some hippy commune. Pros: good wine, good atmosphere more

Amazing .... 9/6/2004

Whether you go for traditional basics such as hummus or fatoush salad, or opt for his more creative delights, the outcome of Chef Mohamed's food is unfailingly fantastic - often the type of fantastic that forces you to close your eyes, sit back in your cushy chair and mmmmmmm audibly. His food is absolutely DIVINE. Saha (or wherever Chef Mohamed is cooking) is always a top recommendation for an evening of grand food and good fun. The cozy, open atmosphere of Saha lends easily to both a casual evening as well as a special occassion, complete with well chosen wines. Pros: Food, Reasonable Prices, Good Variety more
